Houston / Med Center KOA Holiday

Great rv campground close to airport

Great campground with wonderful staff who are very friendly. Full hookup, paved sites with heated saltwater pool and hot tub, workout facilities, clubhouse with games and puzzles, laundry facilities, a small camp store, and pet friendly with two small dog parks. The best thing about the location is that it backs up to Tom Bass park that has wonderful dog parks along with playgrounds and frisbee golf. Would definitely be staying here again!

      Traders Village RV Park

Houston, Tx…..Nothing to get excited about

It’s a large campground and spaces are very small. There’s a grass strip between camp sites. No picnic tables or grills. The office gave us a map and showed us how to get to our site but virtually impossible to understand. A very nice gentleman that stayed here took us to our site. He said they have no idea how to do directions and a buddy of his really messed up his camper by trolling around looking for their site. It’s very crowded and no room for awnings or for both campers side by side to put out awnings. There is a pool but it doesn’t look well maintained and there’s absolutely no chairs. Just the pool and it’s small. Laundry room is large. There’s no dog park or anywhere to walk your dog. Signs everywhere that say no pets, yet they are allowed. The flea market is only on the wknd. It’s close to a lot of restaurants and in a nice area.

      Whispering Oaks RV Park

      Nice campground

We were greeted immediately by a friendly attendant, and quickly led to our campsite. The grounds were lovely, with beautiful live oaks, a manicured walking path among the oaks behind the property, and a nice garden with chickens and guinea fowl for entertainment. The property included a playground, a dog park, and an activity center (inaccessible because of COVID), laundry facilities, propane, and more. Each campsite was very clean, with a picnic table, and lights in the oaks for ambiance.

      I recommend this place!

Houston / Med Center KOA Holiday

      A lot of Amenities

The park is clean, but the sites are tight. The further you get to the front the louder the traffic noise is, but the sites are larger and spaced out more. It is a five and take. It has three locations with washer and dryers, two dog parks, a recreation room and easy access to Tom Bass park.

      South Main RV Park

Good for proximity to NRG stadium

My husband and I came to the Houston rodeo and stayed here strictly for proximity to the stadium. The RV park did have a shuttle which was very nice to get us to and from. Most sites are large enough for big rigs, you do have to park on the gravel right in front of your rig which can be tight. Nice concrete pads at each site. Traffic can be loud and there are many full-time set ups here with permanent residents. Has a gate with a code so it did feel safe at night. Small dog park that could use some extra TLC. Laundry on premises, no play ground, good wifi and Verizon service.

      7 Bridges Luxury RV Resort

Nice but lacks in a few things

The dog park is horrible. It’s all sand and no bag dispenser like other “luxury” resorts have had. The internet is not good at all…tv cut out every two minutes. Nice pool. No trash pick up on Memorial Day and the dumpster was overflowing by that afternoon. Site 55 is NOT for RVs over 36 feet. We have a 42 ft fifth wheel and it was horrible trying to get into the spot.

      Whispering Oaks RV Park

      A quiet little Gem!

What a gem of a park! We only stayed one night so I did not get to use any amenities except for the DOG Park! What a wonderful amenity with the automatic lights for after dark. Park was very clean and quiet. The way the site was set up was truly delightful. Picnic table in just the right place, Oak tree in just the right place, outdoor decorative lighting, awesome fire pit. I really wish I had time to stay longer. This place will be a“must” stay the next time I come thru. Highly recommend!

      Jetstream RV Resort at Waller

      Great RV park!

We stayed here for about 5 weeks and loved our stay! Lots of great amenities and awesome staff! Friendly neighbors and a lot of full timers so not a lot of traffic or noise. The park was clean with full hookups, wide roads and level concrete pads. Pet friendly- our two doggos loved the dog wash station! Highly recommend!

    Guide to Fulshear

Camping near Fulshear, Texas offers diverse recreational options within a Gulf coastal plain environment characterized by clay soils and flat terrain. The region experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 95°F and mild winters, making spring and fall ideal for camping. Area campgrounds provide access to the Brazos River ecosystem and proximity to Houston's western suburbs.

