Best RV Parks & Resorts near Alfred Station, NY

Several RV parks near Alfred Station accommodate motorhomes with varying amenities and hookup options. Maple Lane RV Park in Cuba operates from April through October with full hookups including 50-amp service, water, and sewer connections at their pull-through sites. Finger Lakes RV Resort in Hector features spacious pull-through RV pads with 50-amp electrical hookups, sewer connections, and a dump station on premises. Misty Mountain RV Park provides big rig spots with 50-amp service and sewer hookups. Letchworth State Park Campground, located approximately 30 miles from Alfred Station, offers RV sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service. "Only drag is the mixed rv and tent sites," noted one camper about Letchworth.

Seasonal considerations affect availability across the region with most parks operating from spring through fall. Letchworth State Park Campground operates from May through mid-October with limited winter camping options. Cell service varies significantly between locations, with one reviewer noting that Flint Creek Campgrounds has virtually no coverage: "don't expect any cell phone service. I've had friends who climbed up on top of their RV and still, no signal." Many parks require advance reservations, particularly during summer weekends and fall foliage season. Site leveling can be challenging at some locations, as one visitor to Ontario County Park mentioned: "make sure to bring plenty of leveling blocks as some sites are far from level." Most parks in the area accommodate pets and provide trash collection services.

    Finger Lakes RV Resort

Beautiful new spacious RV resort in excellent location.

We arrived on Saturday, 10.8.22 and are staying for a week. This is a delightful location. Rachel and Doug are cheerful, attentive, and very personable owners who are on-site at almost all times. This park just opened this year, so we checked in at an entrance building that they're using until their primary building is complete. We were greeted with delicious cookies, our site(#9) backs up to a wooded area(with a hiking path buried in there) with a lot of space. We booked early, which was a good thing because they were 100% full for Indigenous People's Day. We chose this site because there was a lot of room around it and we're used to really tightly packed RV parks. But what we found is that all of the sites are very nicely spread out with generous spacing, so that's not an issue. It's still nice to be on the outskirts. We also chose this section per a review we read to be away from the main road noise, but there really isn't much road noise to worry about, anyway. The WiFi is strong and consistent. We're using 30amps, but they also have 20 and 50amp service to each site. The water pressure is great. The bath house is new and very comfortable. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring and lots of room for big rigs. We watched Doug neaten up sites after other RV's vacated, which shows an attention to detail we don't often find. They also drive by each site every morning to collect trash and recycling. The sunsets are spectacular over the lake(we can't see the lake from here, but it's close). There are numerous award-winning wineries surrounding us and up and down the lake. We're headed out for tastings today. We've been hiking the last few days- Watkins Glen State Park- Gorge Trail(go early or it gets REALLY crowded), Taughannock State Park- Gorge& North Ridge Trail over on Cayuga Lake, and a concert(Rufus Wainwright) at Point of the Bluff Winery over on Keuka Lake. We stopped afterward for dinner in Hammondsport at Timber Stone Grill which was truly wonderful. That's about 35- 45 minutes away. Lots more hiking trails to do in the National Forest and surrounding areas. And there's Watkins Glen, a charming town just minutes away. We highly recommend Finger Lakes RV Resort and we'll be back!

    Ferenbaugh Campground

    Relaxing place to stay

This CG has two distinct sections. Near the entrance is the Pull Through Area. Behind a row of trees there are several sites with full hookups including cable TV and Wi-Fi. The sites are open, reasonably level, and a good size. The other sites are in the woods, most of these sites do not have sewer connections. There is a honey wagon service available. We camped with a relative who was new and we were teaching them how to operate their camper. We had a couple of dry days then some rain. Still was a great teaching/learning experience.

Make sure you use a water filter, there was a lot of sediment in the water when we were there. See pictures of 4 days on a new cartridge.

We had a fantastic sunrise one morning.

