Several campgrounds, including the Canandaigua-Rochester KOA and Red's Twilight on the Erie, have on-site camp stores for basic provisions. Bathroom facilities range from private in-cabin bathrooms at premium locations to centralized shower houses at more rustic sites. Proximity to Webster and other Brighton-area communities means grocery stores are accessible for additional supplies, though stocking up before arrival is recommended.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

A little gem with a lot to do

Cabin campers here at letchworth for the past two years. We stumbled on cabin camping at letchworth due to weekends being booked for almost the entire summer for tent spots. the cabins are spacious, with bunk beds, a stove, fridge, and a fire place. i thought they might be close together, yet they were all pretty private, with a fire ring and picnic table. There was a beautiful updated playground, and clean bathrooms. Last summer they had just opened the new nature center with guided hikes, and activities all summer long.

Great for the falls, swimming, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking and so much more!

    Sampson State Park Campground

    Back for a 2nd time

    HIGHLIGHTS :

    Most sites are pretty spacious

    Pets allowed in some loops

Marina convenience store with pontoon boat rentals

    Fishing

    Swimming

    Ice cream and concessions stand

    Arcade room

    Outdoor movie screen

    Nice playgrounds

    Military museum

Paved loops - good for bikes and scooters

    NEAR BY ATTRACTIONS: Wineries

    CONS:

Electric service boxes are shared in-between sites. This could pose an issue if your power cord is not long enough.

There is only source for water fill up. This could end up being a very very long wait if you arrive at the same time as other campers.

    Only 2 dump stations

They don’t allow pull-in camping. Campers MUST be backed in

    Flint Creek Campgrounds

Great activities, friendly hosts, full hook ups!

Close to wine country you will find this gem of a family campground. Dog and kid friendly with activities such as wagon rides, arts and crafts, movie night and various themed weekend events. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming during our entire stay. An easy back in site with full hookups (B10) backed against a row of trees and a field that provided much entertainment of squirrels and birds. There is a camp store with very reasonable prices and accepts credit cards. Wood ($4) and ice ($2) are also for sale. There are two small cabins to rent along with a couple of family tent sites. The bathrooms/showers were clean near the camp store. Amenities include a pool, mini golf ($1/person), two playgrounds, horseshoes, a recreation center with games and movies, basketball and shuffle board. There are many seasonal campers at this campground, but all seemed friendly and welcoming as well. It truly seemed like one big happy family there.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Wonderful!

Great secluded tent camping (recomend numbers 7 and 8), cabins are new and ample beds and space. Camper camping is close to everything, but less privacy. Numerous pavilions that are wonderful for parties or weddings. Stunning overlook that is breathtaking (also great for weddings). Hiking, bike trails, fishing pond, playground, open fields for sports, much more!!! Great for photo shoots, weekend stress getaways etc. I live close by and visit a few times a month.

    Conesus Lake Campground

Camping with amenities, close to fun

This is your typical Mom and Pop family campground, there are rules to follow but they do not hinder on your experience. They have a well stocked camp store, boat rentals, golf cart rentals, an indoor heated pool, jump pad, playgrounds, a hiking trail and frisbee golf. The bottom portion of the campground has mostly seasonal campers and cabins. You do have to go up a pretty steep hill to get to the 'transient' camping section, but there are many pull through, level, full hook up sites to choose from. ( We had site 250 and really liked it) The bathrooms were toilet/shower combos and were very clean. Attractions close by is a drive-in with 4 different screens, many places to eat, parks ( Vitale Park was really nice), a fun center with mini golf, go carts, batting cages, laser tag and arcade. We also experienced the local flea market in Avon, NY. It's HUGE!

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Good Camping inside the Park

The campgrounds are conveniently located inside the Park so easy to get to the amazing falls towards the south as well as the dam in the north. We were in loop 300 which does not allow pets. Decent bathhouses right opposite our site. Our site was a gravel drive with a grassy area containing the picnic table and fire ring. Unfortunately due to rain the day before the grass was extremely muddy which make it hard to get to the fire ring. There was also white a lot of noise from adjacent sites, we could hear everyone's conversations and screaming kids. There was a laundry facility but no dishwashing.

