We are located in the heart of City of Antelope, a rural (near) Ghost town that is rich in history and culture. This particular property is currently being cleaned up and revitalized. We would like to open it up to dry camping only at this time as we are already seeing a huge influx of cyclists in the area and they have no place to camp. This is dry camping only until the facilities are brought up to code. There is porta potty facilities a block over near the City of Antelope Community Center. We look forward to our first campers.

    Train lovers paradise

Nice campground. Clean, plenty of rv hookups.

Short, 5 minute walk to the river.

A train track runs throught the middle of the campground. Trains run every hour or so. VERY loud.

Tent spots were $8. Rv spots were $24.

    Gorge Base Camp RV Park

    Small but very nice

We stayed at the Base Camp for 2 nights and used it as a base for exploring the Mount Hood Fruit Loop area.  First, note that the name has changed to Gorge Base Camp RV Park.  It is right across the bridge from Hood River, Or (Note that this is a very NARROW bridge with a $2.00 toll).  The park is paved in asphalt, and each site has grass that is well maintained.  Some reviewers complain about the noise of the train tracks, but they didn't bother us.  The tracks are below the level of the park, and we quite like the train rumble.  The highway is at a higher elevation than the park, so that noise didn't particularly bother us either.  Perhaps it is just that our van is well sound insulated or we're not light sleepers!  The restrooms and shower were quite large and immaculate.  There is a gas and go next door within walking distance for incidental purchases.  A bit pricey, but the full hook ups were worth it to us on 100 degree days!

    Deschutes River State Recreation Area

Beautiful campground along the Deschutes River in the Columbia Gorge

We usually cross the Columbia River into Washington state at Biggs Junction, Oregon. We don’t want to stay at Maryhill State Park in Washington as we had stayed there before. We found this campground on our Benchmark Oregon Atlas.

There are separate areas for RVs who want full hookups and those who don’t plus tenters. We fall in the latter category. Actually, our area was quieter than the full hook up loop which was closer tomI84 and the train tracks.

We had clean vault toilets, potable water, picnic table and fire ring. There were camp hosts for each loop. They sold firewood and were very helpful. There was a garbage dumpster and several recycling bins. The sites were in a grassy area with heavenly scented locust trees. There were geese with their goslings. There were trails along the Deschutes River but our neighbor camper said she saw several large gopher snakes.

The only drawback was the goose poop. And, snakes on the trail.

We would stay here again. B49/$10

    Perfect for Overnight Stay

Friendly host who answers phone herself. Separate sections for short- and long-term guests. Level pull-through sites with gravel and well- kept grassy areas in between. Modern bath house and laundry area. Lots of potted flowers. Dog-walking area. Distant traffic noise from I-84. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

    Nice city park campground!

What a nice city park! Fourteen spaces with full hookups back up to a small creek and surround the city baseball diamond. It's $40 per night, and Maria was so friendly! Came out to greet us when we pulled in. Nice shady spot in the trees. Highly recommend! Don't be fooled by the Dufur RV Park. This is a separate place and much nicer!

    Turkey Hole

Beautiful area but can be busy!

We stayed here for two nights and snagged some nice waterfront spots, it was a nice area and relaxing. They have a toilet, no shower. The vault toilet is not super gross thankfully, but there are a couple potential long term campers here beware of that. If you stick close to the entrance side then you will have some good spots and not too many neighbors.

    Wheeler County Fairgrounds RV Park

    A Hidden Gem

Fossil is an awesome little town near the Clarno Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds. The Wheeler County Fairgrounds RV Park is super clean, with full hookups and decent size sites. There's a wonderful little trail right nearby the takes you up to the city water tank and 360 view of the town and area. Fossil also has the best grocery store in the area so stock up on fresh produce. Movie rentals too!!! Only downside is that there's no connectivity in town. No phone, no wifi, no cable, no nothing. Bring lots of books or have your iTunes downloads ready to go....or just enjoy the peace and quiet.