    What to do

Hiking on shaded trails: Stephen F. Austin State Park has numerous trails where hikers can observe local wildlife. "Only spent a night here, but it was VERY quiet, completely dead-flat level site, with electric (30 amp). Saw numerous trails that looked easy, and tree/shade covered," notes Mark M.

Fishing opportunities: Brazos Bend State Park Campground provides accessible fishing spots near camping areas. "There is so much to do. The hiking and bike paths are aplenty. We loved seeing the gators, especially when the babies were hatching," shares Candy P.

Astronomical observation: Visit the observatory at Brazos Bend for stargazing. "The observatory is also incredible. There are so many friendly astronomy enthusiasts who are willing to share a peek through their telescope and share their knowledge," explains Candy P. The observatory maintains weekend hours year-round and hosts special events.

Wildlife viewing: The parks contain diverse ecosystems supporting various species. "We saw lots of deer that came fairly close to us. Nice trails but very busy on weekends as Houstonians escape the city for some country fun!" reports Napunani.

    What campers like

Spacious pull-through sites: Stephen F. Austin State Park Campground offers full-hookup accommodations. "Aside from the fact that the park is very well maintained and there is an abundance of wildlife, you get pull through sites with full hook ups on the cheap!" writes Jim P.

Clean facilities: Campgrounds in the region maintain well-kept restrooms and shower facilities. "The facilities were old, but very well taken care of and clean! Very few bathrooms and showers, so if you are going during peak season be aware you could be waiting in line," notes Brittany S.

Family-friendly environments: The campgrounds accommodate groups well. "I took a trip here with my husband, our son (3yo), my sister-in-law, her husband, their daughter(1yo), and a total of 4 dogs! We had an absolute blast!" shares Brittany S.

Affordability: State parks offer reasonable rates for camping. "I have a State Parks Pass which makes it even more affordable," mentions Jim P., referring to the cost savings at Stephen F. Austin State Park.

    What you should know

Weather considerations: Summer heat requires preparation. "Staying here as a pass through for a few nights. Only downfall is the mosquitos, which isn't the campgrounds fault. Just with the heat and swamps/lakes they are particularly bad," reports Jules S. from Brazos Bend State Park Campground.

Reservation timing: Popular campgrounds fill quickly, especially during cooler months and weekends. "Weekdays are fairly quiet, weekends are very busy," notes MaryG about Jellystone Park.

Park rules: Some campgrounds have specific guidelines. "Generators not allowed, yay," comments Mark M., appreciating the quiet atmosphere at Stephen F. Austin State Park.

Entrance hours: Gates may close at specific times. "Gate open 0800 to 2200," notes Mark M., providing important access information for campers arriving late.

    Tips for camping with families

Water activities for children: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort Waller offers extensive water recreation. "The kids absolutely loved the water zone and lazy river—we literally couldn't get them to leave," shares Emma F.

Theme-based activities: Some campgrounds organize special events. "The themed activities and crafts were a huge hit, especially the Halloween fun!" reports Emma F. about Jellystone Park.

Early morning routines: Plan morning activities to avoid crowds. "Thankfully I am an early riser, and got to the showers by 6 AM with no wait!" advises Brittany S.

Select sites strategically: Choose camping spots based on amenity proximity. "We wanted a site fairly close to the bathrooms because of the kiddos, one big enough to fit us all, and also one with a lot of shade because it was hella hot!" recommends Brittany S.

    Tips from RVers

Specialized pet amenities: Highway 6 RV Resort provides dedicated facilities for dogs. "They have 2 dog runs, one of them being the largest dog run we've seen at a campground so our mali really got to sprint it out. They also had a free dog wash!" reports Marie B.

Site dimensions: Consider space requirements when selecting campgrounds. "Long and wide can accommodate small or large campers and motorhomes," notes Red S. about Brazos Bend State Park's camper pads.

Connectivity options: Many campgrounds offer internet access. "Great free wifi! all paved level sites," shares Marie B. about Highway 6 RV Resort.
