Due to its proximity to Niagara Falls, it is no surprise that HTR Niagara Campground (formerly Branches of the Niagara Campground) is a popular camping destination. This is a fairly new campground on Grand Island near Niagara Falls. There a lot to do here, kayaking the pond, 2 zip lines, miniature golf and great pools. The bathroom/showers are spotless. The sites have a decent amount of room and many have a lot of shade. They have back in or pull through sites, cabins, tent sites and even yurts.
The best part of Golden Hill is being right on the shore of Lake Ontario. The Lakeside sites are the best bet as you get an unobstructed view of the incredible sunrise and sunset over the lake. The shade and privacy is nothing to speak of, but the views make up for that. The lighthouse is also worth checking out. There are also Yurts here that can be rented.
Located a short drive to the Falls, on the "less busy side", to boot! Sites for all types of camping available as well as nice new cabins and yurts for rent! There's a pretty large pond with a picnic island in the middle and a beach. Playground, mini golf, weekly free activities ranging from root beer float night to a traveling Birds of Prey show! Nightly Hayrides around the grounds, and rentals for various boats available. Adult and kid zip lines. The bathrooms were seriously nicer than most home bathrooms. Beautiful! Grounds were very well kept & staff friendly. There is also a unique salt water pool and activity hut. Love love love this place! We didn't even want to leave it to go to the Falls!
This camp used to be a Christian camp and is under new ownership and renovations. The owners have a huge project before them.
The bathrooms are immaculate, but the grass was uncut and feral cats lived in the trash cans and scatter trash as well as meow at campsites all night.
The view of Lake Ontario was amazing, even if view through overgrown brush. The sites are small and close, despite the large amount of property owned here.
Beautiful place. Owners very friendly, beautiful sunsets, beach access, well kept and very clean.
Love it here!
Nice secluded place. Quiet surroundings with lots of stuff for kids to do. Swimming, fishing, putt putt, petting zoo. Camp sites are clean and large. Ownership is extremely friendly. Will visit again.
Thanks a lot for the helpful information you bring. Hope you will always give everyone as many great posts as possible in the future.
We wanted to spend a few months here for family and such. The location was awesome. The campground was well cared for and the staff was wonderful.
Our problem was that the low voltage power would trip our EMS. Power went to as low as 109 volts that I saw.
We really wanted to love it there but with no sewer and bad power we had to leave early. I hope they upgrade the power coming into the park.
This campground is not for everyone, as it’s mostly long term campers and pull-alongs. It is set right on beautiful Lake Ontario, across from the Toronto skyline. It’s a quiet simple pretty place.
Very well kept campground. Owners on site and attentive. Walking distance to Lake Ontario, you can see Toronto on a clear day.
This campground is clearly well-maintained. Everything was tidy and clean, from our campsite, laundry room, showers, bathroom, camp store, and walking paths. My only complaint is that all campsites do NOT have a view of Lake Ontario. However, it’s just a short walk to a nice grassy area to overlook it. There were several more tent sites available, but this is definitely a campground that caters to seasonal campers/RVs. Only 25 min. outside of Niagara Falls so we were able to get there early. Also, the owner was very responsive.
This was a beautiful campground right on Lake Ontario. You could even see Toronto from the shore. The host was super accommodating when we realized our assigned spot was close to the road. He allowed us to pick another, further from the road and closer to both bathrooms and the lake. We arrived on the day of the eclipse, so they were having a little hot dog roast that was very cute. Bathrooms were big, clean and heated. There was a pool, but still closed for the season. Between the camp spots and the lake was a giant green space- awesome for throwing a ball around with your pup! 🐾

There is so much to do at Lazy Lakes! From fishing to pools the kids always had something to do. I enjoyed the wine tasting and flea market. It was pretty quiet at night, which is nice as we are early risers. The sites were pretty close together, but since everyone was friendly it wasn't a huge deal. Overall it was a fun weekend with a lot for kids to do.
We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.
I would like to start off by saying this was our first time visiting the Medina Wildwood Koa and unfortunately it will have to be our last. Our camp ground it’s self was great. Lots of space, a picnic bench, a fire pit, a grill and even a lake you can fish/rent boats to go on right behind us!
There were many different ways to keep busy and have fun. We were able to float in tubes at the creek, go swimming, rent a peddle boat, play at the playground, rent a golf cart, and jump on a big jumping pillow. And I must say the bathrooms were pristine and air conditioned! Loved that!!
