The nearest full grocery stores are typically found in Meadville or Erie, approximately 20-30 minutes from most cabin locations, making advance shopping advisable for extended stays.

      unmaintenanced

the lake is beautiful  and the park is clean but the cabins or the one I was in needed maintenance badly.front porch was soft and spongy .the screened in porch had huge holes in the screens and a huge gap in the floor .the picnic table and fire pit were leaning  badly. the bedroom had a hole in the wall which should  have been a easy fix if anyone  cared. the boat rental was nice

      Goddard Park Vacationland Campground

      Unhappy camper - again

I told my wife that this was the rotten place that we stayed at before. She insisted that was somewhere else but there we were, all the people complaining about the nasty manager lady as we are swimming by AND the creepy, chubby manager dude with the grey goatee, ogling the little girls a little too long. Why are those people still there?? All she does is sit outside the office and smoke cigarettes and he creeps around. Everyone hates them and will smile to their faces but they're horrible!

Pros: paved roads, mostly clean bathrooms and two swimming pools. Cons: Teeny, tiny sites. Bingo hall bathrooms are gross. Awful, rotten egg smelling water. The beds in the cabin rentals are rock hard. Horrible WiFi. Good luck if you’re there and the electric cuts out. Very few activities (which you will also hear about"there used to be so many activities" "Lisa never has any activities any more") Good grief, the people are unhappy but I guess, too cheap to move on to a better place? The entire staff complains about them constantly, especially Rhonda in the office. I just came in to buy ice, lady, I don't need to hear about much you hate your boss!

I would suggest you keep looking rather than tolerate this toxic place and all the unhappy seasonal people and employees. Save your money and vacation time for a nice place with decent management.

Jamestown Campground — Pymatuning State Park

great spot for direct kayak/canoe put in.

We stayed in site 218. this spot is in the smaller ( less crowded) part of Jamestown campground in Pymatuning SP. it is right on the water and has an easy access area for shore fishing and entering a kayak or canoe or some other water device. the site sits on a little bay and the otherside (more crowded) of the campground is across the water. the water is a little murky/ grassy but still good entry area. the campsite was spacious for a pa state park. the site is between the lake and the road. sites 212-222 look to be on the water with boat access, but 218 has the easiest entry. 220’s picnic Bench and fire pit sit next to the water with great views, but there is little shade. 218 had a great shady spot were you can hang 3 hammocks. there is no electricity at these sites and pretty much tent only. lots of tent space. the fire ring was decent but we moved it as it was right underneath a burnt tree. 218 was ADA accessible with a nice picnic table. restrooms were fairly close. clean... outdated, but clean.

Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake

It's Easy to Love this Campground

As newbies to all things RV, we needed a place in Ohio to break in our new travel trailer. Indian Creek is family and pet friendly with all the amenities and even a great lookout spot across the street where you can take in a Lake Erie sunset. We loved the clean bathrooms and appreciated the staff's effort to maintain services while encouraging social distancing. All of their COVID-19 policies were well spelled out online and in signage across the resort so that you knew what to expect. All of the staff wore masks and bathrooms were cleaned often. Some of their usual events and programs were unavailable but they offered craft kits for children to pick up and do at their own campsite in lieu of the usual program. We enjoyed their beautiful put-put course and ice cream stand. They did not allow outside visitors in the resort. The only thing that threw us off was that the bathhouses were closed at night and we didn't know that until we tried to use them. The resort is expanding and adding new sites. They are planting lots of trees (it looked like one at each site) so the resort should become more park-like and less parking lot as they grow. We really liked the back-in sites with water and electric hookups because they were larger and more private and wooded. The fire ring was so easy to cook on that now I'm spoiled! The camp store/gas station was convenient and well stocked with camping supplies. Golf carts are available to rent if you need them to navigate this huge park. We rode our bikes instead. There is a township park just down the road towards Geneva-on-the-Lake proper that we used to spend some leisure and exercise time near the lake. We look forward to visiting this RV resort again in the future!

