Best RV Parks & Resorts near Depoe Bay, OR

RV parks along the Oregon coast near Depoe Bay provide ocean-view sites and forested options for travelers. Sea and Sand RV Park features oceanfront sites with full hookups for RVs on multiple tiers, with water, sewer, electric, and cable TV connections. Fogarty Creek RV Park offers water and sewer hookups but prohibits campfires. Premier RV Resort in Lincoln City contains 92 sites with concrete pads and both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service. Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort caters exclusively to RVs with big-rig friendly sites. Most parks have gravel or concrete pads with varying degrees of privacy between sites. "The site was gravel and almost level but sort of small in width and length but enough for our 21' trailer and pickup. The sites next to each side of us were very close about 3 feet apart."

Advanced reservations are essential during summer months when coastal parks fill quickly. Highway 101 provides primary access to all major RV parks in the area, though some parks have steep entry drives requiring careful navigation. Most facilities maintain clean restrooms and shower facilities, with several offering on-site laundry. Dump stations are available at Sea and Sand RV Park, Port of Newport RV Park & Marina, and Thousand Trails Whalers Rest. Cell service remains consistent throughout the coastal corridor. Winter camping is available at most parks, though Pacific storms can bring high winds and heavy rain. Many RV parks prohibit wood fires due to coastal conditions, allowing only propane fire pits in certain sections. Pet-friendly policies are standard at nearly all locations, typically with designated pet areas and waste stations.

Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park Campground

    Nice secluded campground

Stayed 4 nights. Clean bathrooms, good space between campsites. Nestled in the tall trees, it would be cool during a hot summer. Since I visited in November and it rained, the drops from the trees were loud on my trailer roof. (Well duh!) 1/2 mile walk to the beach. Clean, safe, and quietWell maintained campgrounds, as are all Oregon parks. Great reservation system. (California in comparison has a terrible website. What’s up CA?) 30 and 50 amp electric, water and sewer at the site (Full hookups). Great dump station across the highway. Back in spaces, so a 40 foot RV would barely fit. This is an older but well maintained campground.

Nice place to stay on the Oregon Coast

A great little campground settled along the coast near Florence, Oregon.

Get there early as reservations cannot be made and its all first come, first serve! It is extremely busy during peak season, so if your looking for a not so busy campground, this is not it.

Full hook ups available along with restrooms/ showers, fire wood for sale and there is a dump station on site. Picnic table and fire pit at every site. You are along HWY 101, but the trees do provide a little bit of a sound buffer. There is no playground at this campground, however they offer the Junior Ranger Program to occupy kiddos which is great! Trails nearby lead down to the beach and its 2 miles by trail to the Heceta Head Light House.

Overall this is a great family friendly little campground!

Visiting in the off season is a great option if you can't get a spot in peak season as it is open year round.

I would give this one the full 5 stars, but the inability to make reservations for this State Park is a huge con :/

    Premier RV Resort

    Good Base Camp

Our stay at the Lincoln City Premier RV Resort was good.  The space was clean and the utility hookups were well maintained and functional.  And, staff were very nice and accommodating.  We upgraded to a pull through and in hindsight should not have.  It was close to the road, and many of the trailers in the pull through section appeared to be long term occupants, at least a couple left early in the morning for work and returned in the afternoon.  The location although easy to get both north and south from because it is adjacent to the highway, was in a part of town that seemed a little economically depressed.  I would have rated it higher but for the price, I expected more.  UPDATE  We visited this park for a second time in 2023 and selected a back in site near the north east section of the park and loved it.  We are changing our rating to five stars.

    Premier RV Resort

    Nice CG, but small sites

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow. We were in site 57 for 4 days in mid September. Very friendly staff. The CG is clean, quiet and well maintained, but the sites are fairly short and narrow. As others have mentioned, tow vehicles usually extend into or are parked partially on the roads through the CG, but the roads are fairly wide throughout the CG. Also, our slides extended well past the concrete pad on both sides, leaving very little room to get around our RV. The sewer connections are not threaded, so you’ll have to weigh down your sewer hose. There is a fair bit of road noise from the highway. There is a nice open area, off leash pen and network of short trails for walking your dog. AT&T coverage was fair, ranging from 2-4 bars of 5G with speeds up to 19 MB/s. The CG WiFi speed varied considerably, from next to useless up to 1 MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were 11 OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

Port of Newport RV Park & Marina

    Pricey for parking lot camping!

