Very Clean and close to town

Overall it was a pleasant no frills heavy on the rules stay. The resort is the cleanest property we have ever stayed at. The restrooms/shower facilities (free)are beyond first class. If you are looking for a fire pit- look elsewhere. If you are looking for quiet- look elsewhere. The train traffic is constant and loud. If you are looking for quite don't camp here on Monday. Landscapers are here from 8(more like 730) to 5. World longest blow and go. Very difficult to hold a conversation at your site and it is even worse when the train passes. The office staff was pleasant but distant boarding on unfriendly. The town of Lake City was deep in history with several cool shops and restaurants.

    Popular with the locals.

We made our way here just before Hurricane Milton hit Florida and stayed a week right next to the river. Very busy during the day with local fishermen. There's a lot of garage spread out, we cleaned up our area the best we could. Close to a busy highway but it didn't bother us. The river is gorgeous and we spent a good amount of our time here kayaking.

    Great, except for the TRAINS!

The.grounds are immaculate, the showers and laundry (Free) are well maintained and the dog park has a water fountain for the dogs. It's within walking distance to the various  restaurants in town .

A great park...except for the trains.  The rails are within one block of the campground and the trains run frequently, day and night and are use their horns A LOT.

If you are a sound sleeper and have a really loud AC in your rig, enjoy the place, otherwise, make it a short stay.

    Disappointing and dirty

It is insanely packed so in a tent, you have no privacy at all. It’s also very loud and bright during the night cause of all the lights for example at the restaurant. The showers were a disgrace and need to be renovated and they booked my tent at a RV side so I paid over 70$ for one night. You don’t feel like you are at a campground but in the middle of a city.

    Clean, fam-friendly, resort camping

Barefoot RV Resort was so CLEAN! Like I mean immaculate. Has 2 pools (one for kids with a slide & lazy river and one more for adults/quieter activities). The pools are in opposite corners of the resort. Bathhouses were new and very clean- water pressure great. Our site was very well kept, easy to use with a grass patch, cement pad & paver fire pit. You are quite close to all your neighbors here, but that's to be expected in Myrtle Beach. Rent a golf cart from Salty's- they deliver it right to your campsite. This was a must have as we used it to get to the beach, shopping/bars in Barefoot Landing, food store and more. Staff were welcoming, informative, accessible & friendly. We would absolutely come back!

    Awesome waterpark!! Very crowded...

The RV spaces really have no shade or trees, so if you like the sun and to be directly off the beach, this place is for you. They have alot of amenities to offer, including a waterpark with multiple pools, watersides, lazy river, kids' play area, mini golf. They have alot going on here for families. The beach has basketball courts, playgrounds, and you can rent golfcarts. It's a very busy with alot of people driving all around. The beach water was so clean and warm. You can also rent trailers or huge beach houses who share the same pool. The area has so much to do, including pirates adventure, Broadway on the beach, and the hangout with the foam party.

    Secluded Gem

This was a nice spot with flat, river front dispersed sites for tents or boondocking. It was easy to discern the campsites and had an open parking lot. There were a few sites that are not safe to drive to because of very loose sand. It is safer to park and explore on foot before driving up to those sites.

    Easy Camping on th Coast

We absolutely love visiting Lakewood resort. We just finished our third trip and it’s a family favorite and has become a non-negotiable for our kids. The waterpark is fun to break up some of the sun and surf indulging. The food is delicious on site when you don’t feel like grilling or cooking up some camp food. Our favorite is stopping at beach bum coffee and walking in the morning while most other campers are still sleeping. It’s serene and so calm. You can hear the waves crashing and the sights are breathtaking.

Great campground if in town for a reason, not a camping destination.

Stayed for a week during ArtFields Competition. There is nothing about the campground that needs changed. Full hook-up, great wifi, clean like new bathrooms and free laundry. Trash is picked up every morning at the site. Gated grounds that is well maintained. There are some long term residents but everyone is quiet and polite. The train is quite loud, and the town is small and doesn't have a lot to do so it's the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. If your in town for a reason,  then it's the perfect place...but just not a camping destination.

We as a family have been going to Ocean Lakes since 1998. We fell in love with the experience and as a new couple, we knew that if we could incorporate this type of vacation with our future children, they would appreciate it and enjoy it as much as we have. Our eldest child will be joining us on our trip in October in his camper. We can’t wait to come back!!!

Aging park with good and bad

Park is pretty overall but badly aging. Renovated bathrooms are marginal with tons of maintenance issues and not terribly clean. For instance hot water is a challenge and many broken latches on showers and toilet stalls left you exposed. We had one of the ancient spots with shared power pole that we had to use converter to use the remaining 50amp (we only needed 30). Feel sorry if you were a class A rig and needed the 50 and only had 40 left. Site was large but horrible cable connection, and could not use sewer connection as our “stuff” dies not flow uphill. Avoid the back in regular spots. Pay more for newer albeit very clean together patio spots. And sadly a rustic spot like ours was $87/night. The good is you are in walking distance of Myrtle beach, shops, and restaurants. But we were very disappointed in the area either 1-3 star hotels, lousy food, and cheap trinket shops. Beach is ok but there are much better in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Like this KOA, maintenance is not a priority for the town or merchants as commercial properties were run down, littered, and many were out of business. Our advice is go someplace else. This area is sad.

    Nice location

Nice location to beach. We were 3 spots away from beach access. Lots to do. There is a Walmart neighborhood market across the street. It takes about 25 mins to get to Broadway on the Beach so the downside was driving distance to things outside of the Campground. However there is plenty to keep people busy at the camp. Spots are tight and we needed neighbors to move their cars and things to get out. Due to limited room, people park in front of campers so the cars are sticking out a little. They did have issues with WiFi but we had our own so it was not an issue for us.

busy and tight but did the job

The first thing is that the sites were SUPER close together which kinda ruined the “camping vibes” if that makes sense because of how packed it was. I will say the site I stayed at was pushed back in a corner so that was nice. Over all it was a really nice stay + the water was really warm and enjoyable to swim in and there was a lot to do in Myrtle which also made it really fun.
