Small but clean. Very friendly staff. There are plenty of trees for shade. Nice pool, bathrooms and rec room. The laundry room is large and air conditioned. There is a dog park, horseshoes and cornhole. They offer daily breakfast and lunch and will deliver site made pizza to your camper. They also have a community garden.Very close to Memphis. The only downside is it has quite a bit of road traffic noise and a strange side road entrance.1

    Good distance between campsites

Dark sky friendly except for sites near toilet/shower facilities where there is an actual street light

Climate controlled toilet/shower facility in campground B

Both campground B toilet/shower facilities very clean with ample supply of TP, soap and paper towels

Wood picnic table (on concrete pad), pedestal BBQ grill, metal fire ring with cooking grate and metal lantern hook

    Wide roadway in campground B

    Small playground

Access to lake swimming area from campground B

    Trash receptacles at toilet/shower facility

    Lots of deer

    Smaller Walmart in Wynne AR

Pops Grill in Wynne real good

    CONS

County burn ban in place upon arrival but no signage anywhere alerting of ban. We saw the Arkansas burn ban website and inquired upon checkin if it was enforced and park clerk affirmed ban but we saw many campers had a wood fire burning all the time. So without any signage we understand the confusion and noncompliance. Park should at least place burn ban signage at campground entrance.

    Site 57 unlevel side-to-side

    No cell service.

    No public phone in park.

Parks signage states WiFi at park visitor center could be used to make phone calls. We found this not true with our T-MOBILE service as we purposely went to the visitor center to make a WIFI call. There is WIFI at visitors center but only one bar and too weak to transmit a call. So if there is an emergency after visitor center is closed and you need to make a call, good luck, as there is no public phone nor any camp hosts. We drove approximately 8 miles towards Wynne to get sufficient cell signal to make calls and connect with internet.

Only free WiFi is at park visitor center. We purchased WiFi from park vendor Viasat $20 unlimited for 3 days for one device. Viasat delivered a good signal within 200 ft of toilet/shower facility so it was useless in our campsite#57. Don’t waste your money! Sewer connection at rear of site pad so bring the looooong stinky slinky!

    Pets not kept on leash

    No security gate closure overnight

    Beautiful Park - Friendly Staff

I called ahead and arrived after hours. It was as easy as it gets. They said to just pick an open site and register in the am. I had a lake front site, with a nice fire pit and picnic table and grill setup.

The next morning I registered / paid $44.00 for the night. Super friendly staff. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We enjoyed staying so close to the water. We fished right from the bank (must have a MS license). The water, electric, and sewer hook-ups are very close to the site. The picnic, grilling, and fire pit area is nice. The parking area is only wide enough fir the camper. It would be nice to have a paved space under our awning. We were disappointed in the amount of trash along the bank of the lake. We picked up an entire trash bag full when we arrived and more throughout the weekend. Overall it was a great trip and we will be back.

Also, the beach area down the road at the boat ramp is closed for construction. It will be nice when it reopens.

    Village Creek State Park Campground

Nice, but many bees; Positive: not as busy as expected

If not for the bee infestation in the water pipes at the forst site, the rating would be MUCH higher…

Overall, we had a good time camping here. The only problem was the bugs (mosquitoes, spiders, etc.), but that's a risk of camping. Our actual, reserved site was overrun with bees in the water tap, though. We told the rangers who set off to spray them, and who also gave us a new, slightly bigger site to set up our tent. This one had many mosquitoes under the picnic table, but no bees! And mosquitoes happen, so we dealt with it:-) The bathrooms were GREAT, and even Air Conditioned! The firewood which was officially purchased there and covered in spiderwebs took a LONG time to get burning, but once it was, it burned hot and well into the night. It was a good stay, with the exception of getting stung by the bees, but thankfully it was only me and not the kids who were stung.

Surprisingly empty, given the very few options shown to reserve online. Maybe many people cancelled?

One thing to note: the office has WiFi during open hours…otherwise, we didn't even have ANY phone signal in the area. Good while camping, so not a complaint...just an observation FYI.