This place offers a regular RV park for something around $80/night, or dry camping for about $40/night. The dry camping area is literally a parking lot, but you have a nice view of the marina and also it’s really nice to be this close to town so we stayed here for a night. You’re sharing a parking lot with Rogue brewery and distillery, which is very cool. You’re also walking distance to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, also very cool. The town of Newport is cute and fun and there are many interesting and cool shops to browse, and many of them are dog friendly.

We didn’t use any of the amenities here, but we were told there is wifi and showers. There were dumpsters (no recycling), and a free dump station for campers. There was non-potable water at the dump station, but I am sure they would also let you fill your tanks with potable water.

Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park Campground

    This Place Has Everything

This campground is so nice and well kept, each site is pretty private and the whole area is just beautiful.  Some sites have a bit of sun but most are in the shade.  Some of the sites were tight and we had to back in to the site very creatively and carefully in our 26ft class c.  I'd imagine some of the huge 5th wheels would have trouble managing in some of the sites.

Oregon State Parks now charge a 25% surcharge for RV spots (not tent sites) for non-Oregonions.  Sites are reservable on oregonstateparks.reserveamerica.com.  Those without reservations can take empty sites for one night at a time.

Some sites are electric and water only, and some are FHU for $3 more.  There are also hiker/biker sites at $8, and yurts (one is pet friendly for $10 more).

Free dump station and potable water across the hwy at the day use area.

They have recycling here, and they take glass, aluminum, tin, and paper, and empty propane bottles, but not plastic.

They have free showers and firewood for sale.

Zero cell service here with our Verizon and ATT phones.

    Seal Rocks RV Cove

    It's All About the View

This was our second time here, and we enjoyed the first so much we decided to spend a month over Christmas to watch storms and hopefully see the whale migration. As Seal Rocks RV Cove is right off US-101, you take the second left at the sign if you are coming from the south. Per our instruction email, we headed straight to back-in site 18 with FHUs. Since we were going to be here a month, we fiddled more than normal to position our 40’ 5th wheel into position. Otherwise, this is a fairly easy back-in. Most of the positioning was to get more center on the gravel pad because there are tall hedges on both sides. This is a nice privacy feature in most sites. The water pressure was around 60 psi, so we used a reducer. Water and electric are more centered on the site. Site 18 has a great view of Seal Rock and the ocean. Another great feature of these sites is that the utilities are on both sides for back-ins like us, and Class As and Bs can pull in forward. We needed about 15’ of sewer hose with the back-in connection. The $45 nightly rate was based on an off-season monthly rate, and we did not have to pay extra for electricity. We had one bar on Verizon, which was usable for phone calls. We got a clear shot of the NW sky for Starlink. There wouldn’t be a problem for a southern shot as well. There’s a fire pit and picnic table at the back of the site. There’s a small fenced dog park and a beach trail path that leads out of the RV park to Hwy 101 to get to the beach trail. The park WiFi was pretty good, but there were not many campers here this time of year. The park managers are friendly and accommodating, and they enforce their rules. Two in particular were dogs on six-foot leashes and no LED lights at night. We were lax with our dogs because the park was empty, but they quickly reminded us of the rule. As you are right off US-101, there is road noise, but it quiets down at night. Seal Rocks RV Cove doesn’t have a laundry, but there’s one nearby in Waldport and two in Newport. There is so much to do and see in this area. We spent a month and still didn’t get everything done we wanted to do."

Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park Campground

    Decent place to stay.

Can't make reservations, it's first come first serve. Quiet. No or spotty cell service with at&t. SUPER close to beach, just a short hike on their trail. Rocky/hard sand beach. Pet friendly. Smaller campgrounds.

Guide to Depoe Bay

RV camping near Depoe Bay, Oregon offers oceanfront access within a short drive to attractions along Oregon's central coast. Temperatures along this stretch of Highway 101 range from 45-65°F year-round with higher rainfall from November through March. Cell service remains stronger in coastal campgrounds near towns but can weaken in more forested settings with some RVers reporting 1-3 bar coverage in locations like Seal Rocks.

