      Memphis KOA

      West Memphis KOA

Small but clean. Very friendly staff. There are plenty of trees for shade. Nice pool, bathrooms and rec room. The laundry room is large and air conditioned. There is a dog park, horseshoes and cornhole. They offer daily breakfast and lunch and will deliver site made pizza to your camper. They also have a community garden.Very close to Memphis. The only downside is it has quite a bit of road traffic noise and a strange side road entrance.1

      Memphis KOA

      Just OK

Ok for a night. Easy 15 min drive to downtown Memphis for sightseeing. In a low lying area and it had rained earlier in the week. Campground very wet. Lots of puddles and muck. Should have used the gravel pile at the back of the campground to fill in potholes. Bathhouse clean but in a slight state of disrepair like loose toilets. Amenities included pool, playground, store, cafe, dog park, horseshoes, beanbag, ladder ball, bikes. Staff very nice.

Delta Heritage Trail State Park Campground

      Bring bug spray

This is a nice place. The staff is very knowledgeable and kind. Small place, mosquitoes were bad other than that it was great. we were invited to watch them feed the pet snake that was caught in the area. Will definitely camp there again. The site was $15 a night. We were on motorcycles so they let us drive them to the campsite otherwise they are a walk-in it's a really short walk.

      Village Creek State Park Campground

2 night stay at Village Creek

This place was ok, very small, however more than half the trails and park were closed due to flooding. Lots of construction in progress. There was no sewage hook ups (water electricity only), nearby dump station. Bathroom facilities were very clean. The two trails opened were nice. My kids brought there bikes and enjoyed the one bike trail. I was a little annoyed by the park staff. They came by at least 15 times each day, checking tags, checking fire pits, checking pets, etc. I get it, but it kind of ruins the whole experience when you are relaxing in your camper and see park personnel snooping around constantly. We saw them everywhere. We couldn’t even hike without seeing them. It just felt invasive.

Oak Grove (MS) — Sardis Lake

      Nice COE Campground

Mississippi does a great job of maintaining their COE campgrounds. Nice, spacious spots underneath large Pine trees. Water views and access to the Lower Lake. There is a popular swim beach, boat launch and boat dock. The spillway is also close by for fishing. Do not get this park confused with the John Kyle State Park Campground that is directly next to this one. This park is much nicer!

    Guide to Lake Cormorant

Camping opportunities near Lake Cormorant, Mississippi exist within the Mississippi Delta region, where elevations rarely exceed 300 feet above sea level. Winter temperatures typically range from 30-60°F, while summer months bring high humidity and temperatures consistently above 90°F. Most campgrounds in this area maintain open status year-round, though spring and fall provide more comfortable camping conditions.

    What to do

**Fishing access: ** At South Abutment Recreation Area, multiple sites offer direct water access for kayaking and fishing. "Camp is surrounded by industrial area. Play road entrance closed making for a high stress night entry from Memphis. Use W UseMitchell St entrance," notes Larry R., providing important navigation advice for newcomers.

Mississippi River watching: Visitors to Tom Sawyer's RV Park enjoy unique riverside camping with views of commercial traffic. "Beautiful park right on the Mississippi River, only problem is if the river is over its banks, then the campground is closed. We had to keep checking to see if the river was down, campground was cleaned up and open," explains Christine U., highlighting the importance of checking conditions before arrival.

Swimming options: During summer months, T.O. Fuller State Park offers an Olympic-sized swimming pool with reduced-price passes sometimes available to campers. "Rec'd reduced swim passes and the kids enjoyed the pool area," reports Es T., noting an additional recreational opportunity beyond standard camping amenities.

    What campers like

Riverside views: The Mississippi River provides a constantly changing backdrop at Tom Sawyer's RV Park. "Tugboats pushed barges against the current at a slower than walking pace. Trees with root balls intact floated downstream. The distant banks of the Tennessee side showed their sandy promontory," describes Greg S., capturing the dynamic river environment.

Lake access: Hernando Point offers water-adjacent sites with convenient access. "Sites are paved and full hookups at site. Nice view!" notes Anna D., highlighting the practical amenities combined with scenery.

Clean facilities: Many campgrounds maintain high cleanliness standards despite varying price points. "Cleanest bathhouse we saw in 2 weeks camping trip. Gotta compliment the cleaning crew, but they need fans in them to move the stagnant air," shares Es T. about T.O. Fuller State Park, providing insight into facility conditions.

    What you should know

Weather impacts: Flooding affects riverside camping opportunities seasonally. "We stayed at this park for one night because it was the mid-way point on our trip from Alabama to Arkansas... The drive in is a little eyebrow raising, you either take a long drive through a kind of run down neighborhood, or an industrial park," reports Nancy W. about her stay at T.O. Fuller State Park Campground, highlighting access considerations.

Environmental factors: Some campgrounds experience seasonal issues with insects and odors. "There's a smell due to the industrial zone right outside the park but, for a quick one night stay it ain't bad. We got a small spot, right next to the facilities which themselves, were okay. Planes go by regularly but didn't seem to be unbearably loud. The smell though..." notes Rebecca H., providing candid feedback about potential drawbacks.

Water pressure variations: RV campers should come prepared with regulators. "One little issue was that water pressure was over 50lbs! Glad i have a regulator!" advises Bryan A. from Sam's Town Tunica, highlighting an important equipment consideration for protecting RV plumbing systems.

    Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Memphis offers multiple play areas throughout the property. "This is a huge campground and the price for a spot was at least double what we would pay elsewhere (nearly $100)... Most of the amenities and services are located at the front of the campground and includes a store and propane, playground, dog run, pool, showers and laundry, gold mining station, and sports courts (basketball, Gaga ball, and basketball)," details Angela C.

Recreational equipment: Some parks offer rentals for additional entertainment. "They have pedal bikes you can rent (must have closed toed shoes), tetherball, a pavilion, a pond where you can feed the fish... I couldn't get over how clean this place was," shares Amy L. about Jellystone Park, noting activities beyond standard amenities.

Pet-friendly spaces: EZ Daze RV Park provides substantial pet exercise areas. "The Dog Run is a huge area. We experienced a problem with our Powerdog 50 EPO Surge protector getting an E1 and E2 code error from the pedestals," reports Andrew, showing that while pet accommodations are excellent, electrical issues occasionally occur.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection: At Dub Patton Campground, specific sites offer superior lake views. "I booked number 9. It was right on the lake, but shade was limited. The place is fairly clean, and there are clean bathrooms and showers," notes Wild Sage F., providing specific site recommendations.

Power management: Several campgrounds experience electrical fluctuations requiring protection devices. "I checked my Powerdog app and it showed 142.5 volts on line 2," reports Andrew at EZ Daze RV Park, demonstrating the importance of monitoring electrical systems when camping near Lake Cormorant.

Transportation considerations: Some casino campgrounds previously offered shuttle services that have been discontinued. "When I made the rez, it said they had shuttle service. When I called the front desk, they said they don't do shuttles anymore. I don't have a toad, so now stuck inside the RV," explains Bryan A., highlighting the importance of confirming amenities before arrival.
