Best RV Parks & Resorts near Huntsville, TN

Royal Blue RV Park in Pioneer offers year-round camping with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections for recreational vehicles. Sites accommodate various RV sizes with standard amenities like picnic tables and fire rings. "Sites were fairly level. I had to use 2 yellow flat blocks on site 1," noted one camper describing their experience at a nearby park. Brooks Corner Campground & RV Park provides additional options with 50-amp electrical service, while Maple Hill RV Park & Cabins in Jamestown features 26 sites that can handle both small and medium-sized motorhomes, though their big rig accessibility may be limited.

Several campgrounds in the region require advance planning during peak seasons, particularly in fall when foliage attracts more visitors. Navigation to some parks involves mountain roads with steep grades and switchbacks, as one reviewer cautioned: "Do not arrive from the East (Oneida side) 13 degree inclines and declines with very sharp hairpin switchbacks." Most RV parks provide dump stations for waste disposal, though placement varies in convenience. Cell service fluctuates throughout the area, with Verizon generally providing better coverage than other carriers. Pet policies are typically accommodating, with designated pet areas available at select locations. Wintertime camping remains available at multiple parks, though amenities like pools and camp stores operate on reduced schedules.

Ridgeline Campground — Cumberland Falls State Resort Park

    Small but Nice!

Easy to find, well marked. It’s has many (12) trails and many falls. Would definitely recommend shopping before camping, it’s several miles, and mountains, to get to stores. There are several lodging options…cottages, The Lodge, (which is beautiful) tent and RV camping. There are 2 small campgrounds ~ 1) Ridgeline which accommodates RVs up to 26”, water and 10/30/50 amp hook ups. Sites have a fire ring and picnic table. WiFi is available, and there is a dump station. A small playground, office/campstore, and a bathhouse and laundry next to it. 3 sites are walk-in. Big rigs would have to stay elsewhere. 2) Clifty Campground is tent camping only 7 sites offer electric and water. WiFi is also offered. There is a bathhouse and a playground, and these CG’s are pet friendly. (Falls Creek is a few miles up the road…they have pull through and back ins. For bigger Rvs. They also have tents, wagons, cabin rentals, and primitive sites) We had no T-Mobile service, or satellite service in our vehicle. The trails and Cumberland falls were awesome. The horse rides looked amazing, and the Pool was big, with a diving board, and a small fee for campers to use it.

    Spring Lake RV Resort

    Nice and quiet little campground.

64 full hook-up with 30 and 50 amp electric on the sites. Site 1 only had a 30 amp and was the smallest in the campground. They had wifi and cable TV that was available. Sites were fairly level. I had to use 2 yellow flat blocks on site 1. Restrooms and showers were closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. We were told they were full but several sites remained empty during our stay. Would have liked to have had a lake side site or a larger level site. Owners were friendly as well as the guests. I believe they had some full-time living there too. I would go back.

    Spring Lake RV Resort

Our favorite RV park this trip

We were on an sudden, urgent trip with minimal pre-planning and no reservations. We contacted Spring Lake an hour before arrival and they were super helpful, providing a level overnight pull-through site reservation. We were arriving an hour after the office closed and they made arrangements to help us get settled. We were so appreciative of the consideration. Overall we felt the amenities and the setting were the nicest of this 1200 mile trip. Pretty, very well maintained. Level sites with picnic table and convenient hook-ups. The sites are built around a small lake. I suspect most of the leases are long-term. Friendly manager and friendly residents. We walked around the lake and found they had sitting areas and gazebos where you could relax during the day or at night. A couple of miles off the interstate so no road noise and very quiet at night. You can pick up fast food dinner on the way to the park.

Melton Hill Dam Campground — Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)

    Beautiful and peaceful

The campsite sits right beside the Tennessee river. There are 9 full hookup sites and many of the rest have power and water. Large river swimming area. Most sites are level with concrete tables, fire pits and grills. Bathrooms are clean and adequate. Bathrooms in the day use area are less so. Store is small with snacks, ice, drinks and ice cream. Staff very nice and RV’ers themselves. Family friendly. Pull through dump site. Love Truck Stop at entrance to I-40. $ rate and honors America Pass.

    Cumberland Mountain State Park Campground

Great for RVs, Ok for Tents

This campground is located within the Cumberland Mountain State Park. The sites are set up for RVs and it is very popular.

Pros: There is no camp store, but there are vending machines available. There are restrooms available. Staff is in the office during business hours. There are 2 short hiking trails (less than 1 mile in length each). There are playgrounds, a lake for fishing, and a golf course. Each site has parking for 1 vehicle, a large gravel pad, water and electric hookup, picnic table, and lantern hook.