What to do

Beach access routes: Seal Rocks RV Cove provides direct beach access across Highway 101 via a dedicated path. "Can't book online so you're required to reserve the old fashion way via telephone. Pre-covid they had camping spaces too, but have not reopened them as of summer 21. Clean bathrooms and showers (closed since covid). And did I mention the beach is across the street?"

Fishing and crabbing: At Port of Newport RV Park & Marina, campers can fish directly from the piers. "Lots of fishermen and areas to take a boat out." The marina location makes it easy to arrange chartered fishing trips or try crabbing from the public fishing pier.

Brewery tours: Located adjacent to Rogue Brewery headquarters, Port of Newport RV Park offers walking-distance brewery tours. "Great views of the bridge and the bay. Rogue brewery and distillery is a short walk from the park." Many campers recommend combining an afternoon brewery visit with sunset views of Yaquina Bay Bridge.

What campers like

Oceanfront sites: Sea and Sand RV Park features multi-level ocean view sites. "Depoe Bay OR. First row on the ocean. Sunset spectacular. Staff all seem like they love it here as much as we do! Dedicated staff person available to help you park in challenging spots, if you need help."

Clean facilities: Multiple RV parks maintain exceptionally clean facilities. Sea and Sand RV Park maintains "cleanest bathrooms I've even seen at a campground." Similarly, Thousand Trails Whalers Rest receives praise for cleanliness: "The showers were immaculate as was the campground."

Concrete pads: Premier RV Resort in Lincoln City offers concrete pads that stay level even in wet weather. "The sites were very clean and level. The staff were warm and welcoming, and offered little amenities such as Bagels/donuts and coffee on Sunday mornings in a prize gift at every check-in."

What you should know

Site spacing challenges: Many coastal parks feature tight site arrangements. Premier RV Resort has excellent amenities but "The sites are extremely close together, although the people that camped around us were all friendly, respectful of the spatial issues and quiet."

Reservation requirements: Book well in advance for summer. For Thousand Trails Whalers Rest, campers note: "Thousand Trails campground and well maintained. The campground is divided into a north and south side. We stayed on the south side with concrete pads that were nestled in between trees."

No-campfire policies: Several parks prohibit wood fires due to coastal wind conditions. Fogarty Creek RV Park prohibits campfires entirely, while Sea and Sand restricts fires to certain areas: "Park rules say the upper ocean site area could not have any wood fires and could only use propane fires with the exception of on the beach."

Tips for camping with families

Indoor pool access: Neskowin Creek RV Resort offers indoor swimming and family activities. "Its located within walking distance to the coast. Plenty of activities for the kids to play. Indoor swimming. They often do pot luck dinners."

Beach activities: Beaches near Depoe Bay are ideal for beachcombing at low tide. At Sea and Sand RV Park, "There was a path about half way down the park on the left side that went to the beach area access which we took and walked on the beach during low tide, but during high tide there is no beach access."

Wildlife viewing: Coyote Rock RV Resort offers wildlife watching opportunities for children. "It's right on the river and there are cute little otters that like to show off for the guests." Many children enjoy watching fishing boats return to marinas in the late afternoon.

Tips from RVers

Entry navigation: Several coastal parks have steep or tight entrances requiring careful driving. Premier RV Resort requires passing speed bumps: "Upon entry is a very nice view of the center of the park and a few speed bumps you have to really slow down for."

Parking logistics: Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort caters specifically to Class A motorhomes with concrete pads. "This RV park has a fantastic location oceanfront! The park itself has paved, concrete sites, each with a patch of grass. It is nearly all Class As and most sites look like they are lived at longer term."

Sewer connections: Some parks have unusual sewer connection requirements. At Sea and Sand RV Park, sewer connections "required a screw on sewer connection that in some sites were 25 plus feet from the rear of the site."

Weather considerations: Winter camping brings stormy conditions but fewer crowds. Verizon service works best with signal boosters: "We put up our WeBoost and got 2 to 3 bars but sometimes the 3G network wouldn't produce internet. Our best option for internet was when the CG's WiFi wasn't busy such as early morning."