The major problem with this campground is the very rude people. Not only was the customer service absolutely horrible and spoke to not only adults but also children in a very rude harsh way making us ALL feel incompetent/uneducated but the regulars at this campground are just as rude and disrespectful. How can you ever feel welcome or want to come back to a campground with staff saying things like: “You must not know how to read” and clearing there throats very loudly with their arms crossed before telling us other things we may have been doing wrong very sarcastically.
I do admit that we did do some things the wrong way and as soon as we found out or saw on our own we corrected them. It’s just not something I would ever want to endure again especially since my kids feelings were hurt the most and this was ment for them to have fun.
everyone who stays is always so friendly & staff is friendly and helpful
I can't really complain too much about the campground. The staff was friendly and helpful although I came in after an eight hour drive and totally exhausted. I wasn't happy when they charged me almost the full price of our stay (yeah, I forgot about that but I didn't have the credit card it was supposed to go on). Then they charged me $10 for a fob to let me in the gate after hours. Not quite sure how that was supposed to work since half the time the gate wasn't manned anyway. At least we got our money back for it but it was one more expense I wasn't expecting. It was frustrating. The pond was disgusting. I wouldn't swim in it. Trash was all over the edge of the pond. My son and I cleaned up after some guests. The sites weren't marked. I drove by our site and had to ask another guest where it was. The campground is mostly long-term campers. Most have decks and shrubbery surrounding their rv's. There were even a couple of mobile homes. Saturday night was horrible as the golf carts kept going up and down the street until around midnight. Fortunately, everyone left the next day and the campground was very pleasant to stay in. The frogs were a hoot and we woke every morning to the cows at the farm next door. Loved the two pools and the creek. Nice little snack bar inside the store and office. Just wish the office opened earlier. We left at 8 before anyone was there and had to have our refund mailed. Would I stay there again? No. I much prefer state campgrounds.
This KOA was really big. We came a stayed the weekend, which was packed and very loud. There was a Christmas in July theme and the Christmas lights were honestly annoying. Sunday night rolled around though and everything changed. We did not get to do anyone of the in camp activities because we were doing so much site seeing, but there are two small pools, a pond, basketball courts, play ground and jump pad.
This is about an hour from Niagara.
This campground has everything and the KOA standards. Lots of activities for kid so of all ages. There are multiple pools, an awesome creek, the store staff will inflate tubes to use in the creek for you. There is a lake with non-motor boat rentals, they have a small pub with local brews on tap and a large activity hall. Great staff!
Very small campground. Sites packed close together. ON Lake Ontario- SO gorgeous. Playground for kiddos. NOT FHU. Very quiet area (eventhough campground was packed).
We camped at Golden Hill over the weekend of July 24-26, 2020. Due to COVID, advance reservations are required to book a spot at any NY state campground. We had site 47 in loop C, which was across the road from the lake view sites. I recommend sites 40-45 for lake-front views. Loops A and B were more crowded and more suitable to RV trailers and rigs (we were camping in a pop-up camper). Site 47 was large and had a few trees. The campfire ring was right against the pad, which made it difficult to position our pop-up so that it was away from the fire ring.
Things to consider: There are 2 bathrooms in the campground, one near the A-B loops and one near the entrance. It was quite a hike in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom from our site. Some sites in the A-B loops are right next to each other, and we preferred the space for the sites in the C loop.
Wonderful things: The views are spectacular, particularly at sunset. The campground was quiet at night. The Niagara Wine trail is close to this campground, and Niagara Falls is about a 50 minute drive away. We hiked Devil's Hole and Whirlpool State Parks on this camping trip. The showers in the bathrooms were phenomenal - very clean with hot water and a private dressing area next to the shower. Showers were ADA compliant and had shower seats.
Quaint site with historic buildings, nice views, great sunsets. Really clean and modern facilities, lots of water and electricity sites. Sites are semi-private, some right next to the shore. Nice isolated spot between Buffalo/Niagara Falls and Rochester. If you’re with a group definitely rent the cabins.
Gorgeous view! The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Excellent trails to hike. Would definitely recommend!!!
Definitely a clean and well maintained campground. The good thing about this site is that there is a great bathroom available and very relaxed environment. There is also a Frisbee gulf course, basketball court, fishing, boat launch available. I do recommend bringing your own gear.
family-friendly
Be sure to visit the light house on your visit. With standard sites and a beautiful water for fishing this camp ground is great for a weekend or even for a day hike or a nice game of frisbee golf. Lots of history at this place!
It was glorious to sleep to the sound of waves hitting the shore and wake to the panoramic Lake Ontario view. The old lighthouse is a beautiful building, and the grounds in general are super well kept. There is a gazebo I would love to sit in for hours with a good book...