Cons: site are very close together. Tents and RVs do not have separate loops. No camp store. No showers.

Overall, this campground is set up to cater more toward those with RVs than people camping in tents.

    Sheltowee Trace Adventure Resort

Great base camp for the area

Great place to stay for Cumberland Falls. Clean facilities. The place is great for any size RV/Camper. I was in a 40 footer. Just a few need to knows.

    • Wireless is unreliable and if there are a lot of people it is unavailable -Limited cell service really only consistent if you walk up to the road, I dont have booster.
    • Only the pull thru sites have sewer taps. All sites have water and 50 amp service though and a dump station is available.

Guide to Huntsville

RV camping near Huntsville, Tennessee offers access to the Cumberland Mountains at elevations ranging from 1,200 to 3,000 feet. This northern Tennessee region experiences warm summers with temperatures averaging 85°F and cool winters that can drop below freezing at night. Sites vary from primitive forest locations to full-hookup facilities, with electrical access limited at some smaller campgrounds during peak seasonal use.

What to do

Off-road trails: Royal Blue RV Park provides direct access to extensive trail systems. "The trails are well maintained and all levels of riders will have a full week of fun here!!" notes one camper. This area connects to over 300 miles of ATV and off-road vehicle routes.

Historic exploration: Visitors near Brooks Corner Campground & RV Park can explore the historic village of Rugby. "Both the store and town are a step back in history," shares a visitor who found it less than a mile from their campsite.

Fishing opportunities: The waterfront locations provide excellent angling options. "If you are wanting to fish the bank or even put in kayaks this spot is money. The tent sights are located right on a great fishing cove," explains a camper about the lakefront access.

What campers like

Dark sky viewing: Rural settings provide exceptional stargazing conditions. "Star view on a clear night is awesome due to the lack of nearby city lights," reported a camper at Brooks Corner Campground. Light pollution remains minimal throughout much of the region.

General store access: Southlake RV Park offers convenient on-site supplies. One camper notes, "Laundry is adequate and fairly priced and bonus takes credit cards for payment (no looking for change)." The nearby locations provide basic necessities without requiring long drives.

Level sites: Some parks feature improved parking surfaces. "Every site comes with full hookups, making it super convenient for all your RV needs. The entire park is laid out with beautiful asphalt, which not only looks great but also provides a smooth surface for parking," observed a visitor at Cumberland Falls RV Resort.

What you should know

Cell service variations: Connectivity varies significantly by carrier. "I have a dual LTE router that I was only getting ATT 3G signal with normal antennas but once I connected the exterior antenna I had been waiting to install I got 4 bars ATT LTE (105 dbM)," explains one camper detailing their experience with signal strength.

Water quality concerns: Inspect water sources before connecting. A camper at Maple Hill RV Park & Cabins reported: "We didn't notice this the first day, but I started seeing brownish water in our toilet. When we unhooked and sprayed out our filter, it was filled with filthy gunk."

Noise considerations: Highway proximity affects some sites. "The tent spots towards the point are apparently very close to the hwy and morning commute traffic was pretty loud. It is probably not near as loud on the weekends but we stayed Sun night so heard Mon morning commute traffic," cautions a visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Safety features: Windrock Gap Campground & RV Park maintains family-friendly facilities. "Convenient campground close to windrock park. Staff is friendly and responsive," notes a visitor. The well-maintained grounds provide secure environments for children.

Swimming options: Several parks offer water recreation during summer. "They also have a nice pool!" mentions a camper who appreciated the additional amenity for children during hot weather months.

Grocery planning: Stock up before arrival. "Groceries: Walmart (Oneida40m/Jamestown25), Dollar Trees (Jamestown or near Eglin/Robbins both are~20m away)," advises a camper documenting nearby shopping options for family meal planning.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Prepare for uneven terrain. "The one review that was posted said the sites were level. Where we parked which was 9 is not. It's uphill and was very difficult to level out the rv. Ours like many is self leveling and it just couldn't make it happen," warns one RVer.

Site selection strategy: Escapees Raccoon Valley RV Park offers varying site quality. "Sites are close together, but that just makes it more neighborly. Nice laundry room with a lending library (one of my favorite features!) Easy access to the highway," describes a visitor who found advantages in the compact layout.

Propane availability: Plan for fuel needs. "Propane is available for: 20lbs swap-outs at the local Dollar Trees (Jamestown or near Eglin/Robbins both are 20m away), Fillings at Tractor Supply (Oneida40m/Jamestown25) or Schaefer and Schaefer Welding Supplies (Oneida40m)," advises an experienced camper.
