Best RV Parks & Resorts near Klondike, TX

Several RV parks operate in the Klondike area of West Texas, primarily serving oil field workers and travelers passing through the region. Midessa Oil Patch RV Park offers 150 full-hookup sites with 50-amp service and accommodates big rigs with pull-through access. "Park itself looks a little rough, and is close to the highway and railroad. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful," noted one visitor who paid $40 for a pull-through site with full hookups. Hat Creek RV Park provides water and electric hookups on a dirt lot with adequate space for larger motorhomes, while Lamesa RV Parking Area offers free overnight parking with electric hookups and picnic tables. Clinton Fox (Pioneer RV) features both 30-amp and 50-amp sites with sewer hookups and can accommodate larger rigs.

Full hookup availability varies significantly between parks, with Texas RV Park of Big Spring and Midland East RV Park offering water, electric, and sewer connections. During summer months, temperatures regularly exceed 100°F, making functional electrical hookups crucial for air conditioning. Most parks provide basic amenities like trash service and dump stations, though reviews indicate varying quality of facilities. Cell service is generally reliable across the region, with a reviewer noting "Surprisingly strong internet" and "AT&T very good. Verizon mediocre" at different locations. Travelers should be aware that many parks are situated near highways and railroad tracks, creating potential noise issues. Coleman RV Park (Brownfield) stands out by offering free stays up to 5 days with water and electric hookups plus a separate dump station.

    Nice overnight stay

No frills. Clean bathrooms and laundry. 60 channel cable. Did not try wifi. AT&T very good. Verizon mediocre. Loves and another convenience store within walking distance. Big dog run. Vending machine for ice on-site. Looks like beer and wine sales coming as well as a work out room. Owners appear to be making upgrades

    Goldenrod RV Park & Propane

    Wonderful

I have lived here for 9 months. The office staff are friendly and helpful. They are family friendly and pet friendly which is a big deal for me. The people in the park are respectful. I have made many friends here and it feel we are more like a family then we are friends. When you have a problem with something, the office gets it taken care of really fast. I love the fact that they have shower houses and a laundry facility. This is a great place to stay at. I would recommend this place to everyone.

    Hat Creek RV Park

    Good if you're passing through

Super bare bones RV park, just a dirt lot with rows of RV spots. It’s right next to an oil facility so there are a lot of workers that stay in this park. We stayed here because we needed showers and laundry and the price with Passport America was good atv$17.50. Even the full price of 35 is decent. We got FHU and a pull through site in the overnight area way in the back.

There’s a little playground here, nice showers, and a nice laundry facility. I liked that the laundry had dedicated animal bedding/ oil rig machines so we could wash our dog bedding guilt free. Machines are coin operated, you can get quarters in the office. The office has a nice little store as well, with snacks and beer and basic supplies. There’s free wifi as well.

Definitely not a fabulous place to come for fun, but if you’re racing through Texas like we were and need a place to stop for the night this is a great place for it. It’s nice and quiet because everyone is here just to work, it seems. There were many bees and flies clamoring to get into the RV when we stayed here in early December. Good cell reception for attv& verizon. Our poor dogs’ paws were covered in goat heads- we will be buying some dog boots!

Guide to Klondike

RV parks near Klondike, Texas primarily serve oil industry workers and travelers passing through the Permian Basin region. Summer temperatures frequently reach above 100°F with minimal shade across most facilities. West Texas camping locations often feature level sites on dirt or gravel surfaces with varying degrees of spacing between units.

What to do

Frisbee golf course access: Lamesa RV Parking Area offers camping adjacent to a disc golf course. "Nice safe, spot w water and electric. Across from a playground and on a frisbee golf course. Great find!! On our way to New Mexico," notes a traveler at Lamesa RV Parking Area.

Paved walking paths: Coleman RV Park provides paved roads circling the facility for exercise. A visitor mentions, "There are nice shelters with picnic tables and grills. Paved road around the park for walking. Stay a night and was very quiet, and no one bothers you so we felt safe."

Recreation facilities: Multiple family activities available at Coleman City Park. "This is connected to a city park, with disc golf set up right near by. There are hookups at each parking spot as well as a water and dumping station," explains one camper at Coleman RV Park.

What campers like

Free camping options: Several municipal parks offer no-cost stays with basic amenities. "City park with 8 or so free campsites. Water and 30A service. Makes a great overnight stop. And did I say free?" shares a visitor at Lamesa RV Parking Area.

Affordable overnight stays: Budget-friendly options throughout the region. "We needed an overnight stop. This was perfect. Electric, water and a close dump. All free. They do appreciate donations," writes a camper about Coleman RV Park.

Central location for travel: Convenient stopping point between major destinations. "Perfect stop to break up the trip from DFW metroplex to Whitesands New Mexico area," explains a reviewer at Hat Creek RV Park, which offers "a dirt lot with rows of RV spots" but includes amenities like showers and laundry facilities.

What you should know

Electrical reliability varies: Check connections before setting up. "This is our 4th time here over a 10 year time frame. The electrical has slowly deteriorated. Site 10 this time had serviceable electrical hook up but Site 4 showed on my meter to be good but upon hookup had a faulty circuit," warns a camper at Lamesa.

Seasonal pest issues: Prepare for insects and plant hazards. "Our poor dogs' paws were covered in goat heads - we will be buying some dog boots!" notes a visitor at Hat Creek RV Park, while another review mentions, "There were many bees and flies clamoring to get into the RV when we stayed here in early December."

Cell service quality: Coverage strength differs by carrier. One reviewer at Clinton Fox reports "AT&T very good. Verizon mediocre" while another park visitor mentions "Surprisingly strong internet" at their location.

Tips for camping with families

Playground availability: Several parks feature play areas for children. "There's a little playground here, nice showers, and a nice laundry facility," mentions a visitor about Hat Creek RV Park.

Pet-friendly considerations: Most Klondike-area RV parks welcome animals but with varying accommodations. "They are family friendly and pet friendly which is a big deal for me," explains a reviewer at Goldenrod RV Park & Propane, where they stayed nine months.

Multi-day accommodations: Several parks permit longer stays. Coleman RV Park allows "Free for up to 5 days" according to one reviewer, making it suitable for families needing more than overnight accommodations.

Tips from RVers

Laundry facilities access: Important consideration for extended travels. "I liked that the laundry had dedicated animal bedding/oil rig machines so we could wash our dog bedding guilt free. Machines are coin operated, you can get quarters in the office," notes a reviewer at Hat Creek RV Park.

Site selection strategy: Choose spots away from noise sources when possible. "Had a back-in site. Staff escorted me to the site and helped me back in (which was very nice), however was right by the road," explains a visitor to Midessa Oil Patch RV Park.

Level site availability: Terrain varies between facilities. A camper at Coleman notes, "It's a free parking lot with power for RV. The lot has a slight slope but it's fine for a night or two. It's by the main road so there is some noise but its fine works for the night."
