Winton Woods Campground in Hamilton County Park provides year-round RV accommodations with electric sites, gravel pads, and sewer connections for larger rigs. "Park was nice and very clean. Much larger than expected. I was a bit shocked to have 50 amp hookup, but no water," noted one camper about the East Fork State Park facilities. Cell service varies across campgrounds, with visitors reporting that T-Mobile coverage works well at Thousand Trails Wilmington when using signal boosters. Stonelick State Park operates seasonally from April through October, limiting late fall and winter options for RV travelers. A visitor commented that "Each spot had plenty of space for activities. Each plot also has its own concrete slab for your RV, so you don't have to worry about parking in the mud." Many campgrounds enforce strict generator policies, so checking individual park regulations before arrival is essential.

    Winton Woods Campground

Great county park in a beautiful setting!

This is a great county park! It has a nice “campground” feel set in a large pine trees and wide sites but has 50-amp full hook-up sites. The campground is set in Winton Woods County Park which is about 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

There are 123 campsites including RV sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Most RV sites are back-in but there are 12 pull-thru sites. There is a myriad of sites here from 50-amp full hook-up with paved pads and patios to 30-amp gravel sites. Sites have fire pits, picnic tables. Campsites in the front section (1F – 25F and 1R – 12R) are big rig-friendly with paved roads wide enough to easily maneuver. All utilities worked accordingly and were well-placed in the site. Our 4G Verizon phone got good reception and we were able to get plenty of antenna television channels. The online reservation system is easy to use and gives you an array of sites/cabins to choose from. Be aware that lots of people use this park on the weekends so it can get quiet busy.

There are lots of amenities at this park. Within walking distance of the campground is Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails. There is a camp store, dump station, laundry, restrooms/shower house, boat/kayak launch, and fishing access. Located in the park is a golf course and horseback riding center.

You are within a few miles of everything … grocery, gas/diesel, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The park is close to I-275 and I-75 making for easy access to major interstates. One place you should not miss is Jungle Jims international grocery and market. This totally eclectic, sprawling "grocery store" has so much to offer. They pride themselves on providing unique foods from all over the world. I could spend hours in this store perusing the isles of which are sectioned off into country and region. There are entire sections on Indian foods, wines, cheeses that you have never heard of, and tanks with live fish ready for the filleting. Also within close proximity is Greaters -one of the country's best ice cream shops (according to Food and Wine). Just down the street is a new person favorite sandwich shop called Izzy's which is famous for their corned beef and delicious potato pancakes.

Loved this park because you have a very nice campsite with 50-amp full hook-up site with lots to do in the area. Our site was level and the roads were easy to navigate in our motorhome. The paved trail around the lake was great for walking/jogging and perfect for launching our kayaks.

We would definitely stay here again.

    Beechwood Acres Camping Resort

    Small, But Great Family Spot!

This is a great place to take the kids. We go here every year. They have an in-ground pool, a small store for camping needs, firewood delivery and propane refills. Cell service here is awful and there is no WiFi. The antenna will pick up several local channels. There is a Dollar General about 10 mins away for grocery needs. They have several pull-through and full hookup options as well. Sites are somewhat level. This park has beautiful landscaping that is always meticulously maintained. They also host events and if you check their event calendar on their website, you can see what’s going on during your stay. We were fortunate enough to see the band Timestamp and loved it! They even had a community bonfire!

    Oak Creek Campground

    Easy place to stop

Nice campground with several pull through sites for big rigs. Pool and new dog park with a very nice play area for the kids. We prefer site 18 which offers nice privacy and os next to a stream.

Winton Woods Campground Hamilton County Park

    Surprising City Campground

Winton Woods Campground was a clean and quiet campground that we were pleasantly surprised to find. The campground fills up fast and there were plenty of shaded electric sites close to the lake. There were also plenty of pull through sites for the big rigs. However if you’re good at backing, there were a good many deeper sites that you could use. Close by is Bass Pro Shops so you could pickup anything you forgot. Only one shower house for the entire campground though.

    Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort

    Great Park

We decided to stay here last minute. Read the reviews and went for it. 45’ Prevost w/toad. Pull through we were assigned had very low hanging tree limbs. I called the office and asked if we could use space 41 instead. No problem! Everything is clean, well cared for, and really pretty. We did not use the showers, laundry, or pool. Cost was EXCELLENT for a pull through, full hookups, and 50 amp service. Yes, there are people staying full time, but each space is well taken care of with pride it seems.

    Hueston Woods State Park Campground

Nice but hard to get good sites on weekends !

Limited level campground with full and electric hookups (does have WiFi). Best areas are A (full hookups and B (electric hookups) with concrete pads, some with slight slopes. First sites #s on A side do have larger slopes! C through E are electric only but are hilly grass pads. Other areas are back in the woods with no WiFi connections and primitive bathrooms/ outhouses (no showers) But park has great recreational activities. Book early for weekends which are almost non existent during the summer for A and B areas! Also only one dump station in B area.

    Archway Campground

    Quaint Stop Over

Owner is a kind old man. Escorted us to our site and helped us pull in. 30 and 50 amp hook ups available. No sewer hookups but dump station onsite. Mostly pull through sites with lots of room between campers. Great location, right off I-70. Lowes, Walmart, Menards, and Dollar General very close by. Almost every restaurant or food type that you can think of close by. Fishing pond onsite that also allows swimming. Restrooms/showers very basic and dated. 5 stars for what it is. Not fancy, 5 stars for what it is. Family owned, no frills campground. Relaxing mom and pop campground with owners that go the extra mile to accommodate guests.