Jamestown Campground — Pymatuning State Park

      Another trip to Jamestown Campground

My family has visited Pymatuning park many times now and try have used a variety of spots at Jamestown campground. It is large, offering multiple options for campsite types. It’s a standard PA state park campground offering bathrooms (bathrooms are older, but are being renovated July-August 2021) showers, fire ring, picnic table, etc. Campsites J-106 thru J-116 are well shaded, but are alongside route 322 which maintains consistent traffic at all hours. If the noise is not an issue, this run of tent sites are well spaced, and offer easy access to the facilities. To be away from the road (and nearer to the lake) sites J-120 thru J-128 are closer together but can be quieter (depending on your neighbors…)

The beach area is clean, and raked often. It has a playground and volleyball court. On Friday’s they have a family movie night at the amphitheater. Most Saturdays in the summer they offer crafts and activities for kids at the beach.

The surrounding area also has plenty of activities to offer: Local restaurants, ice cream, hiking, kayaking/boating, fishing, etc.

      Pymatuning State Park Campground

      Tent camping

This is a large campground with mostly RV sites. The tent area was relatively small with little space or privacy between sites, and a picnic table and fire pit at each. Most sites were pretty sloped. No real hiking trails here unfortunately, its mostly a fishing/boating park

Virginia's Beach Lakefront Cabins and Camping

      Beautiful campground on Lake Erie

Several shaded, grassy RV campsites face the lake.  There are cabins to rent that are right near the lake.  It's a mix of short-term and long-term/permanent rentals.

A large grassy area for children to play on.  There is a small fishing pond near the office.  A rocky beach and boat dock w/launch ramp.  A fire ring for nighttime bonfires.  Owners are friendly and accommodating.

I've stayed there the past two years, am going back this year, and will be going back as long as I'm able to travel from California to Pennsylvania.  Sunsets over the lake rival those over the Pacific Ocean.  I love the place!

      Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

      Great State Park Campground

We just got back from our first trip to Mosquito Lake State Park Campground. All in all, it was a great experience.

We stayed in site 67, which is a waterfront site, with electric. The water is about 25 yards from the pad, but is visible from the entire site. The site was spacious, but not as private as some of the others. There is some woods between this site and the sites on either side, but other sites are visible. The fire pits and picnic tables were staggered, so it created some distance to make it feel more private.

The campground as a whole, was very quiet. We stayed from Wednesday to Friday. The group next to us seemed a little rowdy when we first pulled in, but by 10:00 there was no noise anywhere near us.

Most sites seemed pretty level from side to side, but where we were, several had a slope from front to back. Away from the waterfront, most sites looked pretty level. The amount of space between sites varied from site to site. Some sites had woods on both sides, while others were pretty open. Some had nice large grassy areas, others were much smaller. Sites from 214-224 are in a cul de sac and are water front, but they were pretty close together with very little privacy between sites, if any. They are very close to the water though.

There are bathrooms and water scatter about, but from what I saw there was only 1 shower house.

Wal-mart and other shopping and restaurants were about 3 miles away. Park was easy to get to, only one turn for us off the highway. Lake was great for kayaking and paddleboarding. Very nice dog park in a different part of the park. There is a boat launch accessible from inside the campground.

Dump station has 2 lanes which was nice when checking out. Fresh water fill up was also located near the dump station.

Linesville Campground — Pymatuning State Park

Great Park, Close to the Water!

The Linesville Campground is a mid-sized state park campground with level, wooded sites, right on the Pymantuning Lake. A short walk to the marina which hires boats and sells snacks& fuel. There is a campground fish cleaning station with complimentary fridges/freezers.

The amenities are well kept with plenty of space, located in the center of the park. There is also a laundry. They accommodate tents, RV’s and have cabins also. RV dump station and water fill up conveniently located in the center of the grounds.

The township of Linesville is just 5min drive from the park entrance. Great weekend escape from Pittsburgh. They welcome furry friends!

    Guide to Cambridge Springs

Cabin rentals near Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania offer varied accommodations throughout the year, with many facilities open from April through October. The region sits in northwestern Pennsylvania's lake country at approximately 1,230 feet elevation. Winter stays require careful planning as temperatures often drop below freezing from November through March, though several locations provide heated cabin options for off-season camping.

