Weather conditions can change rapidly near Lake Ontario, with cooler temperatures and stronger winds common along the shoreline compared to inland sites. Niagara County Camping Resort

    Niagra County Camping Resort

Arrived late at night to this established site. This is a mixed accommodation campground with established long term residents & short term sites.

Some sites include a table, power access and tire rim for fire-ring. Showers & flushing toilets are near RV sites in back area. Small camp store, swimming pond & fishing pond. Manager, Christine very nice & helpful.

Campground is relatively close to scenic drives along Lake Ontario & Niagra State Park, Niagra Falls.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Inexpensive, Peaceful.

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions, twice in RV 12 and once in RV 6.

I used the 30 AMP hookup and had zero issues.

Beautiful playground for my son to enjoy and meet other kiddos. Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours.

    Large dumpsters near entrance.

Dump stations are present, but I haven't used them yet.

Potable water is present at a small spigot.

The washrooms facility is very close and speaking for the men's side, it had 2 stalls, 2 urinals, 2 showers, multiple sinks, and a sturdy baby changing station.

Hiking trails with gorgeous views of the valley within a 5 min walk of my campsite.

    Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground

    Kid friendly but Bee Problem

We had a lot of fun here and there’s a lot of activities for kids I would typically give this campsite 5 stars but our only problem was there were bees everywhere. I get some bees are apart of the camping experience and nature but we’ve never ran into this problem elsewhere. They were all over the campground it was very unpleasant and there was a nest under the playground we did advise management of.

    Hamlin Beach State Park Campground

    Relaxing 2 weeks

The camp store is closed along with no firewood and no laundry.

We stayed for 2 weeks and it was so relaxing. We loved biking through the loops and by the beach at the park. There was live music at the park during the week. The campground has an activity room full of things to do. As a state park, there are a lot of different people with different values, so be ready for the occasional obnoxious family. Our site was secluded and in the pines. We love it here and will definitely do this again!

    Stay Bristol Woodlands

    Well maintained and friendly Staff!

Campground is adorable, you can see a lot of other campers, but the spots are spaced out. Showers were nice, didn’t get to try the pool out as it was a quick stopover, but this seems like a fun place to spend some time

    Beaver Meadow Family Campground

    Ridiculous pool rule

The campgrounds are nice. The staff, friendly. Brought our RV so I didn’t see the bathrooms. We had a site that was “lake view” which was funny because it’s a pond. It was stocked so fishing was fun. They have a nice heated pool. My only real issue is the ridiculous two adult pool rule if you are with kids. We spent all day at the rodeo. We came back ready to swim after being in the sun all day. Of course my toddler fell asleep so I stayed with him at the campsite and my husband took our other two kids to the pool. They were able to swim for 15 mins before the other people who were at the pool took off. So it was just my husband and kids left. The lady working in the office came out and told them they had to get out because“there has to be two adults and one has to stay on deck”. Like, what?!? Seriously? That’s the stupidest rule I’ve ever heard. So he gets my very disappointed kids out of the pool and they are just hanging out pool side hoping for basically a stranger to come swim so they can swim. They waited nearly an hour before they got defeated and came back to the camper. Stupid rule. I’ve never seen any campground ever have that rule. If you are that worried about a solo parent taking care of their kids, hire a life guard. Or make that pool rule known prior to booking. My kids had life jackets on and my husband is CPR certified. Literally will never come here again because of this rule. Lame lame LAME.

What to do

Fishing at multiple ponds: Gravel Ponds Fishing/Recreation/Camping offers electric hookups for RVs while providing access to stocked fishing waters. According to Briannah W., "My mom used to play in a band called boys lie - we used to go to gravel ponds every 4th of July for AMAZING fireworks! And a really cool atmosphere."

Hiking woodland trails: Webster Park features numerous wooded paths for nature exploration. Joseph W. notes, "We did a last minute reservation and ended up loving the place. There was good separation between the campsites and the bathrooms and showers were clean. Wasn't too far from a park along Ontario. Overall a great stay!"

Swimming in Lake Ontario: Hamlin Beach State Park Campground provides direct access to sandy beaches with certified lifeguards during summer months. Erin T. mentions, "Great access to the shores of Lake Ontario from campground. Also few mile stretch of beaches. Short but pretty nature trail through the woods opposite the lake as well that goes through hard words and into wetlands."

Explore geological features: Visit the nearby gorges at Letchworth State Park for day trips from your Spencerport base camp. Seth S. shares, "Wonderful park. The canyon was incredible, and lots of look out spots. The roads, and trails, and lookout points are all well constructed, and flow well."

What campers like

Spacious sites with privacy: Big Guys Campground offers larger than average campsites. Marie confirms, "All the sites are large and designed for family and friends to contact and enjoy."

Clean facilities: Southwoods RV Resort maintains well-kept bathrooms and common areas throughout the season. Sydney W. reports, "Bathrooms were very clean. Quiet campground. Lots of plays areas for kids."

Lake views and beach access: Many campers appreciate Hamlin Beach State Park's combination of wooded sites and beach proximity. Benjamin C. explains, "The sites in the loop we stayed in had about 75' between driveways, all with varying levels of trees/brush between them, very secluded. The beach is a decent little hike, but very easy flat bike ride or about a minute in a car going 15mph."

Well-maintained campground roads: Monroe County Webster Park receives positive feedback for its accessibility. Megan&Billy G. state simply, "Nothing bad to say about webster park. Beautiful peaceful and quiet."

What you should know

Cell service limitations: Some campgrounds near Spencerport have spotty reception. At Hamlin Beach State Park, Rino S. notes, "We stayed for 1 night on a Thursday. At&t reception is almost non existent."

Reservation requirements: Most campgrounds fill quickly, especially for summer weekends. For Southwoods RV Resort, Nancy W. advises, "The campground manager was very nice and helpful when we checked in and was able to extend our stay thru the weekend without us having to move sites. The park is gated and very clean and well-groomed."

Tips for camping with families

Budget-friendly camping options: Genesee Country Campground offers affordable tent sites for families. Randall K. shares, "What a great place this was! Everyone was very nice and bathrooms were so clean! To top it off the sites for tents are amazing - so private and pretty."

Tips from RVers

Muddy conditions after rain: Prepare for potential wet conditions during and after rainfall. Craig J. cautions about Webster Park, "We stayed 6 nights. There was an okay bathroom (a bit run down) and clean, separate hot showers nearby our site, but our site was muddy and numerous sites around us were muddy, too."
