Best RV Parks & Resorts near Edison, NJ

Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City provides 90 sites with water and electric hookups across a parking lot-style setup with limited spacing between RVs. Located near the Statue of Liberty with Manhattan views, this utility-focused park maintains 30- and 50-amp connections but lacks sewer hookups at individual sites. "This is basically a gravel parking lot, with water and electricity. There is a dump station, but not the easiest to use," noted one camper about the practical limitations. Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold Township offers more spacious wooded sites with 30-amp electric service, water hookups, and a sanitary dump station for RVs under 40 feet. Indian Rock RV Resort in Jackson features 99 full-hookup sites including 30- and 50-amp electric options on relatively level terrain with fire rings and picnic tables.

Most RV parks within 30 miles of Edison remain open from April through mid-November, with only a few offering year-round access. Dump stations at Liberty Harbor and Turkey Swamp receive mixed reviews for accessibility, with one visitor noting, "You may need 100 feet of water hose at Turkey Swamp as you share a spigot with another site." Pet policies vary significantly between facilities—most welcome leashed pets, though NJ National Guard facilities prohibit pets entirely. Big rig owners should carefully research access routes, particularly around Liberty Harbor where construction and narrow city streets can create challenging navigation. Reservation requirements increase substantially during summer weekends and fall foliage seasons, with Liberty Harbor commanding premium rates ($100+ nightly) due to its proximity to NYC transit options.

    Adventure Bound Camping (Tall Pines)

    Deceiving Website

We stayed at Adventure Bound Tall Pines in Elmer, New Jersey, for Memorial Day weekend for a quick getaway. Despite reserving and paying for a“Premium” site, it fell far short. But there were still a few things we liked…

    THINGS I LIKED:

    1. Super-friendly staff, especially Allie, who was courteous and seemed to try to make things right

    2. Lots of mature shade trees

    3. DJ at the pool Saturday and Sunday and live band Saturday evening

    4. Close proximity to Delsea Drive-in Theatre and Cohenzick Zoo

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH:

    1. I reserved and paid-in-full for a premium site which listed 50-amp service and a concrete pad. Nope. Only 30-amp service and no concrete pad. When I called the office, assuming there must’ve been a mistake, I was told by two different staff members that their website is“wonky.” I wouldn’t mind as much, but this weekend was 90-degrees each day and humid, so it would’ve been good to have air conditioning.

    2. The entire park was dirty sand with weeds growing everywhere

    3. This place is not big-rig friendly, difficult to navigate some of the turns in our 45’ motorhome and taking scratches from tree branches that should be trimmed

    4. I paid$432 for 3-nights and feel like I was taken

    WOULD WE COME BACK?

Nope. I’m sticking with campgrounds that give you what you paid for.

    Kymers Camping Resort

Fun, friendly & nestled in the woods

We stayed at Kymer's on a whim for a weekend, so we could be close to Mountain Creek for a Spartan Race. It truly exceeded our expectations in all aspects. This is a family friendly, camper-friendly place. Lots of seasonals- everyone waves, everyone stops to chat. This is what a campground should feel like. The sound of laughter and play sitting around the huge, clean pool was refreshing. Our site was Oak 10. It was level, good placement of electric water & sewer connects. Camp store has all the basics you might need. There is a brook that flows adjacent to the property. It's peaceful & magical. Pet friendly, although we didn't have our pup with us. We will be back again. I almost feel like I'm revealing a hidden gem with this post. 💎

    Colonial Woods Family Resort

    Not big rig friendly.

Ok so let me start off by saying. If we still had our smaller travel trailer this review would’ve been at least 4 stars. However this place is not the place for you if you have a fifth wheel. The roads are very narrow, pretty sizable boulders on both sides, trees are very low and need to be trimmed (almost took my ac out with a huge limb). Now if you’re not big rig camping like we do, this place is great for you. Close to the ringing rocks and three other towns. We were able to do so much even though it rained the entire weekend we were there.

    Tohickon Family Campground

    Great But...

Its a great campGround But There are some cons. Don't come if your in a tent And It Has Been ior will rain, It Becomes Flooded or turns into A mudPit. All The Private or Good spots are usually taken By seasonals But the other spots are decent if you Have A Big rig it can Be A little squish.

Pros Great People beautiful surroundings Nice Bathrooms Quiet and Peaceful Accessible Nice Pool Every store U could Need is in about 15 mins Away Not Alot of Stupid rules just Be respectful Pet friendly

I Been coming Here for years Never Had A Bad Time.

