    Mission City RV Park

    Cream of the Crop

You don't get a much nicer RV park than this in a major city. It hits all of the marks: mass transit at your doorstep; pool, laundry, showers and a gift shop at the entrance; easy pull-through, level sites; picnic tables at each site; quaint southwestern style! This is a nice park for the overnight or the long stay, and it has easy access to major highways.

Hill Country RV Resort & Cottage Rentals

Nice Park with little room between sites

The park it’s self is nice and clean.  Staff for the most part is friendly and nice.  The pool is a hopping place over summer break and on the weekends when it’s warm.  RV sites are tight in the daily/weekly sites and parking your 40+ foot rig and tow vehicle in the spot are probably not happening.  They do have over flow parking and depending on your site it could be a good walk.

They are pet friendly and have several dog parks and potty areas through out the park.  The laundry room is like no other I’ve ever been too.  All machines operate via debit/credit cards, no more quarters!!

Over all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this park for monthly stays or in one of their top tier sites for daily/weekly stays.

    Alsatian RV Resort

    Exceptional Customer Service

This campground(CG)/RV resort has exceptional customer service. We were on a waitlist to add another day to our reservation. They proactively called us back about a month later to let us know they could accommodate another night’s stay. We followed the website instructions to come in so we could take a right turn into the RV Resort, which is a 1/4 mile from the golf course entrance. A very short rig could take a left turn. The gate was down so we called the number listed on the gate and we were let in for a very pleasant check-in. We were assigned pull-through site 406 with FHUs. There’s a slope off the front of the site, so I needed to center the rig on the level part of the cement pad. By doing this I needed 20’ of sewer hose to get from my rear black tank to the sewer. The CG was quiet with no kids running around as this is a 55+ CG. The guest internet was below average for a park this size, but we have Starlink. We got 3 bars on Verizon. Most of the campers here were seasonal with license plates from CO, MN, and WI. Several of the campers we talked to didn’t golf and came here to get away from cold weather. We did not see any overnighters during our four-day stay but this CG is fairly far from the San Antonio area interstates. CG was well-kept with no junky sites. They have a laundry room, but a couple of machines were not working. The sites were decently spaced and very long. Many reviewers called the sites spacious. The sites were not as far apart or as large when compared to many of the State Parks or Corps of Engineers CGs we’ve stayed. Get pizza from Luigi's Italian Restaurant in nearby Castroville as it’s in the top 5 pizzas we’ve had as we traveled through all lower 48 states. We enjoyed our stay, including playing their challenging golf course, and would definitely return.

    Castroville Regional Park

    Great

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Castroville Regional Park, and it was an amazing experience! The park is beautiful and well-maintained, offering a peaceful and scenic environment. The campsites are spacious, and I loved how they’re equipped with picnic tables, fire pits, and plenty of space for tents or RVs. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The nearby Medina River was perfect for a relaxing afternoon, and there are plenty of hiking and biking trails to explore. I also appreciated the clean restrooms and showers, which made the experience much more convenient. Overall, Castroville Regional Park is a great choice for a family-friendly getaway or a peaceful retreat into nature. I’ll definitely be coming back!

    Fort Sam Houston Army RV

    Good trip!

All the sites are pull-through with full hookups(30 and 50 amp), and spacious enough for even the largest rigs. The grass was freshly mowed, and the park was clean. Staff were super friendly. There's a decent dog run at the back, propane available for purchase on-site, and two wash houses with washers and dryers. A large playground keeps the little ones entertained. Despite many full-timers, there were still plenty of open spots. It was very quiet—aside from the occasional train, which isn’t noticeable with the A/C running. Would be a 5-star stay if there were just a bit more shade [geometry dash 3d](https://geometrydash3d.com).

    Kerrville-Schreiner Park

    Good family friendly park

This park was close to a local event we wanted to attend, and we were very happy with it and will definitely go back. The first row is all pull through sites with full hookups, although we do have a shorter trailer (24’) and I’m not sure how much luck you would have with a truly big one. Most sites had a stone or wood picnic table, shady trees, and a fire ring. We saw a deer, squirrels, and even a herd of blackbuck antelope. Our particular site was number 121 and it had a feral cat shelter, which we saw several of the cats and one caretaker stop by. There are hiking trails and the park itself is minutes from many nearby attractions. My husband checked out the camp bathrooms for me for this review and he said they were smaller but clean and acceptable.

Overall a comfortable little park, sites not overcrowded together, and reasonably priced. Good job Kerrville.

Guide to Castroville

Castroville area campgrounds range from grassy, spacious sites to riverside locations with water recreation access. The region experiences typical Hill Country climate patterns with summer highs frequently reaching the mid-90s and cooler winters with occasional freezing temperatures. Most camping facilities in this region operate year-round with seasonal pricing adjustments based on demand during holiday periods.