Beautiful park on the river. Spaces are close and full hook up is on available in the center of the park. Host is very present. We were in space 80 it was gravel but not level. This park is right next door to Maryhill State park which also offers camping options. WiFi was spotty.

    Tucker Park Campground

A gem in the Columbia River Gorge

Stumbled upon this place a few summers ago and have returned many times since. This is a perfect spot to post up for a few days with a book. It’s very quiet and the hosts are great! Super friendly and never any issues getting fire wood. Family/four-legged friendly.

Pretty big campground with 80+ sites. I usually try and snag oak site b/c it’s big and really private. Neighboring sites are also wonderful.

It’s first come first serve so I would get there early, especially in the heat of the summer. Open May-November I believe. Bring cash for payment.

Picnic tables, big fire pits with a little spot to cook if you don’t have a stove. RV hookups, water, garbage dump. Should have everything you need.

It’s close to Lost Lake if you’re looking for a day trip. Less than 20 minutes to downtown Hood River. About an hour or so from Portland.

If you like beer, check out Pfriem on your way out.

    Mineral Springs

Free campsite along the Klickitat RIver

Nice Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife campground with a dirt boat ramp, seems to serve mostly fishermen. Some sites are right next to the Klickitat River. Some have easy access for larger rigs and space for boat trailers. The campground is right next to SR 142, but it's not really a very busy highway. The Klickitat Trail for mountain biking and hiking is nearby.

We stayed for two nights mid-week in September. The river sites are in sight of each other but not too tightly packed. It did seem that some of those sites were occupied by some long-term residents, although you're not supposed to occupy spots for more than 14 days out of 30. One site ran their generator constantly, so we set up on the other side of the old Icehouse structure right next to the river, where the river noise covered up the generator noise. We had a quiet pleasant stay.

    Spring Drive RV Campground

Great place to get away from it all

Upside: I loved this place! It was beautiful and peaceful. If you want to get away, this is the place. It's got full hook-ups, although there was a boil your drinking water notice on each campsite when I visited. The sites are rustic but look like they are well cared for.

Downside: No cell service at all. Also could not get Starlink to work due to the very tall pines.

I will be back when I don't have to work all week!

Beautiful location, clean bathrooms and inexpensive

Stayed here for a night before an alignment job in Portland. Beautiful state park right on the Columbia River. Beautiful 180 degree views from our camp site of the river, river gorge. Song birds galore. You get traffic noise anywhere in the park and the closer you are to the river the closer you are to the train tracks. Didn’t bother us at all but I could see people not loving it. Very clean bathrooms, full hook up sites for $30 with a view. Can’t beat that.

    Maryhill State Park Campground

Wind and Trains, but full of amenities

If you don't mind the sound of trains every few hours, this is a great campsite.  Nestled by the Columbia River, each campsite has plenty of space and full hookups for RVs.  There is also a separate area just for tent campers, a group campsite, and a day-use area with a beach on the river.

Tough to get reservations during the summer, but it is open year-round, if you want to camp during other times of the year.  Being in the edge of the Columbia Gorge, it can get windy, so awnings are not always safe from damage.

Just below Mary Hill museum and Mary Hill Winery, and Stonehenge, a memorial for WWI.  Waving Tree Winery has a tasting room as you enter the park area, as well.  Great place to relax and enjoy some great wines.

Peach Beach RV Park on the Columbia

    Better sites elsewhere

In the lovely Maryhill valley is the Peach Beach RV park. I am not one usually for RV parks but this on was ok. It was well maintained and clean. The spots were very close together and little privacy was had. They claim to have a private beach but it seemed like a muddy inlet overflowing with mosquitoes.on the plus side it is right next to a wine tasting shop.

There are many great places along this stretch of highway. This might be one to pass up.

    Antelope RV Park and Campsites

    Awesome campground

Antelope is a strange and beautiful little place. Part ghost town, part living community, it is often a welcome oasis on the Oregon Outback cycling trail. The path north out of Prineville is a beautiful ascent-descent of the Ochoco Mountains, which is pretty exhausting. If weather is a factor (we arrived in cold, wet and punishing wind) Antelope is a much better place to camp than Shaniko which is 8 miles up on a plateau.

