      Mission RV Park

      Not as expected

We checked out the website prior to booking and were planning on staying for a full week, which luckily didn’t pan out. When we checked in we were told we could only stay a night, despite having made a week-long reservation. Understandable given the circumstances, but it would’ve been prudent to inform of that fact on the website. The receptionist was helpful and gave us a number to another rv park in the proximity, which was sweet of her. The park seems to have good amenities, and there is a little dog park at the end of the lot and a pool by the office, but it is right next to a truck storage facility and right by the I10, so it isn’t the most tranquil. The website is slightly misleading, and I don’t think I would stay here more than a night or two.

      El Paso Roadrunner RV Park

      Did the job!

We were only here a night. I reserved online and it didn’t take into account that we were hauling a jeep behind. They put us in the first space on the corner. Not big enough and some of the cars come in here a little fast!
They offer laundry, dog park, picnic area and if you need service or parts for your RV as well. On our way here some how the connection between our RV and Jeep came disconnected and the cord was dragging. We had to replace it. We stopped at a camping world to replace it. Wish we could have made it here before that happened!

      Great Military Friendly RV Park

Sites are fairly close. Wifi is good throughout the park, pet amenities need work but for being so close to the interstate it is exceptionally quiet. Manager is nice and accommodating. On site repair facility with accessories if needed.

BLM Dispersed camping along B059 New Mexico

      Didn’t feel safe

I’ve stayed at many BLM sites, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had. Multiple people parked inside my designated campsite rather than using the nearby trailhead parking. As a solo traveler, I did not feel comfortable with strangers choosing to park directly next to my camper.

There were several hunters who were openly disrespectful and appeared annoyed that I was camping there, despite the fact that I stayed inside my camper and did not interact with them. The only noise from my site were my dogs barking when people got too close. They also took issue with my Ring camera, which continued recording because they were standing very close to my camper.

After hunting, they left animal remains outside my camper and made comments hoping my dogs would get into it. As they left, they ran over and destroyed the fire pit. I contacted a BLM officer, who said they would come clean it up, but no one ever did.

The views are beautiful, but I would not return. The roads are very rough, and only a few campsites are camper-friendly unless you have a high-clearance vehicle.

      El Paso Roadrunner RV Park

      Served its purpose

Had to make an unexpected stop in El Paso. Was thankful for a place to pull in. Full hookups. The pad area is well maintained; perimeter areas not so much. Good for a basic, utilitarian stay. Within walking distance to Rudy's if you want some good Texas BBQ.

      Gleatherland

      Many amenities , great location

Hueco Tanks is a very small Texas state park and we couldn’t get a campsite. We were extremely pleased with what Gleatherland offered us. Great hot shower, internet, a dump station and campsite hook ups for our RV. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Really enjoyed our stay and the Ranger tour of the pictographs in the park that is so close by.

    Guide to Clint

The Clint, Texas region offers desert camping options within the high Chihuahuan Desert at elevations ranging from 3,700-7,200 feet. Summer temperatures frequently exceed 100°F, while winter nights can drop below freezing. Most campgrounds remain open year-round with varying levels of amenities for both tent and RV campers seeking pet-friendly accommodations.

    What to do

Explore ancient pictographs: Hueco Tanks State Park, located about 30 miles from Clint, features significant Native American rock art. A visitor notes, "We stayed in the campground and did the self guided hike the first day, then decided to book a tour for the next day. Both were well worth doing and the guided tour was only $5 p/person and lasted about 3 hrs" (Hueco Tanks State Park Campground).

Desert hiking with pets: Franklin Mountains State Park offers numerous pet-friendly trails with desert landscape views. One camper reported, "Lots of hiking trails and scenery. The rv parking is small only has 5 sites and no amenities. Be cautious if you have a big rig the spots are not very long and are pull in pull out" (Franklin Mountains State Park Campground).

Night sky viewing: The desert areas around Clint provide excellent stargazing opportunities. At Gleatherland campground, located 5 miles from Hueco Tanks, visitors experience "Quiet nights with low light pollution for amazing stargazing opportunities!"

    What campers like

Easy access from interstate: Many campgrounds near Clint offer convenient highway access for travelers with pets. One reviewer of El Paso Roadrunner RV Park notes, "Easy on off of interstate 10, service road on both sides of 10 with easy u turns from side to side make it easy to navigate town. All kinds of great restaurants and shopping" (El Paso Roadrunner RV Park).

Desert wildlife encounters: The region supports unique desert wildlife viewing. A camper at Hueco Tanks observed, "It is on a Native American Reservation. Has wild mountain goats roaming right next to your tent and has off path trails that lead to incredible views."

Private dog recreation areas: Several campgrounds offer dedicated pet exercise spaces. The Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino RV area provides "Water, electric and dump station for $15/night. It is just a parking lot though. The steak house was excellent and the staff are all friendly and helpful" (Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino).

    What you should know

Reservation requirements: Some parks have limited access or require advance planning. A Hueco Tanks visitor warned, "Cant get in between the hours of 8am & 10am, unless you have a online reservation to even just stay for the day. Closes at 5pm sharp."

Weather preparation: Summer heat in the Clint area requires careful planning for pet-friendly camping trips. A Mission RV Park guest recommended, "We stayed one night (May 30, 2022). The is a nice, easy access CG with large, level pull through and back in gravel sites. It is located at the I-10 and 375 interchange next to a trucking container storage facility– there is a lot of road noise and trucking activity, but no bother" (Mission RV Park).

Noise considerations: Highway proximity affects several campgrounds. As one camper noted about Roadrunner RV Park, "It is in town so you know what that means, trains, planes, trucks and automobiles. It is loud."

    Tips for camping with families

Budget-friendly options: For families seeking pet-friendly camping near Clint, Texas, Gleatherland offers economical choices. A visitor mentioned, "From primitive camping for $5/night to limited RV hook-ups (gray water, fresh water, electric), yurt & trailer rentals, to a beautiful home Airbnb" (Gleatherland).

We enjoyed exploring the park and climbing the mountains. Campers had to get a permit to climb the mountain by 10 a.m. or they would lose their chance to climb."

    Tips from RVers