    Long weekend trip

Our site is right on the lake with a great fishing spot. The area for grilling and eating and fire pit is nice. The electric, water, and sewer hookups are very close. The parking area is not very wide. Only wide enough for the camper. I wish there was a better are for enjoying time under the awning. I was disappointed in the trash located along the bank of the lake. We cleaned up an entire trash bag full an then more along the way. Overall it’s a great campground and we would stay here again.

    Village Creek State Park Campground

2 night stay at Village Creek

This place was ok, very small, however more than half the trails and park were closed due to flooding. Lots of construction in progress. There was no sewage hook ups (water electricity only), nearby dump station. Bathroom facilities were very clean. The two trails opened were nice. My kids brought there bikes and enjoyed the one bike trail. I was a little annoyed by the park staff. They came by at least 15 times each day, checking tags, checking fire pits, checking pets, etc. I get it, but it kind of ruins the whole experience when you are relaxing in your camper and see park personnel snooping around constantly. We saw them everywhere. We couldn’t even hike without seeing them. It just felt invasive.

    EZ Daze RV Park

    Clean, concrete pads, good showers.

Ez Daze RV Park, Southaven, MS - We stayed one night in November. Easy pull through, level concrete site so we didn’t have to unhitch, very clean bathrooms and showers. They have two regular shower stalls which are extremely shallow and one ADA stall with pull down bench. We didn’t have much interaction with the staff because as soon as I walked in, about 4p, I was directed to find my site information outside in the after hours arrival box. Great if you’re looking for contactless registration or do in fact arrive after hours. There was debris in our space that must have been left by the previous camper and we had to get out and clear it before we could pull into the site. Appeared to be large broken pieces of a heavy plastic bumper. (Reason for 4 stars instead of 5) Strong wifi, cable reception wasn’t great. Code to the bathrooms, which is appreciated especially as the park is located in a business area and backs up to a residential neighborhood. Asphalt in front of office in extremely bad condition so be careful as you drive through. Nice office. They have plenty of long termers and there are two large receptacles outside the front office for package delivery. The park is easy access from I-55 and sits next to several RV dealers. Great place to stay if you want to have a look at some new trailers or motor homes. Also, a Tanger Outlet is just down the road. Full hook up, 50 amp site was $70, 63.00 with our Good Sam card which we think was a bit pricey. Oddly, there was only one trash receptacle in the entire park.

John W Kyle State Park — John W. Kyle State Park

    Awful

It’s really hard for me to give 1 star for anything, but this place is a dump. This is the 3rd MS State Park (North MS) we have been to and it is clear that MS does not take care of its state parks. Only half of the park is open, the grass was overgrown, trash/garbage is littered every where (especially near the open dumpsters that are randomly placed throughout camp), the ranger only came around to collect fees and then disappeared. The bathroom does not have AC or a fan, so it was a total sweat box. The toilet paper was not replenished, there is no hand soap, there was broken glass on the ground in one of the stalls. The shower portion wasn’t that bad, but again, no AC. The water hook ups are at least 100 foot away from most camp sites, so bring lots of extra hose if you do end up staying here. The site #’s are not clearly marked and they do not post if a site is reserved. No designated fire pits, so people have been just burning where ever they want. The fee is $22 a night, but they will charge you another $16 if you put up a tent. Overall, I paid $39 to stay in the worst campground we have ever gone to. Get it together Mississippi!

Guide to Lake Cormorant

Camping near Lake Cormorant, Mississippi offers access to several thousand acres of natural areas with temperatures averaging 90°F in summer and 50°F in winter. Located in the Mississippi Delta region at about 240 feet above sea level, the area features both wooded and lakefront camping options. Water levels at nearby Arkabutla Lake fluctuate seasonally, sometimes dropping significantly during dry periods.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Arkabutla Lake at Dub Patton Campground provides excellent fishing. "Fishing is pretty good most days," notes Jennifer O., who visited in August 2020. Sites 9 and 10 offer direct lake access for anglers wanting to fish from shore.