    Mahlon Dickerson Reservation

    Nice, small, spacious campground

We stayed at site 15 for 5 days. The sites are nicely wooded, very well spaced, fairly level with 50A service and water hookup. Although the water spigots were shared between sites, they provide hose caddies that should reach most RV hookups. No sewer hookup, but there is a convenient dump station. There are no fire rings in the RV section, only raised grills. We had the place pretty much to ourselves during the week, but the weekend did get busy. AT&T had ok data connection with 1-2 bars most of the time. There is no satellite coverage due to the heavy tree canopy. OTA TV was very inconsistent using an external omni antenna. There is no WiFi. There is a very nice network of trails in the reservation, most if not all were leashed dog friendly. There is a very nice restaurant, Stone Water, less than 10 miles away and is right on lake Hopatcong.

    Panther Lake Camping Resort

    Stayed all summer

We stayed at Panther Lake as full timers all season. Great during the week but very busy on weekends. Could be noisy with children not very well supervised.
Friendly, helpful staff. Cable TV poor when it rains. Cell service spotty all carriers. No internet at sites. Lake beautiful and pool nice.

    Turkey Swamp Park

    Quiet Woodland Campground

Turkey Swamp Park is a great find! Heavily wooded and supremely quiet, it’s located not far from anywhere you’d want to be. 30 minutes to the shore. Every site is a pull-through, large and spacious with great woodland views. 30amp and water. Dump station.

The park has miles of shady forested trails for hiking and dog walking. there’s a large lake here too, for water based recreational activities.

The bathrooms, showers, and laundry are co-located in a centrally situated structure. Everything inside is clean and well-maintained.

We’ve got good cell signal with Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. (We use all three.) Good OTA television signal also.

We spent three days here in July 2021.

Military Park NJ National Guard Training Center RV Sites

    Quiet, spacious, no frills

We stayed in site #1 with our 21' travel trailer. In our opinion this is the best site because you have an unobstructed view of Stockton Lake & the horizon over the ocean. Big rig spots are further back (around site 6-9 or so). 9 sites total & they are often booked, so need to do so in advance. Free beach just a few moments' walk down the road. Close to shore towns & many restaurants. Plenty of space for kids to play in the field/grass area. TONS of geese everywhere though. Pets are NOT allowed (but they'd probably help w the geese problem). You get access to the showers with a key card and when you check in, but I don't have anything to report as I used the bathroom/shower in our trailer. Price is great at $45/night. FULL hookups as well. Only annoying thing was the sewer hookup is about 18 inches off the ground so you need to lift the hose when emptying the tanks to ensure it actually fully drains.

Guide to Edison

Sites at Turkey Swamp Park feature pull-through driveways on level ground with water and electric hookups for campers under 40 feet. The park's dirt roads can become challenging in wet weather, though they remain well-maintained during dry periods.

What to do

Lake activities at Turkey Swamp Park: The 64-site campground offers fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boating on its scenic lake. "There is a lake with a boat dock and a small boardwalk. Kayaking/Canoeing, fishing, and swimming. In the summer, canoe, kayak, paddle boats, and row boats are available for rental," notes Lee D. at Turkey Swamp Park.

Archery range access: Turkey Swamp Park maintains an archery range for visitors looking for alternative recreation. "Plenty to do over a 2 night stay. Archery, boating, fishing, and hiking. Boat rental rates are acceptable and there are four different styles to choose from," reports Dan W.

Hiking trail exploration: Mahlon Dickerson Reservation offers numerous hiking trails through wooded terrain. "We always hike to the lake here, it's a very easy hike and also very peaceful," shares Paulene-Amanda M. at Mahlon Dickerson Reservation.

What campers like

Site spacing and privacy: Many campers appreciate Turkey Swamp's generous site sizes. "Sites are in the woods and widely spaced apart to give you privacy and the feeling of being out in the Forrest," says Katheryn N. at Turkey Swamp Park.

Campground cleanliness: Facilities at most Edison-area rv parks receive positive reviews for maintenance. "Very clean and quiet. Website lists water hook ups at long distances but they have hose reels to help with that," reports one camper at Mahlon Dickerson.

Laundry facilities: Several campgrounds offer on-site laundry options. "The bath house has on male and one female stall each. Laundry facilities are free for use and in like new condition," notes Jeffrey at NWS Earle RV Park.

What you should know

Water connection challenges: At several rv parks Edison, New Jersey campers report water hookup positioning issues. "You may need extra hose because the water spigot is a distance from the electric. Sites are level and well maintained," advises Jean T.

Limited shower amenities: Some campgrounds have minimal shower facilities. "There was only 1 bathroom with small shower for all guests, however they are in the process of adding 5 more," reports arlene S. at Skyline RV Camp - Non-Waterfront.

Tick awareness: Wooded sites can present pest issues in warmer months. "By the 2nd day I had 3 ticks on me. My dog had one and by the end my husband had 2. That was so crazy because we were just sitting by our camper," warns Laura Y.

Military campground restrictions: Military-affiliated campgrounds have specific rules. "Even though the published rules state no long term leases there are a couple of trailers that haven't seen the road in some time," mentions Jeffrey about NWS Earle RV Park.
