ScoutI had a horrible experience at this campsite. Rolled up to find one (miserable) couple there. They were blasting music out of their car which is whatever and I waved hello and they just stared. Multiple cars came thru the campsite at night, shining their headlights every which way. Even though it says don’t enter past a certain point unless you are camping, this is clearly a spot for locals to do what they cannot do at home. At 2am I hear barking and one of my dogs busts through my tent. I go out there and there is a pack of wild dogs scouring the campsite. They weren’t terrifying or coming at us, but it was still scary. No more than 10 mins later two cars surround my tent with headlights, which is really scary for anyone, but I am a young woman traveling alone. Apparently the couple called the cops saying my dogs had been barking all night. There was brief barking and it was the wild dogs who were actually eating the trash the evil couple left out. Even if my dogs were barking, why is surrounding my tent with only headlights at 2am appropriate? I couldn’t see anything. Never saw a ranger, immediately left in the morning. Sorry for the essay, just hope to spare someone a similar experience. It is beautiful tho.
GuideWe are only here for a few days during the week, but were assured that it would be packed on the weekends. Alot of locals come to use the lake, with a boat ramp right next to the campsites. The boys enjoyed swimming in the lake and riding their bikes around. The visitors center is worth a visit. 4/5 based on tons of dog poop, curbing of dogs is not enforced.
ScoutWe loved the park. Great for walking our dogs. The only issue was the poor road maintenance in getting to our campsite. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay tremendously and will definitely recommend to friends and family.

GuideThe campground in Jamie L. Whitten Historical Center is easy to find close to the highway. Staff at the entrance was very friendly and helpful. The site was PERFECT: level concrete pull-thru big enough for our 40' rig and Jeep, adorable picnic and firepit area overlooking the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway peeking through the beautiful trees. Hookups right where you needed them. And lots of beautifully maintained trails through the woods for walking our dogs. Two thumbs up!
GuideStayed for one night in an RV. Single female traveler with one dog. We hiked all the trails and they were well manicured and followed a frisbee golf course. They have full hookups and back in spots. I went in August and there were many vacancies. I stayed as a stop between destinations but could’ve easily made a trip out of the park itself. There were picnic tables, lots of trees, paved roads. I made reservations through reserve america. There was a camp host to answer questions .
LegendThis campground is on Sardis Lake, but is off the beaten path from everything else. The campground is old, but the sites are roomy. Some are shaded and some are in the sun.
There is a playground and a large open field in the middle for games, sports activities, dogs to run, etc.
The bathhouse isn’t the worst I have seen. It gets the job done, but the floor in the shower area seems to be falling apart.
GuideOff the beaten path. Power and water available for reasonable price. Walking the property was fantastic for us and our dogs. We were fortunate to be there on the last Saturday of the month, when they host a dinner and live music. With just 7 of us, including the 2 hosts and the musician, it was a very neat experience. Even had a “sing along “!!!! This is why we love Harvest Hosts. You would never get an experience like this anywhere else.
RangerSmall, quiet campground on reservoir. Plenty of space and privacy between sites. Concrete pad was level and ample. Any size rig could fit into these sites. Each site has its own garbage cans. Water and electric at each site. Dump station in campground. Verizon signal was good. Bathrooms had prison style toilets and showers were functional but dirty. Showers were in dire need of repair to floor and deep cleaning. Bathrooms were maintained daily but not adequately cleaned. No soap in bathroom, only air dryer for hands, no paper towels, no garbage can in bathrooms. There were unattended dogs on leashes/in crates at a couple of sites that barked aggressively when people passed by. Owners were absent for good part of day. Nearby lake access road passes right by campground is routinely used by locals. Not staffed by COE official.