Disc golf courses: Wall Doxey State Park Campground features a complete disc golf course that winds through pine forests. "The highlight for us is the disc golf course that winds through the pine forest," shares Brandon R., who notes this activity is popular with nearby Ole Miss students.

Golf near campsites: For those seeking both camping and golf, Village Creek State Park Campground includes a 27-hole golf course within the park boundaries. "The golf course here is really nice, hiking trails good as well," mentions Bob M., who enjoyed both activities during his stay.

Biking routes: Village Creek provides excellent road biking opportunities. "The roads leading to this campground are fantastic for bikers," explains Jonathan C., who appreciates the smooth surfaces and relatively light traffic around the park.

What campers like

Private waterfront sites: Certain sites at Hernando Point offer direct lake views and privacy. "Very nice and clean. Well kept. Plenty of shady spots with lake views, very quiet also," reports Cody J., who appreciated the peaceful environment.

Affordability: Many campers note the reasonable pricing at several campgrounds. "Each site has electric and water, but still only $20," shares CJ W. about Hernando Point, noting the value despite not having sewer hookups at each site.

Spacious sites: Well-designed camping areas provide room between neighbors. "The sites were easy to get into and the campground was quiet and the setting is really beautiful," notes Jason G. about his experience at Hernando Point Campground, where sites feature enough space for comfort.

Clean facilities: Memphis KOA maintains high standards for cleanliness. "The laundry and camper kitchen were great amenities. The pool was clean and a great way to cool off," shares Zack L., who was impressed with the overall maintenance.

What you should know

Insects and ticks: Wooded areas in certain seasons require preparation. "If you are camping here anytime during the warmer months, be ready to pick ticks off of everyone," warns Brandon R. about Wall Doxey State Park Campground, particularly in the pine forest areas.

Highway noise: Some campgrounds experience traffic sounds. At Memphis KOA, "Surprisingly quiet for being right on hwy 40," reports Nicholas L., though other reviewers note the constant background noise from nearby interstates.

Hookup distances: Water connections can require extra equipment. "The water hook ups are at least 100 foot away from most camp sites, so bring lots of extra hose," advises Shana D. from her stay at John W Kyle State Park.

Limited yurt camping: While traditional yurt camping near Lake Cormorant, Mississippi is uncommon, alternative glamping options exist. Delta Ridge RV Park offers basic accommodations without the typical yurt camping amenities Lake Cormorant visitors might expect, though nearby parks provide cabin alternatives.

Swimming options: Seasonal water activities provide relief from summer heat. "They have a swimming pool, playground, covered party pavilion, laundry and lots of kids activities," notes Shana D. about Jellystone Park's family offerings.

Halloween festivities: Wall Doxey State Park hosts special seasonal events. "We were invited to the halloween get together at the park. And we had no idea it was such a big deal," explains Fred S., describing how "every camp site had wonderful decorations and the kids had such a blast."

Pet-friendly sites: Many campgrounds welcome family pets. "The staff greeted us and our pups with smiles, cozies, and treats for the dogs," says Zack L. about Memphis KOA, where dog-friendly accommodations include a dedicated dog park area.

Tips from RVers

Electrical concerns: EZ Daze RV Park provides reliable hookups but voltage monitoring is recommended. "I experienced a problem with our Powerdog 50 EPO Surge protector getting an E1 and E2 code error from the pedestals... it showed 142.5 volts on line 2," warns Andrew, suggesting surge protection equipment for safety.

Pull-through access: Delta Ridge RV Park offers convenient sites for larger units. "Very nice pull through sight for our 43' 5th wheel... very easy hookups, free WiFi, low price and nice grass for our dog," reports Crystal E., appreciating the straightforward layout.

Late arrival procedures: Many campgrounds accommodate after-hours check-ins. "We reserved same day online and they have a system for late check-ins," notes Angela C. about Jellystone Park, where self-service options make evening arrivals possible.

Leveling requirements: Site preparation varies between parks. "Level, nice concrete pads. Good hookups. Workers all very pleasant," shares Deb K. about EZ Daze RV Park, contrasting with other campgrounds requiring more extensive leveling.
