Great place to bring your family.

Bathrooms were close, also water between every two camp sites. Showers were pretty nice. The lake is absolutely amazing! Really was worth money. It also wasn’t to expensive at all.

    Boxcar Hill Campground

    terrible camp hosts

it was supposed to be a vacation but could have been better after driving 9 hours to be received by the rudest camp hosts and then harrassed daily with mass texts of threats of being charged for extra car parking, too many cars parked, no parking by the bathroom, be sure to put the garbage in the right bin, check out time, don't share your gate code, gate code expiring so be out on time and it went on and on.  They will not work with you to move your site close to your group or try to keep you together, they just don't care, it is worse than self checkout at grocery store, they want to do no work and will just monitor their prescious gate to ensure that everyone uses it and it closes in between trailers, will never return and you shoudl find somewhere else to spend your time.

    On the Lake

    Dry Camping
Upside - Right on the lake and lots of spots with shade which would be good for summer heat.
Downside - no alcohol permitted (loosely enforced it seems).  And the restrooms and dump station are being rebuilt as of May 2024 and it will likely take a year or more. There are porta-potties. You are allowed to dump at the facility up the road for no cost.

Wonderful quiet spot in the woods

We loved the tent/trailer camp spot on Carly’s property. It was quiet and peaceful and we were able to disconnect and relax for a couple of days. There’s a nice hiking trail down to a pond with cute signage to lead the way.

The composting toilet had a stack of dried firewood from the property beside it and also some cute tables and chairs by the fire ring made from local trees.

All in all a wonderful place just outside of Cottage Grove. We will definitely be back next year!

    Great gateway to the Coast

Great location off the 5 and 42 if you're looking to get to the coast. Also right outside the city of Roseburg. They have a 6 hole 3 par golf course. The course and grounds are kept with fountains and beautiful flowers. Lots of sites with full hookups including sewer. Back in and pull through sites available. Miles of walking trails and a river for tubing or fishing off the docks. Showers and bathrooms available. Women's restroom and laundry room are under construction until October 2023. No laundry room and the park is very dark at night when other RV's aren't around, are the only reasons I didn't give 5 stars. Otherwise the owners are a delight and the full time residents are friendly. Make sure you bring cash, they don't take cards. Which wasn't a big deal, they also gave us a discount for the week. This is a nice family run park and it will definitely go on our 'save for next summer' list.

    Very peaceful!

The man at the front desk was so helpful. Offered to change my site reservation so I got the best site free of charge. Camp is close to the interstate but still quiet. Bathrooms are nice and clean, spot to wash your dishes, wifi is pretty good! Evey site has water and power access. Also has a pool.

    Abbott Creek Campground

    Widely separated site

I visited this campground on July 3, 2023.  The gate was locked and a notice that it was closed.  However, I walked through the site to gather information for any possible future visit.

It was one of the most beautiful campgrounds of the five I visited between Prospect and Union Gap.  Idyllic widely separated sites with lots of trees and beautiful grasses.  The last of the 25 sites were actually in a meadow.

There was no water available that I could see.  The stream was a short distance and I suppose if you had water treatment you could get water there.  They did have grey water disposal sites.  I saw a pit  and vault latrine.  They were locked, but looked recently painted.  There were also a couple big, green, plastic dump bins.  I did not see any mosquitoes.

There is no electricity and I did not get any cell signal using Verizon.  The sites were flat and some pretty large for longer trailers.  It was all gravel.

It was a little confusing to get there.  The sign on Highway 62 pointed down a road.  After crossing a bridge, I hit a T intersection, but there was not sign.  Turn right and you will cross another bridge and then see the campground entrance.

One should call ahead to the Forest Service office in Prospect to see if it becomes open for use.

Beautiful but beware the poison oak

    $10/night.

We drove in and heard the sound of screaming rafters. The location is gorgeous right next to the water. There is a bit of higheay noise but it is mostly drowned out by the river.

Two pit toilets, the male toilet is missing the lid. There is garbage service.

Each of the sites had a fire ring and a picnic table.

The paths down to the water have some poison oak growing by them so be careful. We did not have cell service so download offline maps before you get here.

William M. Tugman State Park Campground

A Loop is where it’s at!

