Best RV Parks & Resorts near Spencerport, NY

Several RV parks near Spencerport provide year-round accommodations for motorhomes and travel trailers. Southwoods RV Resort in Byron operates from May through October with full hookup sites on gravel pads that accommodate large rigs. The resort features both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, water hookups, and sewer connections. "The campground is quite large and has separate sections for seasonal and transient campers and has a variety of different campsites from back-ins to pull-thrus, 50 to 30-amps, and full hook-up to water and electric only," noted one visitor. Red Rock Ponds RV Resort in Holley offers similar amenities with big-rig friendly sites and operates seasonally from May through mid-October. Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort in Macedon provides full hookup sites with 30-amp and 50-amp options through late October.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended during summer weekends and holiday periods when RV parks in the region reach capacity. Most parks maintain paved interior roads, though some pull-through sections feature gravel surfaces that may require leveling equipment. According to one review, "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach." Dump stations are available at all parks, with some offering on-site pumping service for extended stays. Cell service varies by location, with AT&T and Verizon generally providing adequate coverage throughout the area. Pet policies differ between facilities, with most allowing dogs but enforcing leash requirements and designated pet areas. Winter camping options are limited, as most RV parks in the region close from November through April.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    Webster Park

    Close Family Camping

We go to webster park family campground several times a year for the past few years. Usually sometime in early May and in late October with an occasional day or two mid summer. It is a smaller single loop campground with sites for tents/small trailers, larger trailers, and motor homes. He difference is 30a power and no water or sewer, 50a power and water, and 50a power and water/sewer. There is a dump station. The motor home sites are all along the entrance road. The small and large trailer sites are distributed around the loop. Nice central playground and bathroom/shower house. There is hiking in the park, lots of nice woods, big field for playing games/sports. It’s close to town and home for us. We stay close to the playground these days in our pop up usually at site 5 so our 5 and 9 year old can walk or ride to campground. We like site 1 as well. We stay on the outer ring on that side of loop as it gives access to the woods and trails behind the sites. The campground is very quiet and very kid friendly to allow them to walk around and ride or scooter the loop alone.

They allow reservations online on the monroe county parks website, and are open May 1st to October 31st.

    Niagara County Camping Resort

    Niagra County Camping Resort

Arrived late at night to this established site. This is a mixed accommodation campground with established long term residents & short term sites.

Some sites include a table, power access and tire rim for fire-ring. Showers & flushing toilets are near RV sites in back area. Small camp store, swimming pond & fishing pond. Manager, Christine very nice & helpful.

Campground is relatively close to scenic drives along Lake Ontario & Niagra State Park, Niagra Falls.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

    Southwoods RV Resort

    Enjoyed our stay

We stayed at Southwoods while visiting the Rochester, NY area and exploring attractions in the area. The campground is about 20-25 miles from downtown Rochester and located in a quiet rural setting surrounded by farmland. The campground is quite large and has separate sections for seasonal and transient campers and has a variety of different campsites from back-ins to pull-thrus, 50 to 30-amps, and full hook-up to water and electric only. The campground manager was very nice and helpful when we checked in and was able to extend our stay thru the weekend without us having to move sites. The park is gated and very clean and well-groomed.  Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Southwoods and would stay there again if we were in the area.

We chose a back-in 50-amp full hook-up site (M28) at $42/night. All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn’t need any extensions. The water pressure and electric were good. Most of the roads in the park are paved with the exception of the pull-thru section in the front of the park (N12-N25) which is gravel. All campsite pads are gravel except for three long pull-thrus that are paved(M24-M26).

We had a fire pit and picnic table and there was nice grass between sites. There was free WiFi which worked well except during peak hours and over the weekend when the park was full. We stayed four nights (which included a weekend) and experienced the park going from half full and quiet to packed with lots of music, all-day fires, and big gatherings. In the back section of the park is a very large group/rally area with sixty sites and a large pavilion for gatherings. All sites in that section are on grass and water/electric.

The campground has lots of amenities like two swimming pools, nice camp store (with lots of food, souvenirs, and gifts), a large playground, miniature golf, sand volleyball and basketball courts, large recreation hall/wedding venue, bicycle track, and game room. There is a short nature trail through a wooded area. They have a busy events calendar throughout the year with lots of get-togethers. During our stay they had a closing weekend pizza and wings party with live music for a small fee. We chose not to go to the party but went to a local historic steak house (The Johnson House) and had delicious prime rib instead (which was very good) for a lot more money!

One downside of this park is that the sites are pretty close and feel a little cramped when the park is full. There is a train track near the park which occasionally is quite noisy. Rochester is about a 45-minute drive but the town of Batavia is about 15 minutes away and has groceries, fuel, restaurants, shopping, etc.

Jellystone Park™ of Western New York

Camping resort in the middle of nowhere

There was a great WiFi connection, so it was difficult to get my boys to go explore! We have a 35 foot travel trailer and had zero difficulty backing into a W/E spot. Gravel pads, decent space between RVs. We did need our extra hose to reach our spigot but I think that was unusual. The dump station was easy to get to and clean when we left.

