    Hocking River RV Park

Scenic, easy in/out and on the river

Stayed here 4 nights, pull through spots require a little bit of maneuvering with big rig (43’ fifth wheel). There was some mud where camper wheels were situated in the spot (needs material). Fire rings are not near RV but behind across the road on the river. Bath house is just ok - not great, not gross. Close proximity to lots of hiking but Hocking Hills itself has become so crowded… don’t come if you want to get away from people.

    Greenbo Lake State Resort Park

    It’s pretty nice

A lot of their sites have full hook up but not all of them. Read the details of the sites when booking. Some of the sites have really steep grades and aren’t big rig friendly.

Check in was a breeze had out car tags on our post.

They do have a full-time camp host on site.

I didn’t use the shower 🚿 house but they do have a couple on the grounds.

They have a putt putt course but bring your own putter and ball.

There is Verizon service but it’s spotty.

They do have WiFi but it’s very slow and not secure.

Place is very pet friendly. The people we have met here are great.

Sites are wide but really close together.

    Hocking Hills KOA Holiday

    Great first time KOA experience

We have never stayed at a KOA before and were very happy with this campground. The staff were friendly and professional, the sites were clean, and there were a wide variety of sites to choose from. From primitive tent sites tucked back in the woods to large RV sites with water/sewer/electric/cable hookups. We are first-time owners of a 29 ft Fifth Wheel and got a pull-through site. It offered little in the way of privacy, which was the only negative about the whole experience. Our site included a fire ring and a picnic table, along with all the hook ups. The night we arrived we were too tired to cook so ordered a pizza from the front office and they delivered it to our site. They also deliver wood directly to you. They escort you directly to your site so you don't get lost or go down a one-way road the wrong way. There was a nice little pool, but it wasn't open for the season yet. The shower houses were immaculate. The front office includes a little gift shop, ice cream, and pizza. This campground was also located close (within a few miles) to all the main hiking trails, and about 12 miles from Logan. The little road going up to the campground is VERY bumpy. It's not the campground road, it belongs to the Township, so its completely out of their ability to make improvements. This was only our second time out in our fifth wheel camper so it was a little scary, but we just drove slow and our truck handled it just fine. We will definitely be back to this wonderful campground as we love Hocking Hills.

    Hocking Hills KOA Holiday

Awesome staff family owned for over 20 plus years. Extremely clean well maintained. Shower houses plenty of hot water facilities were very clean sites are well spread apart. Handicap sites available including cabin rentals fire wood and menu items delivered to your campsite from camp kitchen and store. All the others were water and electric. “ cable and WiFi “ included 70 plus channels. 50 /30 /20 amp power at all sites. Big Rig friendly. Close to all sites. Hocking Hills State Park Campground

    Great Ohio State Park Campground

Amazing trails walkable right from the campground. Old mans cave, upper & lower falls. Bathroom was clean. Showers were ok. My site 108 was not deep, but was wide. Great for my 5X9 travel trailer, but probably not good for a big rig. Shaded & right near the shower house was a plus.

    Big Sycamore Family Campground

    Great small family campground

We enjoyed our 3 night stay here! Some sites are full hook up, some sites are electric and water, and some are primitive. The dump station is easily accessible if you need it. 5 acres with everything we could need. The owners were amazing. Very friendly and helpful! They had only owned the campground for 2 weeks and were in the process of making several improvements. The shower house and bathrooms were clean and adequate. There is a small playground for kids. It is pet friendly. There is a nice sized pool for summer (we camped in October so it was closed for the season). Located within a short drive (about 10 miles/15 minutes) from everything Hocking Hills has to offer. There is even a restaurant close by that will deliver to your campsite. Kroger and Walmart are within 5-7 minutes driving for supplies. The only downside is that it is close to a highway so at night you can hear the traffic. This didn’t bother us so much but might be a problem for some.

One-Night Adventure: Our Shakedown Trip in the New Travel Trailer

Campsite Review for Site 6 – Gateway to Wayne National Forest

Our recent camping trip at this campground was an excellent way to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of Wayne National Forest. The serene forest setting provided a perfect backdrop for a relaxing outdoor adventure, with the campground offering all the basics needed for a comfortable stay.

We stayed at Site 6 in our travel trailer, enjoying the ease of a pull-through site. Although the water and electric hookups are on the opposite side unless you drive through the loop the wrong way, this setup has an unexpected benefit—it faces directly toward the woods. This orientation allowed us to savor the tranquility of the forest, adding a layer of privacy and a more intimate connection with nature.