    Watkins Glen State Park Campground

Watkins Glen State Park, New York

Campers arriving at Watkins Glen State Park are immediately captivated by its dramatic gorge scenery, where 19 waterfalls cascade through narrow stone walls. Their campsites are nestled among hardwood forests, offering a perfect balance of sunlit clearings and shady retreats. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, making it easy to prepare meals after a day spent exploring the park’s famous Gorge Trail. The park’s facilities blend rustic charm with modern comforts: clean flush toilets, hot-water showers, and convenient potable water stations. Hiking enthusiasts appreciate the interconnected trail system, which includes the popular Rim Trail for elevated views of the gorge, as well as more secluded footpaths through hemlock groves. Families particularly enjoy the nearby swimming pool and easy-access picnic areas overlooking Seneca Lake. To simplify travel logistics for out-of-state visitors, many campers opt to pre-book an airport transfer so they can arrive at Ithaca or Elmira–Corning Regional Airport and head straight to the park without the hassle of car rentals. Those planning to explore multiple stops along the Finger Lakes often choose the provider’s reliable city-to-city rides for comfortable, door-to-door transportation between destinations. All in all, Watkins Glen State Park delivers an unforgettable combination of awe-inspiring gorge hikes, well-appointed campsites, and family-friendly amenities. Campers seeking both adventure and relaxation will find this New York treasure hard to surpass.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

    Leonard Harrison State Park Campground

Site 17 Site maps can be deceptive

General: This is a small 28-site campground located on the east rim of the canyon; seven of the sites are electric and six of them are pet-friendly. We reserved site 17 after looking at the site map because it looked like there was a generous amount of separation between this site and the surrounding ones, however, upon arrival, this was not the case. Although some of the sites are generous in size, there is no physical separation between them. Site 1 would, in my opinion, be the best of the non-electric sites for privacy. Sites 6 and 8, while close to the bathhouse, would likely have people walking through your site to get to the bathhouse. Campers have worn a path between these sites to access it. Props to this park for having recycling bins for plastic, glass, and aluminum. While this park is open year-round, the campground is only open from the second Friday in April through the third weekend in October.

Site Quality: The parking pad is delineated by rocks but not very clearly defined. There is a generously sized picnic table and fire ring to complete the grassy site.

Bathhouse: Very clean (we have found most Pennsylvania state parks excel in their bathhouse cleanliness). Hot water (definitely appreciated on this cold weekend!) and one handicap accessible shower (but it was too cold while we were there to want to take a shower although it did look inviting).

Activities: Two hiking trails on the east rim where the campground is located. The Turkey Path was closed about ¾ mile down (by the waterfall) due to storm damage. Although the trail was clearly marked closed at this point, many chose to ignore it and continue on☹. This trail is challenging as it has steep switchbacks down and back up again and it is narrow and slippery but definitely worth doing. The Overlook Trail, while not long (less than a mile), is also challenging with down and uphills. If you don’t want to (or can’t) access these trails, there is an observation platform where you can enjoy great views of the canyon. All of these trails are accessible from the campground. There is also a long multi-use trail for hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. There is a nice playground accessible from the campground.

Conclusion: We were here the last weekend the campground was open and while the fall foliage was not experiencing the best year, it was still very beautiful at this park, and we enjoyed the hikes.

Jellystone Park™ of Western New York

Camping resort in the middle of nowhere

There was a great WiFi connection, so it was difficult to get my boys to go explore! We have a 35 foot travel trailer and had zero difficulty backing into a W/E spot. Gravel pads, decent space between RVs. We did need our extra hose to reach our spigot but I think that was unusual. The dump station was easy to get to and clean when we left.

Playgrounds, beach, mini-golf, dog park, bounce pillow, basketball, volleyball, movie nights, wagon rides twice a day with Jellystone characters, lots of daily activities, water park, kayaks, SUP’s, canoes, LIFEGUARDS!... ALL INCLUDED. My kids did mini-golf 4 times. Snack bar (with good wings and delivers!). Golf cart rentals. What was I most impressed with? Trash pickup. You put it in front of your site, somebody picked it up. Any time of day.

There were three types of cabins I saw, but didn’t go inside. You could fish in the pond. The website says Laser Tag but we didn’t explore that far. The town is teeny tiny so no good grocery store around. The grounds were well kept. Niagara Falls were a little more than an hour away. Great day trip!

We we will come back next year and bring our cousins!

    Keuka Lake State Park Campground

    Wonderful Finger Lakes Camping

Large grassy sites with privacy between the sites. Most sites have a good level gravel pad to park on.

