Not a fun stay. Not a fun review to write. :/

Stayed 4 days in A32; the last site on the lake view row.

Before booking this campground you may want to know a few things we didn't:

  • The entire campground is monthly renters except for a few sites along the lake. If they were taken care of that may not be a bad thing, but they were not as most were mildewed, covered in leaves, and many had dead vehicles parked about.
  • A32's view of the lake was obscured by a huge mound of cedar mulch that was infested with stink bugs. And an electrical tower was less than 20 feet from the site and totally ruined any view of the cove.  The next door sites do have a good view tho.
  • The stink bugs were so bad we abandoned our outdoor time and just hung out inside our camper.
  • The sewer is located on an actual incline from the camper sewer outlet. We tried to position our camper to where the drainage could be better but the site was too narrow to adjust enough to overcome the issue.  Ew.
  • The water spigot is so far away that it took two water hoses to reach it. Thankfully we had an extra one on board. Not sure, but think it may be between the distance and the fast leak around the on/off knob is why the pressure was so low.
  • There was no fire ring or picnic table. But with so many stink bugs we decided cooking or eating outside wasn't an option, so didn't really miss them.
  • It was the last week of September.  This campground is very Halloween centric! It may be a bit unfair to list the decor as a negative, but when I say there was a lot.... there was A LOT of cheap plastic horror scenes strewn about.  Had it been taken care of after bad weather maybe it would have not seemed so tasteless, but hey, I doubt Ole Bone's cares if his femur is in one campsite and his ribs are in another! haha

This campsite was a real bust for us; four wasted camping days.  Had I read this review while considering where to stay I would have saved $170.

Since the refund policy is not in favor of the disappointed here, maybe this review will give insight to A32's details that may effect your stay as well.

There are a couple of positives worth mentioning:

  • It is very close to downtown Knoxville! We spent much time at Market Square and Old Town. So much fun!
  • Compared to the other private campsites I considered, this one costs less.

This place needs a lot of work

The only thing positive about this place is its proximity to downtown Knoxville. Roads are in bad shape, sites are close and uneven, lots of seasonal sites with lots of junk around. We would not stay here again.

Fun holiday lights

Smaller park on a pond that looked like much of the water had drained from it. Possibly just for the winter. We had a late check in so our information was left attached to the front door making it easy for us. Pretty basic campground with limited amenities.

Nice campground

Our site us overlooking the lake and the view is beautiful. Close to downtown and the mountains. Only downfall is very spotty wifi in some areas.

Not for tents

Was put in a parking lot in the middle of the park with no privacy or anything. Campground felt more like a trailer park, because it was overcrowded and had many people actually living there full time. There was no fire pit or place to cook food.

Tight unlevel spaces wifi $8/day

Sites are not well developed with power and sewer in odd places. Monthly rentals and not well kept. Has lake access but big manufacturing plant nearby and a little noisy, wouldn't swim here.

Average

We stayed one night a very busy campground all sites were full. It is an older campground and is in need of updating. Campground hosts were helpful. Nice view of the lake . Many long term residents.

Overall quiet and fairly priced but some long termers bring down the qualit

So this campground is in a decent location not far from town (Knoxville) and right off lake inlet and A26 is right off lake. Only regarding my location its been quiet and people keep to themselves other than being neighborly. May get a bit more noisy on weekend as people roll in with kids and pets. Laundry is adequate and fairly priced and bonus takes credit cards for payment (no looking for change). Its a bit run down but for 38/night for full hookup and weekly rate knocks off a night its not bad. There are some long termers here that bring the aesthetic down with very old campers and trash and older equipment and cars around but around my area its clean, so I only see it on my way out the loop. The advertised wifi doesn't reach the campsites though so don't depend on it and when I connected at laundry to test it was like a 1/1Mbps speed. Cell Data signal isn't great here either. I have a dual LTE router that I was only getting ATT 3G signal with normal antennas but once I connected the exterior antenna I had been waiting to install I got 4 bars ATT LTE (105 dbM) so I can pull a ratty 30Mbps down and 15Mbps up. I also have a Visible sim but its kinda limits at 5Mbps on good signal but it has 5 bars Version LTE, so actual verizion customers may get better signal.

Great overnight stay

Very nice facilities. We were just here for an overnight between Virginia Beach and New Orleans. Had spot C1, which is directly across from the restrooms/showers. Partial shade, nice little deck. Convenient water and electricity hookups, good WiFi. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Tent spots on the lake!

We only stayed one night, but will return to take advantage of the prime lake front tent spots! On the map it shows individual sites, but it’s more of a disbursed area. You can see in my pics how close you are to the water, you could easily launch a kayak, swim, fish, etc. and the frogs and crickets sing so loud at night! It’s wonderful! However, in the morning there’s some road noise, we stayed on a weeknight, so weekends could be better, but I’m not sure. There is a portable restroom in the tent area, it was extremely clean, I didn’t go in the bathhouse. The rest of the campground is rv sites and is heavily wooded, so there’s lots of shade and privacy despite being close together. They also have a nice pool! The campground is very close to downtown knoxville too. We really enjoyed it and would recommend.

Great fishing hole for tent campers

If you are wanting to fish the bank or even put in kayaks this spot is money. The tent sights are located right on a great fishing cove on Fort Loudon reserve. We booked tent site 7 but when we got there someone was fishing off the point where our campsite was supposed to be. We just took the spot next to it and didn't bother. They ended up leaving late and we had what is somewhat like our own private island that night. The peacefulness of that evening was far from the same in the morning. The tent spots towards the point are apparently very close to the hwy and morning commute traffic was pretty loud. It is probably not near as loud on the weekends but we stayed Sun night so heard Mon morning commute traffic.

One night stay

We had a great pull thru spot (D2) for our one night stay. We stayed one night as a halfway point on the way up and then again on the way back. It seems they have a lot to offer, though we just used the area as a place to sleep. Very friendly staff. Gave 4 stars because the cable didn't seem to work at our site. We didn't stay long enough to try to figure out how to work it.