The RV Park is a work in progress. We arrived without a reservation and were given a very nice spot to camp behind an old diner. Some small a-frame cabins are available with more being built, and a few spots to park campers with sewer dump and 30 amp hookups.

Overall I give this campground an outstanding rating. Hospitable, well-equipped, well-situated… great spot.

Lots of shade. Enough space between sites. Easy back-ins and some pull-throughs. A lot of background noise bordering on white noise, so not bad. Spotless restrooms. Beautiful views of the river. Pleasant host greets you with a bag of a couple peaches from the fruit farm next door. Definitely a return RV Park.

Port of Arlington RV Park & Marina

    Nice small park.

We stayed at the Arlington RV Park and Marina in Arlington, Oregon in September 2021. This is a nice, small park that is directly beside the Columbia River on the Gorge. The sites are FHU and are level but a bit tight. We did get our fifth wheel in with careful maneuvering. Be forewarned that it is very windy here on the gorge and we would advise getting your leveling jacks down without using Legos so as to have extra firm footing. Also, be careful not to leave your awnings out unattended. They also have boondocking on the upper part of the lot directly on the river. It was much too windy and cool here for my liking so we stayed in the lower FHU sites. Very beautiful area here to walk and enjoy the river and city park. We would definitely stay here again. Rufus RV Park

    Well run and maintained

Arrived late and found an envelope with all my check in details posted in front of the office, including park map with highlighted route to my site. All of the facilities were clean and the ground were clear of litter and well maintained, which must be a challenge considering the lawns between the sites. Rufus itself is not a destination; we were in and out in one night, but we found the Rufus RV Park to be a peaceful and dog-friendly stopover.

    Spring Drive RV Campground

Small quiet Campground near Mt. Hood

We stayed for 7 nights in site # 6. It's a Recreation. gov site so with our National Park Pass we paid $114 and had full hook up. We had total privacy our site was big with tall trees that sway in the wind. It had a nice area you walked up a few steps to the picnic table & fire ring. We couldn't see any of our neighbors it was so quiet. There is NO cell service which is common when your out in the wilderness. At the end of the road driving out you can pick up service.

The water was broken a pipe broke up the mountain somewhere so when we arrived we didn't have water, but due to the emergency they came & filled our camper with water with the truck they fill camp hosts water with when they are camping in dry campsites.  They built a little tower that held big containers of water for anyone else coming in.

This area was nice we were close to Mt. Hood, Mt. Hood Winery & other Wineries, Frog lake, Timothy Lake, Trillum lake, and more. Great Taco shop next to the Visitor center in Government camp. You can also go past Mt. Hood to the Columbia river Gorge, the Cascade Locks bridge of the Gods  & the Bonneville Dam, big trout farm and Multnomah Falls. Close to the campground we explored down a road it was a creek. No one back there we stopped & my husband fished I relaxed.

We kayaked Fish Lake & Timothy lake Eagles at both lakes.

    Sherman County RV Park

    Unexpected Gem

I'm on a road trip of the John Day Fossil Bed Units. I stopped in Moro, OR for a couple of days to resupply before heading to Cottonwood Canyon State Park. This is another small town, fairgrounds campground, but it's awesome. Quiet, clean with a great open, off leash area for dogs and full hookups. At the time of the writing they also have an awesome host! There aren't many supply options in town so if you need major groceries, go to The Dalles, propane go to Wasco, gas go to Biggs or the Dalles.....you get the picture. Moro also has a must see museum.

We stayed in an 18 foot trailer. The sites are a little tight for ginormous 36 foot trailers with multiple slideouts. We fit just fine. This place is by the river with some shade trees. No highway noise but the train tracks are across the river. You may have to park your tow vehicle in the overflow lot across the street. There's rafting and fishing. The rv spots have power, water and sewer.