Guide to Brighton

Several cabin accommodations near Brighton, New York provide varying levels of comfort and wilderness immersion within the Finger Lakes region. The area's mixed hardwood forests sit at elevations between 400-1,000 feet above sea level, creating distinct seasonal camping experiences. Cabin temperatures can range from the 40s to 80s Fahrenheit from spring through fall, with significantly colder conditions during winter months when some facilities close.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill offers access to a stocked fishing pond where families can enjoy casual angling. "Fishing" is a popular activity according to Kelly H., and the park provides convenient access for beginning anglers without requiring a boat.

Hiking trail networks: At Webster Park, visitors can explore wooded trails that connect directly to campsites. Scott C. notes, "There is hiking in the park, lots of nice woods, big field for playing games/sports." The trail system offers options for various skill levels with routes through both forests and open areas.

Erie Canal exploration: Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort provides direct canal access with Rachel T. highlighting, "Kayak launches and boat marina nearby." Guests can paddle on the historic waterway or cycle the adjacent towpath for a unique perspective on this engineering landmark.

What campers like

Private wooded sites: Webster Park offers secluded cabin spaces that provide a sense of seclusion. Joseph W. shared, "There was good separation between the campsites and the bathrooms and showers were clean. Wasn't too far from a park along Ontario." This privacy is particularly valued during peak summer months.

Family-friendly entertainment: Canandaigua-Rochester KOA focuses on activities for children with Jenise P. noting, "I counted 12 species of birds this morning," showing the natural attractions alongside structured activities. The campground maintains organized programming throughout the season.

Cabin construction quality: Timberline Lake Park provides well-built cabin options that balance comfort with affordability. Mariah G. states, "This is a great spot! It's really quiet and you can really feel like you're getting away out here." The cabins feature solid construction that holds up well in varying weather conditions.

What you should know

Seasonal operation schedules: Most cabin rentals near Brighton operate on limited schedules. Webster Park runs from May 1st to October 31st according to Scott C., who mentions, "They allow reservations online on the monroe county parks website, and are open May 1st to October 31st." This seasonal limitation affects availability.

Cabin amenity variations: Facilities differ significantly between locations. At Letchworth State Park Campground, Shari G. explains, "The bathrooms are practically luxurious by most camping standards, with single-use restroom/showers available at all hours," while other locations have more basic facilities.

Technology limitations: Cell service and internet access vary by location. Carl C. reports about Webster Park: "Cell phone coverage is poor by Verizon and T-Mobile, and there is no WiFi, and no camp store (but the town of Webster is nearby)." This affects visitors' ability to stay connected.

Tips for camping with families

Playground accessibility: Webster Park's layout prioritizes child safety with Scott C. explaining, "We stay close to the playground these days in our pop up usually at site 5 so our 5 and 9 year old can walk or ride to campground." Strategic site selection enhances the family experience.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Ontario County Park provides excellent wildlife encounters for children. Sarah C. shares, "Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours," creating natural educational opportunities without leaving your campsite.

Budget-friendly cabin options: Stay Bristol Woodlands offers economical cabin rentals with comprehensive amenities. Donald R. notes, "We have been staying at this Jewel of a campground for years. The new owners have brought this place to a new level Great amenities, real Wi-Fi and a great pool." These cabins provide good value while maintaining comfort.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling considerations: Ontario County Park requires preparation for uneven terrain. Jonathan G. advises, "Make sure to bring plenty of leveling blocks as some sites are far from level." This affects both RV setup and cabin positioning at some locations.

Utility hook-up placement: At Canandaigua-Rochester KOA, Greg S. mentions, "We lucked out with a nice private site in the back. The sites here for the most part are lacking in privacy." Utility placement can determine privacy levels at many locations, requiring strategic booking.

Access road navigation: Red's Twilight on the Erie enforces strict speed limits throughout the property. Rachel T. explains, "The speed limit is 5 MPH and they mean it... Kids on bikes and having a good time." These access restrictions protect pedestrians but require patience when arriving and departing.