Playgrounds, beach, mini-golf, dog park, bounce pillow, basketball, volleyball, movie nights, wagon rides twice a day with Jellystone characters, lots of daily activities, water park, kayaks, SUP’s, canoes, LIFEGUARDS!... ALL INCLUDED. My kids did mini-golf 4 times. Snack bar (with good wings and delivers!). Golf cart rentals. What was I most impressed with? Trash pickup. You put it in front of your site, somebody picked it up. Any time of day.

There were three types of cabins I saw, but didn’t go inside. You could fish in the pond. The website says Laser Tag but we didn’t explore that far. The town is teeny tiny so no good grocery store around. The grounds were well kept. Niagara Falls were a little more than an hour away. Great day trip!

We we will come back next year and bring our cousins!

Guide to Spencerport

RV accommodations near Spencerport, New York are situated in rural farmland settings approximately 15-25 miles from downtown Rochester. The camping season typically runs from mid-April through October, with most facilities closing during winter months due to harsh weather conditions. The area features several family-owned RV parks with varying degrees of privacy between sites and different terrain challenges.

What to do

Visit Chimney Bluffs State Park: Located near Lake Bluff RV Park, these unique clay formations along Lake Ontario are worth exploring. "Just around the corner from chimney bluff state park which are a must see!" notes one camper at Lake Bluff.

Swimming options: Multiple pools are available at Southwoods RV Resort for cooling off during summer months. "2 well kept pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball. The employees are so helpful and nice!" reports a visitor.

Golf and camping combo: Campers can enjoy both activities at Hickory Ridge. "It's definitely more of a 'locals only' kind of feel as it is a country club and golf resort primarily," explains one reviewer, suggesting it works best for those planning to golf during their stay.

Fishing opportunities: Local ponds offer catch-and-release fishing at several campgrounds. At Niagara Hartland RV Resort, "pond was great for the dogs" while Lake Bluff features a "frog pond, catch and release fishing."

What campers like

Family activities: Twilight on the Erie RV Resort offers entertainment for kids and adults. "Live music on Friday Night (weather permitting) and plenty of activities for the family on the weekends," writes one camper, adding that "kids on bikes and having a good time in the enormous play area and the pool" make it family-friendly.

Well-maintained facilities: Cleanliness is frequently mentioned as a positive. "Bathrooms were very clean. Quiet campground. Lots of plays areas for kids," notes a Southwoods visitor. Another adds, "the park is gated and very clean and well-groomed."

Rural setting: The peaceful surroundings appeal to many campers. One visitor described Southwoods as being "located in a quiet rural setting surrounded by farmland," offering a break from urban life without being too remote.

Kid-friendly amenities: Lake Bluff RV Park earns praise for its youth activities. "They do events for kids every weekend," shares a visitor, while another mentions that "even with COVID they have stuff to keep them busy."

What you should know

Leveling challenges: Several parks have uneven terrain requiring additional equipment. At Skyline RV Resort, campers note it can be "a little tight if you like to spread out" while the campground map may not always reflect current hookup availability.

Seasonal population: Many parks maintain a high percentage of permanent seasonal residents. "The campground is made up of mostly seasonal campers," explains a Lei-ti visitor, while Red Rock Ponds is described as having "primarily permanent sites."

Variable cell coverage: While generally adequate in the region, signal strength varies by specific location and carrier. AT&T and Verizon usually provide sufficient coverage for basic needs at most campgrounds.

Occupancy patterns: Weekdays typically offer quieter environments with less crowding. One Southwoods camper observed the park "going from half full and quiet to packed with lots of music, all-day fires, and big gatherings" on weekends.

Tips for camping with families

Recreation options: Choose sites near playground facilities for convenience with children. At Southwoods RV Resort, families appreciate that the campground "accommodates campers of all ages" with "playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball."

Safety considerations: Speed restrictions enhance safety for younger visitors. At Twilight on the Erie, "the speed limit is 5 MPH and they mean it.... Kids on bikes and having a good time in the enormous play area" creates a secure environment.

Activity scheduling: Weekend stays offer more organized children's events. "They have a busy events calendar throughout the year with lots of get-togethers," notes a Southwoods visitor, mentioning a "closing weekend pizza and wings party with live music for a small fee."

Campsite selection: Request sites away from train tracks when booking for quieter nights. Some campers mention occasional train noise at certain campgrounds that might disturb light sleepers or young children.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Bring adequate leveling equipment for most parks in the region. One reviewer noted at Twilight on the Erie that "almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach."

Reservation timing: Book well in advance for summer weekends, particularly for larger rigs. "The campground manager was very nice and helpful when we checked in and was able to extend our stay thru the weekend without us having to move sites," shares a satisfied Southwoods camper.

Hookup variations: Verify specific site amenities before booking as they vary within parks. A visitor to Skyline RV Resort reported that "the map was not correct and we did not have sewer hook up at the sight. The dumping station was free or included."

Site privacy: Expect closer quarters during peak season. "The sites are pretty close and feel a little cramped when the park is full," reports one Southwoods visitor, suggesting mid-week stays for those preferring more space between neighbors.
