Best RV Parks & Resorts near Corapeake, NC

Several RV parks near Corapeake offer full hookup options for motorhome travelers. Virginia Beach KOA provides 353 sites with water, electric, sewer connections, and accommodates big rigs with 50-amp service. North Landing Beach Campground features level sites with full hookups and is open year-round. The Colonies RV and Travel Park offers 30-50 amp electrical service across 22 sites, including 13 with full hookups and one pull-through site. Holiday Trav-L-Park in Virginia Beach has concrete pads on premium sites and gravel pull-through options with varying hookup configurations. "Sites are a little closer than I'm used to but it's not bad because of the way the sites are on an angle," noted one camper about Virginia Beach KOA.

Between Virginia Beach and Norfolk, RV travelers can find varying levels of amenities and site quality. Military installations like Little Creek MWR RV Park and Cape Henry RV Park require proper credentials but offer affordable full hookup options. Cell service varies significantly by carrier, with one reviewer reporting "AT&T had 2 bars and 6 MB/s without a booster, 3 bars and 8 MB/s with it" at Newport News Park. Most parks provide dump stations if sewer hookups aren't available at individual sites. During summer months, reservations are essential as oceanfront parks fill quickly. According to one visitor at Little Creek MWR RV Park, "connection boxes are set back pretty far on the sites, so you need longer hoses/cords" - an important consideration when planning your setup.

    Fort Eustis Recreation Area

    Excellent Bargain

    Season: year round

    Reservations: 757-878-2610 or 2565

    Pets: Leashed

    Sites: 9 $20.00 with w/e/s

    Cabins: 5 $75.00 daily

Picnic table, grill, playground, bowling, paintball, tennis, propane, water, electric, trash, laundry, showers, fishing

It was as if they have two sections in the campground. One section seems to have long term and then the section where the 9 sites are is nice and open with many mature trees. There is nice separation between sites. I loved the area but I am a country girl at heart. Nice to be in the heart of the military. BTW"GREAT" Military Transportation Museum. The commissary is fantastic, didn't go to the PX.

The Colonies RV and Travel Park

    Historic

Sites: 22 with 1 pull thru 13 full hookups 12 Tent sites

    Electric: 30-50 amp

This is a private campground and you do not have to be military to stay. It really is in a great location.

Beach, dump, firewood, showers, fire pit, store, ice picnic table, playground, toilets, concrete pads, horseshoes, trash. A wonderful spot for a campground on the Historic Fort Monroe. There is no gate to have to pass through to reach the campground. It is located on the far end and on a beautiful flat grassy area with beautiful mature trees. Well maintained and very quiet. While there you must check out the Fort Monroe Casement Museum. You have water on two sides with excellent walking area.

    Newport News Park

Quiet, spacious and heavily wooded sites

We stayed at site D100 for 10 days. The sites are quiet, very spacious, nicely spaced, some surprisingly so, but many are deceptively unlevel, particularly on the outside of the loops, and are heavily wooded. Some loops are primitive, some have only 20A service and some have 30A service and water hookup. There are no sewer hookups, but there is a dump station. There are a lot of low hanging branches on the roads through the park and it is showing some signs of age. There is some road noise from I 64, but not too bad if you stay deeper into the park and away from the lake. AT&T had 2 bars and 6 MB/s w/o a booster, 3 bars and 8 MB/s with it. There is no satellite coverage due to the heavy tree canopy. OTA TV was descent using an external omni antenna. There is no WiFi. We had the place pretty much to ourselves during the week, but the weekend did get busy. There is a very nice network of trails, most if not all were leashed dog friendly. The park is a civil war historic site and is close to a lot of other historic places.

    Virginia Beach KOA

    Great place

Great location, very close to the beach. Staff was pleasant, and accomodations were nice. Some site are a bit close to a busy road, and you get road noise. But if you ask to be in the back of park, it is quiet. Paved roads and have premium sites that are paved, with concrete pads and beautiful furniture, along with cooking fire pit. Other pull thru sites are gravel and grass. Wifi was awesome. Best yet at campsite. Very clean. Would recommend this site

    Isle of Wight Family Campground

    Nice and Very Quiet!

This is a really nice campground. They have on-site bathrooms/showers as well as laundry. It's mostly RV spots but they also allow tent camping and have a couple cabins available for rent. They have a dog park area, playground and pool. The store has items for purchase and a gathering room. They do potlucks and get togethers often for the campers. The staff is very friendly and super helpful. You can purchase firewood and propane on-site. Each spot has a concrete padded area with a picnic table and fire pit. It is a little ways out of town in any direction bit it's very nice and quiet out here as you're surrounded by woods. They also have a fishing pond and trails on-site. This really is one of the best campgrounds I've ever been to! Definitely recommend.

    Holiday Trav-L-Park

Touristy Campground with shuttle to VB oceanfront

This is a convenient place to stay close to the oceanfront if you’re going to be spending time along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. They have lots of amenities as well as putt-put and several pools.

There are various sections and some of the higher priced sites are very well kept but the newer pull through sites in the rear of the park flooded really badly when we were there and we had constant construction from backhoes and building crews, which took away front the relaxation somewhat. The tent sites are fairly nice unless it rains, which means floating on your air mattress. We had a fairly good experience with our travel trailer but it would have been miserable with a tent setup.