    What to do

Lake activities at Pymatuning State Park: Both Linesville and Jamestown campgrounds provide direct access to Pymatuning Lake. According to one visitor at Linesville Campground, "Always look forward to a long weekend of fishing and kayaking. Showers, restrooms and fish cleaning station are always clean." The park features a complimentary fish cleaning station with refrigerators and freezers.

Disc golf at Oil Creek: The 27-hole disc golf course at Oil Creek Family Campground offers a challenging course through wooded terrain. A recent visitor noted, "My favorite was the disc golf. Their course is really nice!" The course was recently expanded from 18 holes and winds through the woods surrounding the property.

Fishing opportunities: Multiple locations offer fishing access, with Erie KOA featuring a stocked pond. One camper shared, "The kids enjoyed fishing in the pond and were able to catch a large small mouth bass and lots of blue gills." For trout fishing, Two Mile Run County Park provides alternative options with one reviewer noting it has "lots of things to do like fishing, hiking trails, canoeing kayaking."

    What campers like

Heated cabin options: Several campgrounds provide year-round cabin stays with heating systems. At Presque Isle Passage RV Park, campers appreciate the rental variety with one noting, "Room for big rigs, and tents. Yurts and cabins available." The campground offers heated accommodations throughout the winter months.

Swimming amenities: Many cabin locations include swimming facilities. One visitor at Sparrow Pond Family Campground mentioned, "Clean and well-maintained property with lots of activities" and highlighted that "The bathrooms and showers are very clean." The property maintains a heated pool among its amenities.

Quiet waterfront sites: Cabins at Two Mile Run County Park provide secluded options, with a reviewer noting, "Couple beautiful walk in tent sites right on the water. Plenty of nice hiking trails. Great beach for kids." Sites here tend to have more natural separation with trees and foliage creating privacy between units.

    What you should know

Varying site quality: Cabin sites differ significantly in layout and level ground. At Presque Isle Passage, one camper reported, "Sites are not level and are close to each other. They do have a pool but that's it." Always check site specifications before booking.

Limited connectivity: Cell service and internet access vary widely between locations. One camper at Two Mile Run County Park noted "good signal for Verizon," but connectivity remains inconsistent across most rural cabin sites in the region.

Seasonal variations: Weather impacts cabin camping significantly. A Jamestown Campground camper warned, "Mosquitoes were thick at our camping site so go prepared if you're in the woods on the inlet side." Spring and summer require insect preparation, while fall offers fewer pests but cooler temperatures.

    Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Erie KOA offers numerous family activities. A visitor shared: "Fun little campground with friendly staff and wide open spaces. Clean bathrooms, great pool, fun little game room. The playground got 2 thumbs up from a 4 and 6 year old. There was a movie night every night."

Beach access importance: Several parks provide beach swimming areas that work well for children. At Jamestown Campground, families can "enjoy Jamestown beach and playground" though one visitor noted "the bathrooms could use some updating but they were adequate."

Entertainment options: Look for campgrounds with scheduled activities. Uncle Johns Elk Creek Campground offers different experiences based on the season, with one visitor reporting: "I stayed in what they called the train car. I only recommend that for a group of guys only there for the world class fishing."

    Tips from RVers

Site selection considerations: When booking cabin stays, examine site layouts carefully. At Virginia's Beach Campground, one RVer noted: "Beautiful setting with great views of the lake. What a gem. Our only complaint is we had extremely low water pressure so we filled our tank and used our pump."

Facility age variations: Bathroom and shower facilities vary widely in age and condition. At Erie KOA, a reviewer highlighted: "Showers were excellent and very clean. The park was very well maintained. The sites are not level and are very crowded. It is good for an overnight stop."

Advance planning required: Peak season requires early bookings, especially for holiday weekends. Most cabins near Cambridge Springs book 3-6 months in advance for summer holidays, with greater availability during weekdays and off-season periods.
