Amusement park access: Worlds of Fun Village provides discounted theme park tickets for campers. "The theme park offered discounted tickets when staying at the campground and parking for the parks was included. Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun are internally connected, making it easy to walk between the two," explains John L.
Historic attractions: Independence has several historic sites within walking distance of camping areas. "Independence has some cool stuff to check out and has a very midwestern, small-town feel to it... The Truman Library, the Community of Christ Church, the downtown theater and court house are all interesting and worth a look," mentions Shari G. about staying near local attractions.
What campers like
Swimming options: Lake Paradise Resort features a large swimming pool that receives positive reviews. "The pool is renovated and very nice. It is very large, zero entry, up to mostly around 5 ft deep with a small area that was 9ft; there is a children's area with a sprinkler," describes Julie B.
Concrete pads: Several campers appreciate the level concrete pads at Worlds of Fun Village. "All RV sites were concrete with 50/30/20 amp, water and sewer. Back-in sites on rows 1 and 3 and pull through sites on row 2," notes John L.

What you should know
Site spacing: Most campgrounds in the area feature closely spaced sites. "The sites are very close to each other. For the price to stay here, I would have liked a little more room/privacy," mentions Jayme J. about Walnut Grove RV Park.
Seasonal considerations: Some facilities close during off-season months. "Stopped here on our way south for spring break. The amusement park was not open yet, so the campground area was relatively quiet and the price for full hookups was not bad," notes Deb M. about visiting Worlds of Fun Village during shoulder season.
Airport noise: Several campgrounds experience aircraft noise. "The campground is on the final approach for the airport, so you get to see a lot planes flying overhead, which you don't even notice cause they are quieter than they used to be, and I think they shut down flights around 10pm," explains Brian A. about Basswood Country RV Resort.
Train noise: Some campgrounds experience railroad noise. "Only issue was trains blowing their horns during the night," reports Carolyn M. about Campus RV Park.
Tips for camping with families
Kid-friendly activities: Basswood Country RV Resort offers numerous activities for children. "This campground is a must for anyone with children. Awesome sites with full hook ups. Weekend entertainment: Some parks offer special weekend activities. "We went to a movie outside there and fireworks for Memorial Day weekend," reports Erica B. about Lake Paradise Resort's holiday programming.
Playground access: Multiple campgrounds feature playgrounds for children. "There is a pool, hot tub, laundry and clean bathrooms with showers. The campground did attempt to improve privacy with strategically placed trees and shrubs," notes John L. about the amenities at Worlds of Fun Village.
Tips from RVers
Site selection: Choose sites away from highways when possible. "Row 1 (sites 1-20) is along a busy highway with semi truck noise 24 hours a day. I recommend either paying more for the pull-through (further from the road) or the back in sites 69-82 in row 3," advises John L. about Worlds of Fun Village.
Urban camping considerations: Owl Creek Market and RV Park offers convenient overnight stays. "This was a great park for us to pull over and get off the freeway overnight we did it on our way to Kansas from MI and from Kansas to MI. The store was very nice and the staff there were friendly and accommodative," explains Rick & Kathy S.
Utility hookup length: Bring extra-long hoses and cords for some sites. "The utilities are at the far backside of the pad and based on our rig's configuration with the wet bay towards the front, we needed 25' or more of hose and electric cord," advises MickandKarla W. about certain sites.