While the sites are decently sized, they are closely positioned with minimal separation, which might limit privacy in other areas. However, the majestic surroundings of Wayne National Forest more than make up for this. The proximity to hiking trails, wildlife sightings, and the peaceful ambiance of the trees create an immersive experience that’s hard to beat.

All in all, this campground is a fantastic base for exploring Wayne National Forest. The combination of basic amenities, convenient access, and the enchanting forest environment makes it a great spot for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

What to do

Fishing at the lake: The man-made lake at Oasis Point RV Resort & Adventure Lake offers catch-and-release fishing in several fishing huts. "There is a smaller pond for fishing, I'm pretty sure it's catch and release," notes one visitor.

Water recreation: Families can enjoy water activities at several campgrounds. "We just got back from a weekend at Oasis Point RV Resort. They have a large pond that has a nice beach, a huge slide and a zip line. They have kayaks, paddle boards and floats first come first serve," reports a recent camper.

Hiking nearby: Lake Hope State Park Campground offers numerous trails with varying difficulty levels. "Trails are superb...tall canopies, fern ground cover, a wild assortment of fungi and wildlife at every turn. The terrain is undulating but very doable," according to one experienced hiker. The Moonville Tunnel is a short drive away and offers a unique historical hiking destination.

What campers like

Privacy and seclusion: Farver Acres provides a rare camping experience with minimal crowds. "Our stay at this incredible campground was nothing short of magical. With three spacious gravel sites nestled in a quiet, serene setting, it truly felt like our own private escape from the world. We didn't see another person for four full days," reports one camper.

Easy river access: Campers at Hocking River RV Park appreciate the proximity to water. "This small and cost effective campground is so awesome! The river is small and is perfect to have a fire right next to. We also just went up the highway a little to a rafting rental place called murrys landing to raft down the river," notes an enthusiastic reviewer.

Campground amenities: Some rv sites near Jackson, Ohio include unique features that enhance the camping experience. "We have been here for a month. It's very quite, they have a beautiful lake for fishing only. Highly recommend if you need a quite spot to just relax," shares a visitor about Oasis Point RV Resort.

What you should know

Site conditions vary widely: Some rv camping options near Jackson feature level sites while others require adjustment. "Camp sites are very small and very unlevel, had to raise back of camper and put front about a 1/4" off ground to get close to level. Site around is sloped in all directions," notes a camper at Lake Hope State Park.

Bathroom facilities: Quality of restrooms varies considerably between campgrounds. "Bath house had good pressure and hot water in mens bathhouse 1 but womens had low pressure, bath house 2 had low to no pressure at times, but we're very clean and nice," reports a Lake Hope visitor.

Train noise concerns: Robert Newlon Airpark RV Park has railroad tracks nearby which affects some campers. "The campground is small. Has a nice dog park. Pickle ball courts Cafe Sky diving right here. The Ohio river is visible. The only real problem comes with the train tracks right here. The trains are close and do blow their whistle for crossing by the office."

Tips for camping with families

Activity options: Long's Retreat Family Resort provides numerous recreation choices for children. "So much to do!! Super family friendly and for those of all ages. It's our favorite place," comments one visitor. Another adds, "Swimming, water slides, canoeing, go-cart racing, mini golf, and a full arcade give plenty of variety."

Digital disconnect: Some campgrounds offer a technology break which many families appreciate. "Best part is there is no phone service.....everyone has to actually spend time together and it's a great reset!" shares a Long's Retreat camper. This can be beneficial for family bonding time.

Consider proximity to attractions: When traveling with children, some campgrounds work better as base camps. "This is not a campground in the woods. It is on a strip mine so expect a lot of rock and no shade. They have full hookups, so no bath house. They have a large pond that has a nice beach, a huge slide and a zip line," explains a visitor to Oasis Point.

Tips from RVers

Site selection for big rigs: RV sites near Jackson, Ohio sometimes require careful consideration for larger vehicles. "This is one of the more unique campgrounds we have stayed. The park is located on a local airstrip with parachutists, apparently jumping on Sundays. The sites did hold a bit of water after a strong rain, be prepared if bad weather is expected," notes a Robert Newlon Airpark visitor.

Seasonal considerations: For RVers seeking year-round options, Lakeview RV Park provides accessible sites. "Staff is very friendly and we got a nice pull through site for a quick stop over my way to upper Michigan. There's a really nice pond and has water activities if you stay longer. Easy in/out," shares one RVer.

Utility connections: Water pressure can vary between rv parks in the Jackson area. "The water pressure at the site was excellent — just be sure to bring a water pressure regulator to ensure a comfortable experience," advises a camper at Farver Acres who also noted, "We were pleasantly surprised by the fast campsite internet."
