    Big Guys Campground

    Activities for all ages!

There is so much to do at this camp! They have a jump pillow, pool arcade, movie room, RC track, and bingo for everyone. They have live music at tavern on the property with great food! They have a disc golf field, fishing, and so many places to go on the golf carts! They also go in big on their themed weekends. Great place to go if you want the kids exhausted at the end of the day!!

    Sugar Hill Fire Tower Campsite

    Free camping with amenities!

26 camp sites with bathrooms! That flush! Very quiet and the sites aren’t on top of each other. People bring their horses. You can drive to to your site and tent camp or camper camp. I would come back!

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Inexpensive, Peaceful.

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions, twice in RV 12 and once in RV 6.

I used the 30 AMP hookup and had zero issues.

Beautiful playground for my son to enjoy and meet other kiddos. Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours.

    Large dumpsters near entrance.

Dump stations are present, but I haven't used them yet.

Potable water is present at a small spigot.

The washrooms facility is very close and speaking for the men's side, it had 2 stalls, 2 urinals, 2 showers, multiple sinks, and a sturdy baby changing station.

Hiking trails with gorgeous views of the valley within a 5 min walk of my campsite.

    Hamlin Beach State Park Campground

    Relaxing 2 weeks

The camp store is closed along with no firewood and no laundry.

We stayed for 2 weeks and it was so relaxing. We loved biking through the loops and by the beach at the park. There was live music at the park during the week. The campground has an activity room full of things to do. As a state park, there are a lot of different people with different values, so be ready for the occasional obnoxious family. Our site was secluded and in the pines. We love it here and will definitely do this again!

    Woodstream Campsite

    Rip off

Have to stay at least 2 nights. Employees say one thing. Then boss charges me even though I was told it was okay. Aren't willing to reason with. Also traffic very loud at night

    Stay Bristol Woodlands

    Well maintained and friendly Staff!

Campground is adorable, you can see a lot of other campers, but the spots are spaced out. Showers were nice, didn’t get to try the pool out as it was a quick stopover, but this seems like a fun place to spend some time

    Canandaigua-Rochester KOA

    Finger Lakes National Forest

Quiet site near a small pond

The road in (a loop) is steep on both sides (a truck or vehicle with clearance would be helpful but you could also park at the bottom if you needed to). The site was trashy so we picked up a lot of what we could. A bonus—the site was quiet, roomy and once at the ‘top’ is quite level. Not vehicles came in or out all night (and it was a Saturday!).

Guide to Fishers

Fishers, New York campgrounds operate in a continental climate with distinct seasons, including humid summers where temperatures range from 65-85°F and cold winters with significant snowfall averaging 60-70 inches annually. Elevation in the area varies between 500-1000 feet above sea level, creating diverse camping environments from lowland lake settings to higher wooded terrain. Most campsites near Fishers remain open from May through mid-October, with limited cold-weather camping options available.

What to do

Hiking and trail access: At Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill, visitors can explore extensive trail networks. "Lots of trails at the park for hikers, mountain bikers and trail runners. Follow the Finger Lakes Trail all the way into town," notes one camper. The park connects to larger trail systems, making it suitable for day hikes or longer excursions.

Fishing opportunities: Conesus Lake Campground provides water recreation access. "The campground has boat rentals, paddle board and kayak rentals available," reports a recent visitor. Fishing is particularly productive in spring and early summer when bass and perch are most active.

Winter activities: While most campgrounds close seasonally, some areas maintain winter trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The region receives consistent snowfall from December through March, creating opportunities for winter recreation in the surrounding county parks and forest preserves.

What campers like

Privacy between sites: Webster Park earns praise for its spacious layout. "The sites are large and accommodating. It's clean, and that you have more privacy than other sites I've been to," writes one camper. Sites are arranged to maximize woodland buffer zones between neighbors.

Unique campground amenities: Canandaigua-Rochester KOA offers distinctive features beyond standard facilities. "We spent father's day weekend at the KOA. Our kids rented cabins and some used tents and others came for the day. The campground has so much to do between swimming, golf, bike and paddle boat rentals. There's Ziplines with treetop walk and a bounce. And even a play area for your dogs," explains a satisfied visitor.

Natural wildlife encounters: Multiple campgrounds report regular wildlife sightings. One camper at Monroe County Webster Park shared, "Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours." Morning and evening hours provide the best wildlife viewing opportunities.

What you should know

Site levelness varies significantly: Several campgrounds require proper preparation. At Letchworth State Park Campground, a visitor noted, "All are wooded, and connect to trails directly from your campsite." However, at Ontario County Park, another camper advised, "Make sure to bring plenty of leveling blocks as some sites are far from level."

Reservation requirements: Most campgrounds require advance booking, especially during summer weekends. Webster Park and Letchworth State Park typically fill weekends 3-4 weeks in advance during peak season. Sites with electrical hookups book fastest.

Cell service limitations: Coverage can be spotty. "Cell phone coverage is poor by Verizon and T-Mobile, and there is no WiFi, and no camp store (but the town of Webster is nearby)," reports a visitor to Monroe County Webster Park. Plan communications accordingly.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort caters specifically to families with children. "The speed limit is 5 MPH and they mean it.... Kids on bikes and having a good time in the enormous play area and the pool far enough from the campsites but close to the store and watchful eye of the staff," notes one parent.

Easy fishing for kids: Canandaigua-Rochester KOA offers a stocked pond where young anglers find success. "It has a pond where the fish are easy to catch with hotdogs!" shares one family. This provides a low-barrier entry to fishing for beginners.

Safety considerations: Several campgrounds feature vehicle speed restrictions and protected play areas. "The campground is clean and well maintained... Plenty of room on each site for whatever you need. Multiple playgrounds which are clean & well maintained," reports a visitor to Ontario County Park.

Tips from RVers

Hookup locations: Some campgrounds have unusual utility arrangements. One camper at Canandaigua-Rochester KOA mentioned, "Our water hook up was in the middle of someone's site," indicating the need to bring extra-length hoses at some locations.

Terrain challenges: The topography can create access issues. A visitor to Conesus Lake Campground warned, "The campground is on a very steep hill so it is difficult to walk around." Many RVers rent golf carts at locations with significant elevation changes.

Site selection strategy: Specific site numbers get recommended by experienced visitors. "We had site 250 and really liked it... The bathrooms were toilet/shower combos and were very clean," notes a Conesus Lake Campground guest, highlighting the importance of researching specific site numbers when booking.
