    Choke Canyon Estate RV Park

    Decent for short term

Ok for short stay or if you are a worker and not in the park a lot. Road nice is really loud even in the back of the park. Construction company behind is loud too. Laundry and rec room were nice. Several dogs run loose through the park. Be prepared to pick up poop so you don't step in it. Crawfish shrimp and crab stand on the weekend makes great food. Dog area isn't fenced so if your dog is a runner this won't hold them.

    Choke Canyon State Park Campground

    Nice and quiet.

We stopped for the night on the way into North Padre Island. It was a perfect stop after a long day of driving. The sites are large and well spaced. With 50 amp power and water at each site as well as a dump station at the entrance, it has all we need. And it was fun listening to an owl just after sunset.

Mathis Motor Inn & RV Park

    Support Veteran Owners

Recently stayed here cause we got in late and they were the only 1 open to take us in. Well lighten up and loved the laundry room. The manager came out to settle up the next morning and even gave us a free rv mug for our stay. Pet friendly.  Showers  were nice & clean! Wish the pool was open because we had to stay another night but we were told it will be ready soon. The friendly German Shepherd was a bonus since we had our pets out and seems to be unbothered them😳. We will be back for sure. Thank you for the pleasant stay.

    Mustang Hollow Campground

    Campground needs TLC

Fine place to stop on the way through and very friendly staff. There is a petting zoo with miniature donkeys and horses, goats and emus! This was a wonderful treat feeding the critters. Sites are small, dirt and uneven. Pictures show a playground, dog park, etc., however, none of these things exist. It looks like they did at one point, but not in the last decade. No atvs or activities listed on website which was frustrating for the kids. Lake was entirely dry—of course no fault of the campground, but didn’t allow for fishing, etc. There were plenty of sites available but we were placed right by the train tracks and main highway. I do understand why, though, because there are quite a few permanent folks toward the back of the park.

    Bar M RV Park

    Great stop

We stayed here for two days. Gated community with coin laundromat that is open 24/7. Full showers and bathrooms, full hook ups, and a little RV parts store in the office. There is a pool, playground, and dog park on site. Management is very kind and helpful.

    Choke Canyon State Park Campground

    Wide open spaces

The sites are large with plenty of room for kiddos to run around. Sites typically have plenty of room to park a boat as well. Each electric site has a picnic table with covering and a fire pit grill. Some sites offer large trees for shade, but overall shade is sparse.

Jacales Camping Area — Goliad State Park

Not bad for parking lot camping

The Jacales loop is quiet and dark, but it's really just camping in a big parking lot with a picnic table, shade pavilion and grill for each site. There are water and electric at all sites, and each site has two large parking spaces.

Bathroom facilities are old and small. Cleanliness was ok, but moldy shower curtains are gross. (Womens and Men's each have one shower and both curtains were moldy.)

The bike trail that runs to town and to the historic locations was great. The park itself is a great place to learn about history, but we wouldn't spend more than a couple of nights in the Jacales loop while checking out the area.

Guide to Kenedy

Summer temperatures often exceed 95°F, while winter lows typically remain above freezing, creating favorable year-round camping conditions. The area sits at approximately 400 feet above sea level with prairie landscapes characteristic of south Texas.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Green Lake RV Resort features a catch-and-release lake with notably large catfish. "The lake in the middle has catch and release. The fattest catfish I've ever seen. It will however, make you upset releasing since the fish are well fed," reports one camper at Greenlake RV Resort.

Historical exploration: Goliad offers interesting historical sites within driving distance of the Kenedy area. "Make sure to learn about the history of the town from them," advises a visitor to Angels In Goliad RV Park, referring to the knowledgeable hosts who share local historical information.

Urban excursions: San Antonio attractions are accessible from several RV parks in the region. "We stayed 5 nights visiting San Antonio. This is a beautiful park outside of the city on the river. 30 minutes to downtown," notes a reviewer at Vista Ridge RV Park.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Maintenance standards receive frequent positive mentions. "Great place to stay and residents are respectful of each other and owners are great, would recommend to anyone. And very clean facility," notes a camper at Greenlake RV Resort.

Convenient location balance: Parks offer countryside feeling with urban proximity. "Campground makes you feel like you are in the country but close enough to San Antonio to visit downtown in about 20 minutes," explains a visitor to Cactus Country RV Park.

What you should know

Noise considerations: Some locations experience road and industrial noise. "Road noise is really loud even in the back of the park. Construction company behind is loud too," warns a reviewer at Choke Canyon Estate RV Park.
