100 acre private camping land with camp site that has a view of the water. Stocked pond with fish and tons of wildlife on the property. Plenty of room to hike and explore. You are able to bring a vehicle right up to campsite. Actively managed to increase and preserve wild life activity. Great place for small or large parties to enjoy an all natural camping experience. Pets are welcome.

Pitch a tent at the far corner of the property to enjoy the natural pond. Just follow the mowed trail to the end. There is a fire pit we use with bricks. Feel free to collect fallen limbs and make a fire where you see responsibly safe. The trail does get muddy after a rain , we will do our best to fill holes that get too deep

    Limited tent sites

We went to check this place out to reserve for a family camp trip. The grounds are clean and spacious. They have wonderful cabins and RV sites. The only have 5 tent sites. There are no tent pads and the sites are on a small hill. The picnic tables are limited and not every tent site has one. There are no fire rings so it’s a little unnerving building a fire on the grass. The lake and marina is wonderful and clean. They have all sorts of thing to do there. Kayak rentals, fishing charters, a cute little cafe. This is a place I would come to rent a cabin but not to tent camp!

    Peaceful place

We tent camped in a primitive spot #47. Overall the spot was nice but not very level making the best placement of our large tent a bit of a challenge. Vault toilets were clean and had hand sanitizer. The nature and hiking in this park was our favorite part. Even rented a canoe and paddled across the lake to the river. Park staff were friendly and helpful. Some primitive tent sites are right on the edge of the lake and after a big rain were very swampy. I believe all sites had partial shade and some have more privacy than others. We did spot some full hook up sites in the RV section that have good space for a tent set up and we may try that next time cause we definitely will be back.

    No tents on weekends

My husband and I went to this site to scope it out for a weekend family camping trip. We drove all over the park and could not find a designated area for tents. We finally stopped at the restaurant/convenient store/bait shop and asked where are the tent sites. He asked when we wanted to stay and we gave him the dates. He then informed us they do not allow tents during the weekend. Some customers there recommended a different park.

This is a RV park. There is no tent sites. From what we could see a lot of the RVs live at the park. It doesn’t look like a camping site of any sort. It looks more like a trailer park. We were greatly disappointed.

    Hidden gem

Beautiful small state park. We usually tent camp but this time we decided staying at a cabin. Nice, beautiful and modern cabins. Love the enclosed porch and open porch as well. The cabin was spacious enough for our family of 6. The new family restroom close to the cabins was great, nice and clean. I will be back.

    Family Camping Dream Come True!

Camping amongst the llamas was a dream come true! It was everything we hoped for- and more! You can tell Judy does this for the love of llamas. We got a tour of the pasture, and met all of the llamas by name. We got to feed the llamas, and they hung around our camp for almost our entire visit. We. Had. A. Blast.

Multiple fire pits and picnic tables per site. Big, shady trees to escape the beating Texas sun. And we felt safe enough to let our boys camp in their own tent for the first time. Not too far from the city, but definitely feels like you're in the middle of nowhere. Tent sites aren't secluded, but they aren't close-by either, and our neighbors were never bother. 10/10 we will definitely be back.

One of my favorite Texas State Parks!

On our spring 2017 RV adventure we spent two nights RV camping at Fairfield Lake State Park. Fairfield Lake State Park is such a beautiful place to camp, fish and swim. We realy enjoy this stunning park! The campground at Fairfield Lake State Park is heavily treed and very well shaded. Thanks to being located on a power plant lake Fairfield Lake State Park has great fishing! Stocked with Red Drum, Bass, catfish and even Blue Tilapia there is a fish for everyone! Fairfield Lake State Park is one of my favorite Texas State Parks! You will not regret spending any amount of time visiting Fairfield Lake State Park.

I have several videos of this great park on my YouTube ....DudeRV.com

Fairfield is a great place to camp

Fairfield is relatively easy to get to being only about 2 hours outside of DFW. Well shaded with large trees for hammocks, plenty of hiking and wildlife. It also has some amazing stargazing. While it isn't the darkest sky, you can see the Milky Way on a clear night.

    Fairfield Lake: spring favorite

Fairfield offers a great weekend getaway location! The park boasts a large selection of shaded camp spots (i.e. lots of space for hammocks!) that offer privacy from one another. Visited on a holiday weekend, and it didn't feel crowded at all. Walk down to the lake or explore several miles of walking trails. Perfect night out! As a bonus, visit the Cooper Farms store right across the highway (exit 198) for the best fresh peaches and peach ice cream you've ever tasted!

    nature & wildlife!

We stopped here overnight on the way home from Renfest in October 2017... it was rustic, we saw a couple of wild hogs on the way to our campsite.

Like the other state parks we had been to, there was running water, tent pads & a nearby restroom. Since we were only there for one night, we didn't get a chance to explore the park.

    A Nice, Warm Night

Right by the water, and gorgeous at sunrise. There are good water, shower, and toilet amenities you’d expect from a decent campsite. Do not get a room; bring a tent or RV (way cheaper, we paid $18 for our car.) If you arrive late, they can hold your credit card when you book over the phone, and you can pay in the morning. Friendly staff, and incredible lake.

    Pretty park, crowded sites

This park is beautiful with lots of areas to explore. The camp sites are all in one location and are very close to one another. Some sites are awesome while others are kind of awful, unfortunately. We were in site 004 and it wasn't great. There wasn't a good spot for a tent or a hammock. However, site 005 was much better. The sites that are listed as next to the bathrooms are RIGHT next to the bathrooms.

I Love Fort Parker State Park!