We stay at Tugman often because it’s a great Oregon State Campground and is conveniently located off Hwy 101 and close to a lot of outdoor activities the southern coast of Oregon has to offer.

The park is clean, the rangers are super friendly as are the camp hosts in this loop. This park particularly seems to draw a great crowd of campers; very diversified - every type of camping here from Coaches and trailers to Yurt renters and tent enthusiast.

This trip we stayed in site A36. Long back in site and we had problem backing our 32’ trailer into. The site is pretty level and has good coverage / privacy from the campground road and the two sites that boarder it. There’s a decent size area in the back of the site that could fit several tents (maybe a medium and small tent?). The only con it’s situated closer to Hwy 101 and there is significant road noise during peak travel times. Overall - we’d stay on this site again.

    Susan Creek Campground

So happy this campground re-opened after fire damage

General: 30-site BLM campground on the North Umpqua River. No hookups.

Site Quality: All sites are level and paved. An extra-large picnic table, bbq, and fire pit complete the site. You will likely hear the river from all sites but the best sites back up to the river (3-7; 22-30) and sites 4-7 have a view of the river. The sites on the other side of the loop have, while functional, evidence of the wildfires that closed this campground for a while.

Bathhouse: Brand spanking new in 2022! Five individual shower stalls, and one handicap toilet/sink room in addition to the men’s and women’s bathrooms. The bathrooms had signs indicating they were not currently cleaned up to the Oregon Health Authority, but I thought they were very clean!

Activities: You can hike the Emerald Trail to the Day Use area which accesses a trail to Susan Creek Falls. Roundtrip from the campground is just short of three miles. Be aware of poison oak all along the trail! In addition, we were warned to be cautious of burned trees/branches/debris falling on us, particularly if it is windy. This was not a problem when we hiked but we were glad to be aware. The North Umpqua Trail runs for miles in either direction from the campground.

We happened upon this campground by chance after dark four years ago; what has changed is that it is now reservation only. I love the peacefulness of this campground and falling asleep to the sound of the river; it is one of the few campgrounds we have visited that I loved returning to. So happy it re-opened after fire damage!

    Yurts!

This was a great campground nestled in the trees off the coast and nearby some towns for amenities. We stayed two nights in a yurt and used this as a base camp for some day hikes and town exploring. Beautiful. Cleanish bathrooms. Lots of mosquitos. Very damp. Lots of trees. Deer in the park. Lots of trails around the lake too.

Do yourself a favor and check out the Harbor Light restaurant two towns North and get their clam chowder and elk shepherds pie. To die for.

Nice spots in the late fall!

I couldn’t reserve but I could WalkIn according to the reservations site. The camp Host was very helpful. I got almost an entire leg of a loop all to myself. $26 includes water and electric. I’m sleeping in my car so I don’t need much. I can hear the road but it’s not annoying . Will quiet down later, I’m sure . I would stay again.

    Charming!

Small city owned park and campground beautifully run by long time, full time hosts! You can tell they take pride in their park. Very convenient just off of I-5. I can hear it slightly, but not at all offensive.
Good Verizon LTE service, full hook ups, long level pull-thru site. We felt we had enough “green space” in site 5. (Pretty lawn!) We will definitely use this rv park again!

    Great Stay

Plenty to do in the way of boating (kayaking), fishing and camping. The beach is close and the seaside towns are just a hope, skip and jump away.

The campground is well shaded and roomy for a state park. Privacy is pretty good as state parks go as well.

Showers and bathrooms were dated but kept clean. No complaints.

I had Verizon and had fair signal. (I was using my WeBoost, but probably could have gone without it.)

A note on Oregon State Parks and Veterans. All the other states could take lessons from Oregon. Their Special Access Pass is second to none. They will allow you to apply even if you are not an Oregon State resident. They only care that you served your country. THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.)

    Book early

This was a last-minute find. It was packed and every site was taken. We were able to book because someone just happened to cancel their trip. Bathrooms are clean, but the trash can pile up pretty high from people packing water jugs and cardboard that they should probably take home and put in the trash. Sites are surrounded by trees to give privacy and not feel like you are sharing a site with your neighbor. There is a good hiking trail by the park Swordfern trail. Lots of trees were down when we went from the previous storm. But they were actively clearing them out.
