      Clinton Fox

      Nice overnight stay

No frills. Clean bathrooms and laundry. 60 channel cable. Did not try wifi. AT&T very good. Verizon mediocre. Loves and another convenience store within walking distance. Big dog run. Vending machine for ice on-site. Looks like beer and wine sales coming as well as a work out room. Owners appear to be making upgrades

      Lone Wolf Creek RV Village

Nice clean park with many large flat pull through sites

Very friendly and helpful hosts let us pick our site. Many large flat pull-through with full hookups. Did not need to unhook toad. Easy on-off at exit 217. Thanks for the books and suggestion of hike to nearby pond Richard. Also convenient Sunoco with lot of space for gas and diesel big rigs.

Lake Colorado City State Park Campground

      Breathtaking Views

We used this for a one night pass thru but I would have loved to spent the week. Gorgeous views, and a perk, perfect weather. The night sky is amazing, facilities clean and well kept. Restrooms and showers were in good repair. Electric and water hook-ups with a dump station at exit. Site was a level back-in spot with covered picnic table. Not a lot of shade available at our site but some had more. I would most definitely stay here again to enjoy the state park.

Lake Colorado City State Park Campground

      Nice, very quiet CG

We have a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and stayed in site 41 for 1 night in early September. The CG is clean, well maintained. The CG roads are paved, as are the sites. The site pads themselves are concrete and most looked to be fairly level, but a few had a little bit of slope. Most of the sites were fairly well spaced. The CG, at least on Monday evening, was very quiet and peaceful. There were only 5 other campers in the whole CG. Our site, 41, was a pull-through. There doesn’t seem to be much lake access, at least from the CG areas anyway, except one defunct access from the first CG loop. The trees, mostly mesquite I think, though plentiful, are fairly short and don’t provide much shade. There were a few goathead burrs around so beware.

AT&T coverage was marginal, with only 2 bars of LTE service and speeds up to 2.9 MB/s. We had a clear view to the N from the front of the site, so Starlink was fine with speeds up to 26 MB/s.

      Comanche trail park campground

      Good stop

Small area in local park. Not for big rigs. Comanche has a pond, disc golf, playgrounds and trails that are nice. Lot of trash around tho. 3 days max.

      Hat Creek RV Park

      Good if you're passing through

Super bare bones RV park, just a dirt lot with rows of RV spots. It’s right next to an oil facility so there are a lot of workers that stay in this park. We stayed here because we needed showers and laundry and the price with Passport America was good atv$17.50. Even the full price of 35 is decent. We got FHU and a pull through site in the overnight area way in the back.

There’s a little playground here, nice showers, and a nice laundry facility. I liked that the laundry had dedicated animal bedding/ oil rig machines so we could wash our dog bedding guilt free. Machines are coin operated, you can get quarters in the office. The office has a nice little store as well, with snacks and beer and basic supplies. There’s free wifi as well.

Definitely not a fabulous place to come for fun, but if you’re racing through Texas like we were and need a place to stop for the night this is a great place for it. It’s nice and quiet because everyone is here just to work, it seems. There were many bees and flies clamoring to get into the RV when we stayed here in early December. Good cell reception for attv& verizon. Our poor dogs’ paws were covered in goat heads- we will be buying some dog boots!

Lake Colorado City State Park Campground

      Clean and quiet

The park is nice and clean. Very quiet, it is November and cold for Texas. 50amp service and water only. WiFi is present but currently no internet. Spots aren’t quite level but close enough for an easy setup. Fire rings, and covered picnic tables at each spot. Plenty of space for activities for kids/dogs.

Lake Colorado City State Park Campground

Nice and peaceful Friendly & helpful staff

On the good side, they have helpful , friendly office staff. And, as a bonus, FedEx and UPS deliver here

The campsites range from ‘ok’ to ‘needs help’. A tired park that could use some revamping. We enjoyed the different landscape. Dump station is not really usable for honey cart - surrounded by concrete lip/edging

A different/rugged kind of landscape. Really peaceful. Also somewhat windy - not sure if this is seasonal or not.

Starlink worked fine. T-Mobile, Verizon, Visible and Cricket were light on signal strength. Both Verizon and T-Mobile are 5G and download was ok but upload sucked

Loop road was wide enough for 1 vehicle, but was not a one-way road - cos of drive-thru sites. Plenty of room to pull off, so all good

Lake Colorado City State Park Campground

      Finally found some solitude

The park was at about 10% occupancy so when I got there one dog chained to a trailer without a tow vehicle in sight, apparently left there alone, was barking at me for a brief while. Hey jerks, don't do that to your dog or your neighbors. Mostly it was very quiet with only a couple quiet neighbors over the weekend. I was there for five nights with a great view of the lake and the power plant. The office was not man when I got there so I did not have that little slip of paper to tape to my window like at most Texas State parks. Not a problem.

    What campers like

Budget-friendly options: The region offers several affordable camping alternatives. At Hat Creek RV Park, one camper noted, "The price with Passport America was good at $17.50. Even the full price of 35 is decent. We got FHU and a pull through site in the overnight area way in the back."

Quiet atmosphere: Several parks provide peaceful overnight stays despite proximity to industrial areas. "It's a quiet area and the people in the area were nice!" reports Dave W. about Lamesa, while another reviewer describes Midland East as "Affordable and quiet. What you should know

At Hat Creek RV Park TX, one camper warned, "Our poor dogs' paws were covered in goat heads - we will be buying some dog boots!" Similar issues affect other properties, with one reviewer mentioning "Site was in the right place for our trip nothing there, but Cucklebur's and fire ants all over."

Variable infrastructure quality: Facility maintenance varies significantly between rv parks Big Spring, Texas and surrounding areas. "Roads are full of potholes. Grasses have goat heads in them," reports one camper about Texas RV Park of Big Spring, while noting "Park has made no improvements since opened."

Cell service considerations: Mobile connectivity fluctuates by carrier and location. Clinton Fox campground reports indicate "AT&T very good. Verizon mediocre," which matches patterns at other facilities where AT&T generally provides more reliable service throughout the region.

Verify electrical connections: At free camping areas like Lamesa, electrical reliability fluctuates by site. "Site 10 this time had serviceable electrical hook up...