What to do

Kayaking on Medina River: At Boulderdash Cabin & RV Park visitors can access the Medina River directly from the campground. "We enjoyed the grill in the common area down by the river which was a short steep walk from our site," notes Karen B., who appreciates the river access despite the terrain.

Bike trail access: Mission City RV Park offers convenient access to cycling paths. "There is an awesome walk/bike path about a mile away. Very peaceful and easy terrain for a great walk or bike ride," according to Kathy H., who stayed at the park while exploring San Antonio.

Wildlife viewing: Many campers report regular deer sightings throughout the area. Boulderdash provides corn for wildlife interaction, with one reviewer noting, "The owners are extremely kind and helpful, even providing corn to feed the deer."

Golf course access: Campsites near Alsatian RV Resort offer golf recreation. "Overlooks a golf course. There spots with casitas that are right on the golf course," reports Gerry P., highlighting the proximity to golfing opportunities.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Thousand Trails Medina Lake receives positive feedback for its site dimensions. "Medina Lake Thousand Trails RV Park is an awesome campground with large sites and lot of nature! There are trees and shade and it is along Medina Lake shores," notes Jeff & Steff's Excellent Adventure.

Clean facilities: Well-maintained bathrooms and showers rank highly among camper priorities. "The bathroom and shower is in a horse trailer. It's very clean and cute and unique," reports Becky B. about her stay at Boulderdash Cabin & RV Park.

Pool amenities: Several rv sites near Castroville, Texas feature swimming facilities. "The pool was smaller in size but very clean and well kept," explains Oiram N. about Travelers World RV Resort, highlighting the value of water recreation options during hot weather.

Night sky viewing: Campgrounds outside city limits offer stargazing opportunities. "Peacefully quiet at night and light is just enough to see but not too much to obscure the sky full of stars," reports Tina E. about Alsatian RV Resort.

What you should know

Security considerations: Some campgrounds implement specific safety measures. "Security is excellent and everyone is given a unique code for the car gate," states kristin S. about Mission City RV Park, noting the controlled access system.

Water pressure variations: Several campgrounds report strong water pressure requiring equipment adjustments. "High water pressure; you'll need a pressure regulator. They sell them at the office!" warns Diane about Travelers World RV Resort.

Varying site surfaces: Surface materials differ between camping locations around Castroville. "The grounds are pretty standard with paved roads and gravel sites. The gravel is packed nicely and the sites are mostly level," explains kristin S., describing site conditions at Mission City RV Park.

Neighborhood context: Location characteristics vary significantly between campgrounds. "When you first roll up I felt a bit skeptical. Surrounding area appeared to be rough bars on windows Homeless foot traffic seemed high. Once you get inside the park it changed," reports Oiram N., highlighting the contrast between immediate surroundings and campground conditions.

Tips for camping with families

Recreation options: Multiple family-friendly activities exist at different campgrounds. "There are lots of amenities such as a huge pool, playgrounds, dog runs, restrooms, laundry, trails, boat launch, community center, games, basketball, pickle ball, mini golf, and so much more! Fun for the whole family," shares Jeff & Steff's Excellent Adventure about their Thousand Trails Medina Lake stay.

Entertainment amenities: Some campgrounds provide media resources for guest use. "Movies to borrow and books to read. Staff is great, great location," mentions Fighter J. about their experience at Travelers World RV Resort.

Local attractions: Regional points of interest enhance camping experiences. "Located about 5 miles from The Alamo and Riverwalk. Both are a must see. We spent 3 days here and this park did not disappoint," states Kirk J. regarding Travelers World RV Resort location.

Food recommendations: Local dining adds value to camping trips near Castroville. "Do yourself a favor, look up Rays Drive Inn, it's worth the drive to get San Antonio's best puffy tacos," recommends Troy from a review of Travelers World RV Resort.

Tips from RVers

Space between sites: Site spacing affects privacy levels at Al's Hideaway Cabin and RV Rentals. "Grassy space between each RV space with room to enjoy without being too close to neighbors RV," notes Jennifer G., highlighting the separation between camping units.

Site length requirements: Long rigs need specific information about accommodation. "The sites were decently spaced and very long. Many reviewers called the sites spacious," explains MickandKarla W. about their Alsatian RV Resort experience.

Internet considerations: Connectivity varies significantly between campgrounds. "We work full-time remote and this has beautiful clear views of the sky for our Starlink dishy," reports Ed C. about Alsatian RV Resort, noting the unobstructed satellite access.

Laundry facilities: Onsite laundry equipment quality differs between locations. "The place that surprised me was just how nice the laundry room was... The laundry room was super nice 8 very clean washers and 8 dryers smelled super nice and had a TV just in case you felt like waiting," describes Oiram N. about Travelers World RV Resort amenities.