In early March of 2020, right at the beginning of the Covid 19 Pandimic, I had the opportunity to visit Fort Parker State Park is located next to the town of Mexia Texas and sits on the banks of Fort Parker Lake. This great Texas State Park was built by the CCC starting in 1935 and finishing in 1942. The CCC Company 3807(C) that constructed the park and for recreation was an an all African American CCC Camp. Old Fort Parker was rebuilt by the CCC in preparation for a Texas Centennial Observance in 1936, the rest of the constructs were completed over 6 years. Fort Parker State Park was dedicated in May 1941. Fort Parker State Park provides an excellent location for family camping trips, great family reunions or just a fun day hiking and exploring. Come along with me as I explore Fort Parker State Park!

    Quiet, lush getaway

We brought our dog here for his first ever camping trip, and this was the perfect place and time to do so. We arrived as the weekend crowd was departing, so of dozens of sites, the site we chose was one of only four that were occupied that night. Thus, it was fabulously quiet and we were undisturbed. Our particular spot (#36) was large with many trees and plenty of brush for privacy; the ground was soft and flat for our tent; and the nearby bathrooms were relatively clean. Park staff were friendly and helpful. We were barraged by bugs at dusk, but once our fire was roaring, the smoke helped fend them off. And per the suggestion of another reviewer, we sure did pop over to the Cooper Farms store to try the peach ice cream, a delectable treat with which to end our out-of-town excursion.

    Fisherman Paradise....Not for Everyone

The front guardhouse/entrance is extra campy. Low light and decorated with 69 yo 74lb catch pictures. This is by far the most fisherman geared Texas State Park we have been to and it's our 12th!

The playground is nicer than expected. The tr ails are well-marked.

A quirk of this park are the neighbors. You drive by 8 plus mailboxes while inside the State Park. An abandoned home half collapsed is seen from the roadway. So that's unique.

Beautiful and generally well kept. It's an older style but they have a newer playground area next to the old one.

    For a family I give this a 2. For Fisherman a 5. For everyone else a 3.

    Liberty Hill Park Campground

Really Nice Campground, BUT my God the ants!

Liberty hill is a very beautiful campground but there is a serius issue with the invasive Argentian ant. This is a great campground to spend a few days or weeks relaxing and catching fish. Lake Navarro Mills is well know as the best Crappie fishing lake in Texas. Navarro Mills Liberty Hill Park features a fantastic fishing barge that is covered allowing you to fish no matter the weather. Our visit to Liberty Hill Park at Navarro Mills Lake was a real treat with one minor exception, Argentine Ants, these can be a real issue when RV camping at Liberty Hill Park as this invasive species is out of control at Liberty Hill Park. Limestone Lake Park

Not as great as people make it out

This park is not as great as other reviews lead you to believe. I'll break it down:

    1. They don't allow campfires. As in, none. There are no fire rings. That right there takes it off the list for me.
    2. It’s your typical park in a lot and haul stuff to your campsite. Texas really needs to get with the program that car camping is a huge thing.
    3. Most of the picnic tables are uncovered. There are some that are and I managed to get one, but if it’s busy they'll be taken quickly.

It is a nice area and a good view of the lake. It’s fairly close to the water but the lake it low so you'd have to jump down a bit in order to get to it currently.

All in all not terrible but the no campfire thing is puzzling. I wouldn't come back. There are better places- Possum Kingdom I'm looking at you.

    Limestone Lake Park

    Perfect Spot by the Lake

I'm surprised no one else has reviewed this place yet, it is awesome! Other than the occasional local on their boats making noise, this place was pretty serene. The drive to the location is very rural once you exit 45. Many nice folks in the community here were waving at me when I drove by.

I decided to stay here because it was free and I did not feel like driving further to Dallas. There are porta potties available stocked with toilet paper. There are 3 or 4 small roads to take once you get inside, which lead you towards the lake. You can get an RV inside a few of the spots without obscuring entry for other vehicles. There is one large patio for events and has seating for about 25 people.

There are fish in the lake, one foot long dead floating bass was right in front of me. Plenty of smaller fish dancing on the water. There are areas to bbq as well. A couple docks you can walk off that are small and can cast a fishing rod.

The place was decently busy for a hidden gem, though I was the only person on my side of the area. I was there on a Saturday so perhaps during the week it is more quiet.

This was one of my favorite places I've stayed at in Texas so far (haven't been to a lot of locations so far in the state) and would definitely return again with better preparation and additional family members and friends.

    Awful

Beware!!!! The new owners of this park are rude, unkind, selfish, greedy people. They allow drugs to run in and out of the park they leave the supposedly secure gate open all night long so anyone can come in. They don't take care of the park and everything is run down. They change the prices when ever it suits them don't believe the online prices. It's a shame that someone who was kind and generous had to pass just so people who never had to work or earn anything gets control over it and doesn't have any care in taking care of what was suppose to be a gift. It's just sad to see what the park is and has become from what it could have been and is now gonna be.

    Nice place to get away

I camped in the Springfield loop. Fairly new picnic table, decent site for a hammock. I hiked and ran on the Dockery Trail, which has a nice mix of parks and pines. I also visited the swimming area which was a 4 mile drive, though I didn't swim.

Can over for a day use before the park closes permanently. Such a beautiful park , sad I didn’t get a chance to camp. Let’s start the review.

The trails were nicely labeled the kids and I enjoyed hiking and stoping take in the beautiful park before it gets transform into a million dollar community. Restroom was nice and clean. Visit towards the end of February Ann’s it was such a great weather.

    True Nature

A beautiful park for those that love true nature. This park is huge and has several miles of hiking trail options. Although the park is very large, the campsites are quite crowded and set to one area of the lake. For those wanting to camp with a view of the water, don’t go. This lake is very grassy on the edges (tall/thick cattails) and it is really wooded along the shoreline. With that being said, it does have a nice and large swimming area with sandy bottom. Staff was extremely friendly!!
