The Russellville area features several full-service RV parks within driving distance. Majestic Oaks RV Park & Campground in Eldon offers 80 sites with full hookups including water, sewer, and both 30 and 50-amp electrical connections, operating year-round. Sites at Cottonwoods RV Park in Columbia accommodate big rigs across its 83 spaces, with concrete pads that generally require minimal leveling. Our slide nearly went over the patio of the next site over."

Access roads to several parks present navigation challenges that RV drivers should prepare for. The approach to Cross Creek involves steep, rough terrain according to multiple reviews, with one visitor noting, "The road to get in and out of this place is absolutely ridiculous. You can try to go 1mph to avoid potholes or washed out area just to hit the next pothole." Most parks provide amenities like swimming pools, dump stations, and propane sales. Cell service varies throughout the region, with moderate Verizon coverage reported at Osage Beach RV Park. Pets are permitted at most facilities, though Cedar Creek Resort & RV Park maintains a no-pets policy. Clean restrooms and shower facilities are standard at the larger parks, and many offer cable TV hookups and WiFi access, though connection quality can fluctuate during busy periods.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground

Pretty camping area, lake was filthy and smelly

This was a pretty campsite with lots of trees and simple deer trails throughout. Sites are well spread out. The lake itself was filthy and smelly. Lots of trash and rotting fish on the shorelines. The campground website said they had WiFi throughout the campsite, however it was only available at the front office. No cell service. We had planned to stay for a week to school and work remotely, but had to cut our time here short because of no connectivity. If we hadn’t had the need for WiFi, this would have been a fine campground to stay at, as it is centrally located to many sightseeing locations.

Sties were level, kid and pet friendly, quiet campground, 30/50 amp electricity, no water hookups, firewood avail for fire pits, also had nice picnic tables. Inexpensive.

    Red Maples Community

    Good for a short stay.

Making reservations: We made reservations a few weeks in advance (glad we did). We received an email with the site and instructions, which included calling to make final payment. This one, like many private parks, has limited office hours. So, catching them while they were in the office took a few tries.

The park: That all said, the experience in the park was fine. Beautiful tree canopy covers the whole park, tiny playground for the kids at the back of the park, etc. There was plenty of space between sites for our tow vehicle and 37’ 5th wheel with 3 slide outs. Utilities were close (50/30/20, water, sewer). Pull through sites if nobody is slotted in front/behind (you pull through one site to get to the other). No branches in our way (we are 12’7” tall). This park is a combo of mobile homes, transient RVs and long term RVs.

Surrounding area: There is a gas station right up the road although it was too busy / small for us so we went back toward the main Highway where there are two big ones to choose from with plenty of space to turn. Seems to be the gateway to the Ozarks for gassing up, so plenty of space and stuff.

    Cottonwoods RV Park & Campground

    Very Nice Campground

Check-in was quick and easy and we proceeded to pull through site 83 with FHUs. The gravel pad was very long and we had plenty of room for our 40’ rig and F450. The utilities were in the middle of the pad and water pressure was decent at about 40 psi. As we were on the end of a row, we had a lot of front yard space. The sites here are very close together, but long-term guests kept their sites nice and well organized, and overall this CG was very clean. There are mature trees so satellite placement could be challenging. We were able to place our Starlink in the yard area for a good shot to the north sky. We got 4 bars on Verizon and their WiFi worked well for a campground of this size. At the office, they have a nice store and gift shop with one of the best selections of camping shirts etc. that we have seen.

    Osage Campground Retreat

    Full hookups but sketchy

Clean grounds, close to a conservation boat ramp and again full hookups. That’s about where it ends.

Most sites appear to be year-round Occupied. Fifth wheels with buried to sewer lines And people riding their lawn mowers outside their campers.

All things being equal it seems like more of a trailer park with a few camping vacancies.

Arrow Rock State Historic Site Campground — Arrow Rock State Historic Site

    Nice campsite during off season

Stayed two nights in early March in our RV. I knew the bathrooms would be locked and that the water would be off so had full fresh tank and jerry cans. There's a dump station on site so I didn't have to go home full too. Electric at the site was appreciated so we can run the furnace fan and water heater off it. I was not expecting to see no trashcans so I had to pack out. However, there were recycling bins.

I didn't see anyone selling firewood along the way so I scavenged for wood near the site. Not a big deal to find wood but it was wet and challenging to keep from smoking me out.

There were only a couple other campers and they were nice not to camp next to us. Felt like we were the only ones there. The best part of camping off season.

Walked the trail down to the river and appreciated the crushed rock trail. I didn't visit the nearby town, but will next time I visit.

The only negative was not being able to reserve and pay ahead of arrival, which means I have to bring exact cash. Who carries cash anymore?!

Site 37 is a premium site with 50 amp service for an additional cost. I didn't have enough cash to pay the premium site price and had already setup camp before realizing it. My RV has a 30 amp service and it was off season so I didn't feel too bad about paying the standard electric price.

