River activities for all ages: At Lake George Riverview Campground, campers can enjoy direct river access with multiple options. "The river is the attraction at this Campground that provides hours of entertainment. Island camping experiences: For a unique alternative to standard glamping, Long Island Group — Lake George Islands offers boat-accessible sites. "Worth a trip from just about anywhere. Bike path access: King Phillip's Campground connects directly to a bike trail into Lake George. "I'm rating this campground as a 5/5 because of the location. We road the bike path each day to and from Lake George. It was downhill on the way there and a little bit of an uphill battle on the way back but totally worth it! Bring your bikes!!" recommends Stephanie H.
What Campers Like

Spacious glamping sites: Moose Hillock Camping Resorts features unusually large sites with privacy features. "The sites at this park are huge. You could have parked three RVs in our site. Canoe and kayak opportunities: Alpine Lake RV Resort offers waterfront access for personal watercraft. "Waterfront sites worth the dollars! Bring your boats and SUP boards for lots of fun! Hikers and water enthusiasts will live this place! Lots to explore," suggests Deb V.
What You Should Know
Highway noise considerations: Some campgrounds near major roads experience traffic noise. "We were at site 212, and were here for 3 nights... The Northway was directly to the west, maybe 1000 ft through the woods, extremely loud traffic noise," warns Cat R. about Lake George Campsites.
Busy summer seasons: Popular sites fill quickly during peak times. "Nicely treed sites and cabins with a pretty lake. Hiking, biking, swimming, boat/canoe/paddleboard rentals... We really like it here," explains nancy K. about Moreau Lake State Park Campground.
Varying amenity availability: Lake George Riverview Campground has ongoing improvements that may impact visits. "Apparently, it is under new management and there are lots of changes that the new owners are proud of. But that also means there is a lot of on-going construction happening in the campground which was pretty annoying," reports Nancy W.
Wildlife encounters: Island camping locations may have unexpected visitors. "The raccoon situation...was bad. We were literally bombarded with a group of raccoons each night," warns Ryan about Long Island Group camping.
Tips for Camping with Families
Look for dedicated play areas: Alpine Lake RV Resort provides multiple recreation options. "Great park near Lake George. Very spacious with many different activities to do! They have movies, dances and even some kayaking, padding, ect. They have these dinos scattered throughout the park and also a few pools," details Meag F.
Consider proximity to attractions: King Phillip's Campground offers convenient access to area activities. "Great spot in Lake George. Big resort with tons of seasonal sites and residents. A small pool, and lots of activities for guests... Great access to Lake George area, just outside of town, which can be nice given all the activities in town," explains IAN P.
Select campgrounds with planned activities: Lake George Escape Campground structures entertainment for children. "Great Camper camp ground! This place is great for families, it has different activities, a waterslide, peddle carts, kayaks and boats for rent, dancing, and teen specific activities too!" shares Meag F.
Test glamping options for beginners: Less-experienced campers may prefer sites with more amenities. "The tent we stayed in was gorgeous! We fit 5 of us comfortably. Linens, blankets and pillows were provided. There was a fire pit, BBQ, picnic table with umbrella, covered platform, and a partition between campsites," describes Christina M. about glamping at Lake George Escape Campground.
Tips from RVers
Reserve sites with full hookups: Ledgeview Village RV Park provides complete RV services. "Big sites, grounds were very clean, level sites, quiet, staff was very pleasant," reports ERIC C.
Check leveling requirements: Some sites require additional equipment for proper setup. "The site pad was packed gravel and slightly unlevel. We have a 27 foot camper and was slightly difficult to maneuver into the site. If your camper sits low, chances are it will hit the road on some of the inclines," cautions Cat R. about King Phillip's Campground.
Consider site privacy: Many RV parks near South Glens Falls offer separated sites. "Campsites are spacious, shady, and had good separation between the neighboring sites which we enjoyed. Generators are allowed but not too many people were using them," notes Nancy W. about Moreau Lake State Park Campground.
Navigate tight turns carefully: Some campgrounds present challenges for larger vehicles. "The road to our campsite was paved and in good shape but there were a few tight spots because of the trees that make it tricky for a big rig (Loop A seems to be the best for big-rigs)," advises Nancy W.