We’ve stayed a couple times prior to getting our camper and have had a good experience overall. The comfort stations are fairly clean but some are nice than others and you don’t know until after arrival if the closest ones are the better ones. There’s quite a division between the fancy side with full hookups and the sites with partial hookups.

Guide to Corapeake

Camping options near Corapeake, North Carolina span across the Virginia-North Carolina border along the coastal plain. Most sites in this region sit at elevations under 20 feet above sea level, creating flat terrain ideal for easy RV setup but sometimes prone to rainwater pooling during storms. The proximity to both Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean waterways means humidity remains high year-round, with summer temperatures consistently reaching 85-95°F.

What to do

Beach access on military installations: Fort Story's Cape Henry RV Park offers direct proximity to quieter shores. "This campground is located at the Fort Story Navy Base, set in a wooded area not far from a nice beach right at the corner of where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic. Two historic lighthouse mark the spot!" One visitor noted this beach is "much quieter than the beach at the nearby and more crowded 'First Landing' State Park."

Fishing opportunities: North Landing Beach Campground sits on waterfront property where campers can fish directly from shore. "We have spent many weekends here over the last few years and love it!" reports one regular visitor. The campground offers seasonal events like crawfish boils alongside the fishing opportunities, with one camper mentioning, "Lots to do, right here at your home away from home."

Historic exploration: Military history buffs camping near Corapeake can access Fort Monroe from The Colonies RV and Travel Park. "Located on historic Fort Monroe, VA the fort has a lot to offer. No reason to leave but if you do there's plenty in surrounding areas," explains one camper. The National Park site includes a military museum noted in reviews: "While there you must check out the Fort Monroe Casement Museum."

What campers like

Water views from multiple directions: At The Colonies RV and Travel Park, the peninsula location offers unique sunrise and sunset viewing opportunities. "It's located on a peninsula with beautiful bay and creek views. You can enjoy both the sunrise and sunset," writes one visitor who adds, "There is also a viewing deck with lounge chairs to watch the sunset over the creek side."

On-site entertainment: Virginia Beach KOA organizes regular activities for all ages. "Two great pools, tons of activities for the kids even during the week," notes one family. Another mentions the campground "host concerts and have many outdoor games to keep different ages involved." The transportation is also valued: "They have transportation via Trolly bus that comes through frequently throughout the day to transport you to Various beach side activities."

Uncrowded off-season camping: For RV camping near Corapeake during winter months, Virginia Beach KOA offers significant advantages. "Prices come way down during the off season. Much of the facilities are closed but they keep open one of their bathhouses," reports a winter visitor who found it to be a "peaceful stay in the winter months."

What you should know

Military base access requirements: Several campgrounds near Corapeake require proper military credentials. At Little Creek MWR RV Park, one reviewer notes, "It is on a military installation so you need to have access." Base traffic patterns also affect camping experience: "Traffic getting off base starting around 1500-1600 is bad, so plan accordingly."

Connectivity considerations: Cell service and internet access vary widely. At Little Creek, a camper reported, "Free wifi if you sign up for MWR's, but we used our T-Mobile home internet with good connection (4 bars). AT&T on our phones was 1 bar at best." Another campground visitor noted, "Cellular signal and Starlink won't work well here and the campground WiFi isn't great."

Utility hookup lengths: RVers should pack extra-long cables and hoses. As one Little Creek camper warned, "The connection boxes are set back pretty far on the sites, so you need longer hoses/cords. We had a long electric cord that reached and had to add a second water hose and second section of sewer hose to connect."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly beaches: North Landing Beach offers shallow water access ideal for younger children. "The beach was quiet and relaxing with beautiful sunsets," reports one family. Another notes, "Beach is perfect for little kids as well," making it particularly suitable for families with toddlers and elementary-aged children.

Pool options: Multiple campgrounds feature swimming pools as alternatives to beach swimming. One North Landing visitor highlighted the "great pool" among amenities, while another mentioned they "enjoyed the pool, kayaking & the activities." Virginia Beach KOA offers "two pools, 1 lazy river" according to visitor reports.

Rental equipment availability: Before packing all your gear, check what's available on-site. A visitor to Cape Henry RV Park mentioned "the base MWR has extensive recreational equipment rentals," which can save precious cargo space in your vehicle when RV camping near Corapeake.

Tips from RVers

Site selection for privacy: At The Colonies RV Travel Park, tent campers should request specific sites. "For more privacy (tent campers) ask for site 6 or 7," suggests one visitor who found these spots offered better seclusion than other options.

Leveling considerations: North Landing Beach Campground features level sites that minimize setup time. A reviewer noted the campground has "Full hookup (electric/water/sewer) on sites," while another mentioned there are various "RV sites right on the water" for prime waterfront parking.

Seasonal preparations: Summer visitors should book well ahead. The ferry option provides an alternative route: "Ferry Available into Camden, NC (fits our bus and 37ft TT)," notes a North Landing Beach Campground visitor, providing useful information about accommodating larger rigs on the local ferry.
