Campers can wade in the creek, or fish Spring Creek Campground can only accommodate a maximum trailer length of 35 feet, and is not recommended for campers with large RVs. The campground is usually open from May through the middle of fall.An ATV trailhead in the campground connects to a non-motorized trail with sweeping views of the surrounding mountain ranges.All campgrounds on the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest are first-come, first-served. Reservations are not available. Camping is limited to 16 consecutive days in one location. A campground fee is required. Please pay at the self-serve campground fee station. Jumping Creek Campground sits at an elevation of 5800 feet along US Highway 89 in the Little Belt Mountains 22 miles north of White Sulphur Springs. The 10 campsites are along Sheep Creek, which offers opportunity for fishing for brook and rainbow trout. The campground has multiple slots which can accommodate long trailers, up to a maximum length of 45 feet. Jumping Creek Campground is usually open late May through October. Nearby historic logging roads provide motorized access to the Smoky Mountain area. To the east on US Highway 89 is the trailhead to a scenic ATV trail which climbs Mizpah Peak. Hellgate Campground is located 30 miles east of Helena, Montana, along Montana Highway 284.__ In July of 1805 the Lewis and Clark Expedition traveled through the Canyon Ferry area exploring and mapping the Missouri River. When Lewis visited the area he described it as a beautiful and extensive plain country of about 10 to 12 miles wide which extended upwards further than an eye could see. In the 1850s the gold rush hit the Canyon Ferry area attracting miners from all over the United States in the hopes of striking it rich.__

We were looking for an easy dispersed site to stay at while visiting a friend in Bozeman. This was an easy option for us with a 20ft camper. We stayed at the first pull off a few minutes off the main road. This site was easily accessible, right off the main road, close to town and close to some hikes.
This place seemed promising at first. It was hard to find a decent spot at night due to only using headlights of my van. Most of the road is extremely rugged/uneven/full of large holes. The only place I was able to stay for the night was the road leading up to the locked gate. This is about the only nice spot. Other than that this place is • quiet w/occasional traffic along the high way (right next to reservoir) • very few people here, but far enough away from me • no fee required • provides OK view to the mountains • great when you bring along a pet • you will need to be fully prepared for primitive camping

We loved this place! Only downside is it’s a bit far from anything like grocery stores or gas. Plenty of spots to camp - the first loop doesn’t have a pit toilet but the second and third loop do. Most spots had fire pits and tables. We swam in the water and it was nice. Rocky beach. Service was good for us to work remote. We have Verizon and T-Mobile.
I felt so secluded here on a Sunday night. Beautiful area. Appreciated the reviews on here to find a good free place to spend the night.
Stayed here twice in early August about a week apart. Any car should be able to get down the road to the campsites. A bit buggy but free. Pit toilet available.
Maybe one acceptable loop, perhaps mostly for boaters. But there are 3 other loops: nothing is labeled, so good luck in finding your spot. The Manager site is not labeled either, and she was of no help. Dry, hard ground, no trees, nothing that might make a visit enjoyable. No drinking water; arid, depressing; i kept waiting for the undead to come over the horizon.

This is an amazing camp spot that is almost almost to the top of the trail to fairy Lake campground. There’s an established firing, and there’s room for multiple vehicles.
We were passing through and needed a place to camp. We were surprised how well kept and beautiful the campground is! The host was amazing and works really hard to keep the sites in tip top shape. The lake is right against the sites and makes for a beautiful place to stay.
This was an ok stay outside of Bozeman. The coordinates took me to a spot which was occupied but looked like the only spot on that stretch of road. It began to get extremely rutted and I didn’t want to push any farther after that spot. I camped in what looked to be a dispersed campsite that they closed off
Lots of open space and locations to pull out--beautiful views as well! To access this place we went towards Copper City Trail Head, and drove by the entrance onto BLM lands. Also, note that this place seems common for mountain bikers and trail bikers, so you'll likely run into a few of those. Also also, this place is DRY--so be sure to bring your own water (but on the plus side, no bugs!!)

Gorgeous campsite only 20ish min from the outskirts of Bozeman. Stopped in for 1 night passing through on a bigger road trip and couldn’t be luckier with this location. Fire rings at all campsites. Very quite road. Level ground for car camping. Would 100% come back just for this gem.

Love the spot, not many people, picnic tables/fire pits at each pull through spot. Pit toilet was locked. The mosquitoes were absolutely blood thirsty and aggressive and after multiple reapplications of bug spray we had to call it quits. The fire barely kept them at bay, but we still got a few bites sitting next to the heat.
Pulled in around 10 to find a couple 5th wheels in a circle and a few vans dispersed, only one sketchy motor home but quiet night. We stayed in the camper all night as the mosquitos were the worse I’ve ever seen at all hours.
Great spot right on parts of the trial! It’s open and you can see miles in each direction. No shade, no bathrooms, but most have man made fire pits.
There’s signs about limiting the stay to 14 days, but there clearly are people who have been here much longer than that. Way too crowded.
Quiet and almost empty Wednesday/Thursday but not only full weekend 100am wakeup call from a ski boat with a deafening sound system.[The other side of the lake]
The access to the lake was between other campsites but it was too steep for my wife. Site 61 was a tight squeeze at 33' because of an incline at the rear of 2'. Excellent sunsets and moonrises with plenty of room between the sites. No shade at sites but some trees/shrubs on the shoreline.
You can not stake anything down here. It's all sand. No cover from wind. Does have a vault toilet. Could see how to could very crowded in summer.
Was able to get a spot right on the water late on a Saturday night. Quiet, fire rings tables and restrooms. Not much to complain about.
Cottonwood Reseravoir DNRC land section. accessible for overnight camping under DNRC rules. The reservoir has Yellowstone cutthroat trout and white suckers. No wifi, no trash, no bathrooms. Completely wild. Stars at night amazing. All kinds of waterfowl passing seasonal. No amenities.
LOVED this cabin. It was very accessible, with an easy road. You can drive right up to the cabin. There are two wood stoves, one in the sleeping area with two bunks. It got VERY toasty in there with the fire going (but with two adults and two large dogs shoved all on one bed together, what can you expect?) there was plenty of wood, the fire pit was perfect, and the area beautiful. 10/10

The lake is right at the rear of your camper. Sites are extremely close together and only electric hookup. No sewer or water hook up. Must already have water or get it at the dump station at the entrance. You must use a bucket or jug for water at the campsites as the rangers no longer provide adapters for the hydrants. Not good as a little maintenance could fix any issues.
What a great little park just off the highway! Everything was well maintained and the vault toilet was cleaned and stocked. It was really quiet with a few local families camping and the maintenance guy came through around 8am checking on the park.
We’re 52’ overall with the truck and a 30’ bumper pull toyhauler and had no issues. There are 2 maybe 3 spots that could accommodate us no problem and probably up to a 35’ camper. The road in is short but a little rough; just take it slow and you’ll have no problems!