Doolittle Acres RV Park and Campground

    Nice area

Good area only a mile off the highway so it made a great night stopping point. Had great access for our starlink. They have a little dog park, kids park, and it was all clean and well maintained. Easy access and some nice pull through spots. Water, sewer, and electric hook ups. Fire pit and picnic table at site. Since it’s close the highway it was a little loud with traffic. 57$ a night for premium spots, 42$ a night for non premium

    Turkey Creek RV Park

    Nice Campground! Nice and Quiet!

Turkey Creek was a very nice campground for our month long stay.  The park is well maintained and clean.  It is very quiet!  There is a train track nearby, but we only heard it a few times during our stay.

Amenities included full hook up, laundry room, bathrooms, showers and a fenced dog park where you 4 legged friends can enjoy some off-leash time.  We had 4 bars with AT&T and waffled between 1-3 bars with Verizon.

The location is great for visiting local attractions such as Branson Landing, Silver Dollar City and Top of the Rock.

Really appreciate the park manager, she was friendly and brought an overpayment to our attention and quickly issued a refund.

    Great experience overall!

Miniature golf: Play a round at Cross Creek RV Park which offers miniature golf, paddle boats, and an 8-acre stocked lake. "Campground sits on 70 acres and includes an 8 acre stocked lake. Boat rental, paddle boats, miniature golf, shuffleboard, volleyball, playground, hiking and a general store," says Sherry D.

Swimming opportunities: Multiple pools are available at Coconuts RV Resort where the tiered hillside layout offers scenic views. "The top had 2 pools, shower house, and restroom all new and very NICE! The lower pools are big with scenic views of the boats and lake front," reports Fred R.

What campers like

Lake views: Riveria Villas & RV Resort features lake-facing sites and a pool area on a bluff overlooking the water. "The pool area sits on top of a bluff overlooking the lake. It's absolutely beautiful. The pool area also has a very nice cabana, firepit, and bathrooms," writes TJ G.

Clean facilities: Osage Beach RV Park maintains well-kept restrooms and showers. "So nice and clean. The office staff was so pleasant as well as the guys that delivered firewood and ice and helped guide us into our spot," says David E., while another camper notes, "Very nice, full hookup gravel sites close to everything on the east side of Lake of the Ozarks."

Halloween events: Seasonal campers enjoy special activities at Majestic Oaks RV Park. "The events around halloween are always so fun for kids and adults alike. They truly put so much work into making it the best experience for their guests," says Hattie.

What you should know

Road conditions: Access to some campgrounds can be challenging for large RVs. Cross Creek RV Park has particularly difficult entrance roads. "Access to camping ground was little difficult. It was gravel road but it was very steep hill (very common in this area)," explains Martin J.

Site spacing: RV sites at many parks are positioned close together. At Cottonwoods RV Park, "The spaces were very close to each other. But the campers around us were very nice," reports Jessica B. Another camper adds, "The only negative thing I would say is the spaces were very close to each other."

Internet access: WiFi quality varies significantly between parks. At Osage Beach RV Park, campers report "excellent WiFi that had boosters all throughout the campground," making it suitable for remote work. Another guest noted, "This was a very nice, clean campground in the city of Osage Beach. We needed a campsite to be able to work and school remotely from and this fit the bill."

Tips for camping with families

Private island camping: Cross Creek RV Park offers a unique tent camping option. "We tent camped on the island for 2 nights. It was awesome, you can fish right off the bank of your own private island within minutes of waking up. Not as secluded as the other survivor tent site but really fantastic place," shares Barrett C.

Playgrounds and activities: Majestic Oaks RV Park & Campground offers facilities for children. "Nice park, hiking trails on site, spots are well maintained. Good amenities on site and very close to everything the Lake has to offer," writes Russ G. Another camper adds, "Great campground if you need full hook-ups. All the bells and whistles. Clean bathroom, laundry, pool, playground, dog run, hiking trails and firewood that you can actually burn."

Pet restrictions: Not all campgrounds welcome pets. Cedar Creek Resort & RV Park has a no-pets policy, which can affect family camping plans. Always check pet policies before booking if traveling with animals.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Cottonwoods RV Park offers concrete pads that require minimal leveling adjustments. "The gravel pad was very long and we had plenty of room for our 40' rig and F450. The utilities were in the middle of the pad and water pressure was decent at about 40 psi," shares MickandKarla W.

Construction awareness: When booking at newer RV sites near Russellville, Missouri, check construction status. Lake Ozarks RV Resort was still developing in 2023. "It is clearly still under construction, which I was not aware of. My guess is this was the first season it was open. Half of the park still had conex boxes and construction equipment around," reports TJ G.

Seasonal availability: Many RV parks in the area operate seasonally. Osage Beach RV Park runs from March 27 to November 1, while Cross Creek RV Park is open April 15 to November 1. Year-round options include Cottonwoods RV Park and Majestic Oaks RV Park.