We stayed in the non-electric loop with a small travel trailer, but there are electric sites available. Spigots for water are spaced well enough that with a few lengths you can fill up.

The hike to the beach wasn't too bad through the woods, with ones being a grassy walking path and the other being a dirt trail through the woods. The beach is typically crowded.

This is a place I would always recommend.

Guide to Alfred Station

Alfred Station, New York features rolling hills and valley terrain with elevations ranging from 1,600 to 2,000 feet above sea level. The region experiences four distinct seasons with camping typically concentrated between late April and mid-October. Winter temperatures can drop below freezing, making most rv campgrounds near Alfred Station, New York seasonal operations.

What to do

Hiking at Letchworth State Park: Located about 30 miles from Alfred Station, Letchworth offers numerous trails through what locals call the "Grand Canyon of the East." "The gorge is spectacular. Try to get to the balloon fest on Memorial Day - and book a flight if you can. Voted Best State Park in the USA," shares Rebecca E. about Letchworth State Park Campground.

Winery visits: The Finger Lakes region provides easy access to local wineries. At Finger Lakes RV Resort, "Easy drive to Watkins Glen, Lake Seneca, Ithaca, and the greater Finger Lakes region... Walking paths from the campground to two different wineries," notes Matt S.

Water recreation: Jones Pond offers fishing opportunities with "plenty of catfish" according to Madison W. "These sites are great for camping, kayaking, fishing... and watching loons, herons, and bald eagles."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently praise the cleanliness of facilities. "Everything is in great condition and clean. Daily trash and recycling pick-up from each site," reports Matt S. about Finger Lakes RV Resort.

Family amenities: Jellystone Park of Western New York offers extensive activities for families. "It's like a water park meets campground. Games areas, activities galore," says Erin H., while Sara H. adds, "Put put was free. So many things to do with the kids. Heated pools. Beach was clean."

Natural beauty: The region's landscape draws consistent praise. "The park itself is fantastic. The campsites are in two main areas of the park and further broken down into many different loops. The loops near the Lower Falls are our favorites," notes Harry H. about Letchworth State Park.

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most campgrounds in the area operate seasonally. Hickory Hill Camping Resort offers 222 sites but like most campgrounds in the region, operates primarily during warmer months.

Variable cell service: Cell coverage can vary significantly between locations. Madison W. notes that Jones Pond Campground's location is "pretty secluded," which can affect connectivity.

Reservation requirements: Popular campgrounds fill quickly, especially during peak seasons. "This is a popular park so make reservations," advises Amber A. about Letchworth State Park.

Site conditions: Some sites may require leveling equipment. At Letchworth, Jeff A. notes sites are "nicely spaced and level," but this varies between campgrounds and specific sites.

Tips for camping with families

Look for dedicated activity areas: Summer Haven provides fire rings for evening entertainment. "Had we been staying for more than one night, or arrived earlier we would have loved to utilize their fire ring!" shares Larry.

Consider campgrounds with built-in entertainment: Hickory Hill Camping Resort offers "multiple pools, a sprayground, mini golf, crafts, clean bathrooms and dog stations throughout the grounds," according to Amy T., who adds "everything is included in your site fee."

Plan for varied weather: Weather in the region can change quickly. At Letchworth, Jeff A. noted "very lush green from all the rain," highlighting the importance of preparing for precipitation even during summer months.

Tips from RVers

Check electrical specifications: Different RV campgrounds near Alfred Station provide varied electrical options. At Summer Haven, Larry notes, "The owners description noted a 50 amp hookup which was available, but 30 amp was not. They did have a 120v surge protector on site."

Consider site accessibility: Some areas require high-clearance vehicles. "You will need a high clearance vehicle to access site 3-6 due to a rough, poorly maintained jeep road," warns Madison W. about Jones Pond.

Look for pull-through availability: For easier parking, seek campgrounds with pull-through sites. At Jellystone Park, they "added a new section of premium sites (pull-thru and back-in)," which Amy T. notes makes setup easier for larger rigs.

Verify dump station locations: Not all campgrounds offer on-site dump stations. Craig F. mentions that Finger Lakes RV Resort provides "great wifi and water pressure, along with level sites," which are important amenities for RVers.