Mounds State Recreation Area Campground — Brookville Lake

    Nice but bathrooms need updated

The campground and area is nice. The campers are pretty much all about the water activities. The big lake is nice and long with multiple no wake areas. There are a couple of beach areas. The camp bathrooms are concrete block and pretty clean but old and need updates. Great shower pressure! The camp sites are pretty far apart at least twice as far as in private campgrounds and so have ample room even for our two good sized dogs. The sites are black topped but narrow and short. More problematic is that most have slopes. A few too steep to level a trailer. There were more tent campers than trailer campers when we were there. Oddly the roads were one way but all of the sites were at 90 degrees from the narrow road making it difficult to back in. I did not see any pull through sites. Almost all have 30 amp electric but saw no water or sewer hook ups. Maybe half of the sites had any shade. There were just a few trails and those were pretty overgrown in July. No animal problems even though they had open trash bins. All had iron fire pits but many were old. We had noise problems the first night even though security was supposed to patrol till 2:00 am. We saw three newer playgrounds although those were a little outside of the camping areas and without any shade or bathrooms. Plenty of bathhouses with a few pit toilets around.

Guide to Kings Mills

RV sites near Kings Mills, Ohio extend along the Little Miami River valley at elevations between 600-800 feet. Most campgrounds remain operational from April through October, with limited winter availability due to seasonal weather patterns. The region experiences four distinct seasons with summer highs averaging 86°F and winter lows around 22°F.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Caesar Creek State Park Campground offers multiple fishing spots throughout the park. "Our family camped for 3 nights at site 268 and 269. The sites are spacious with plenty of room for cornhole games. Had a good time at the beach and caught a few fish at a couple different fishing spots," reports one visitor.

Fossil hunting: Caesar Creek provides permits for fossil collection, making it a unique activity for campers. "We even got a permit to collect fossils. Great visitor centers too," notes one camper who called it "a hidden gem."

Trail exploration: Winton Woods Campground features multiple trails accessible from the camping area. A camper staying in June 2022 mentioned, "Great campground and park. Plenty to do. Hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, splash park, etc."

Water recreation: Several parks offer water activities during summer months. A Stonelick State Park visitor described it as an "awesome place to swim during daytime hours, just remember to use caution and don't go out of designated area."

What campers like

Spacious sites: Tucker's Landing receives consistent praise for site layout. "Each spot had plenty of space for activities. Each plot also has its own concrete slab for your RV, so you don't have to worry about parking in the mud," writes one reviewer.

Clean facilities: Stonelick State Park Campground maintains well-kept amenities. "Bath house is clean and modern. There is potable water in multiple sites and a double sided dump station. The staff and the host are very pleasant and helpful," noted a camper in April 2022.

Easy access to attractions: Proximity to Kings Island amusement park makes several campgrounds popular bases. A Thousand Trails Wilmington visitor commented, "The staff were friendly and the pool is heated! My family and I had a good time at Wilmington. It is close enough to Kings Island that we made a trip over."

Pool amenities: Multiple campgrounds offer swimming pools as alternatives to lake swimming. A Loop C camper at Thousand Trails noted, "This is a very quiet campground with spacious sites on Loop C. The pool is large and heated."

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most campgrounds close during winter months. Stonelick State Park operates from April 1 to October 31, while Thousand Trails Wilmington runs from April 17 to October 30.

Variable shade coverage: Thousand Trails Wilmington offers wooded sites in specific areas. "The campground consists of 3 loops - A mostly full hookup, B loop Water and Electric and C loop is a mix. If you like wooded areas check out C loop," explains a reviewer.

Connectivity considerations: Cell service varies by provider and location. A full-time RVer at Thousand Trails Wilmington reported, "I use Starlink and T-mobile 5G. The T-Mobile seems to be working best here. The cell booster I have made it go from 'good' to 'excellent'."

Site leveling challenges: Some campgrounds have uneven terrain. A Stonelick visitor in September 2025 noted, "We camped at site 35 and it was very slopey, our levelers only helped a little."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort provides recreational options for children. "Fun location just off the highway. Perfect for a family, has swimming pool, putt putt, and other child friendly activities... also has small fishing pond," shares one visitor.

Biking conditions: Consider campground terrain before planning bike activities. A Dayton KOA visitor cautioned, "Gravel roads aren't great for small kids learning to ride bikes but ok for older kids and adults."

Wildlife awareness: Secure food items from local wildlife. A Caesar Creek camper warned, "The raccoons stole our hot dog buns we had sitting on the picnic table for literally 5 minutes while we cooked our hot dogs."

Quieter weekdays: For families seeking less crowded experiences, consider midweek stays. A Caesar Creek camper observed, "It was a little too busy for my liking on Friday night, but Wednesday and Thursday we basically had the loop to ourselves!"

Tips from RVers

Concrete pad advantages: Tucker's Landing offers solid parking surfaces. "Overall this RV park is one of the nicest I've been to. Each plot also has its own concrete slab for your RV, so you don't have to worry about parking in the mud," reports a reviewer.

Premium site availability: Dayton KOA Holiday offers pull-through options with full connections. A visitor in May 2025 noted, "Excellent rural setting. One of the nicer KOAs. Great staff and facilities. Mostly level sites. Grass, trees, and a pond all very well maintained."

Water quality considerations: Beach areas at some parks may have less than ideal conditions. A Caesar Creek visitor in June 2025 reported, "Even though camp ground seems to have beach. Its beach area is just mud and murky water."

Reservation timing: Book well in advance for weekend stays, especially during summer months. One visitor to Caesar Creek noted, "It was a little too busy for my liking on Friday night, but Wednesday and Thursday we basically had the loop to ourselves!"
