Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Salina, KS

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Salina KOA Campground accommodates pets at all 68 sites including tent areas, RV spots, cabins, and yurts. Dogs must remain leashed throughout the property with owners responsible for waste cleanup. The campground features a fenced dog park where pets can exercise off-leash. Bathrooms and facilities stay immaculate with air conditioning, making overnight stays comfortable during summer months. Campsites provide picnic tables, fire rings, and access to clean drinking water. The spacious pull-through RV sites accommodate big rigs with full hookups including electric, sewer, and water connections. Sites have gravel pads with most nearly level, requiring minimal additional leveling. Interstate noise is noticeable, especially for tent campers without air conditioning to mask the sound.

Kanopolis State Park's pet-friendly campgrounds at Eagle Point and Sandyshore welcome dogs on hiking trails and in designated swimming areas. Both locations maintain pet waste stations throughout camping areas, though owners should pack extra bags. The campground offers boat-in access points where dogs can swim safely away from main beach areas. Highway access remains convenient for travelers with pets needing veterinary services in nearby Salina. Weather considerations include hot summer temperatures requiring extra water for pets and potential for mosquitoes during evening hours, particularly in June and July. Fall months provide ideal camping weather for pet activities with fewer insects and moderate temperatures. Tent sites accommodate dogs with nearby shade trees providing cooling spots during midday heat.

    Airport Park Campground

    Airport park campground

No reservations, First come first serve. Pull through and back in for smaller RV/campers/Vans. Power and water at each store! Free wifi, women's and men's bathrooms, level concrete spots with picnic tables, established shad trees, and grass area at each campsite.
Dog Park and 18 hole disk golf!! Basically free for donations! Not sure if shower, it's night when we arrived.

No individual fire pit (But who cares after all that!) What a neat place after a long drive day!

    KOA Campground Salina

    Great stop, family friendly!

KOA did not disappoint here. Right off the highway, there is some road noise but for someone passing through it was great because it didn’t add more miles to our trip. We have a 5th wheel so with the AC running at night we didn’t hear the road noise.

Spots are wide enough to allow space and not on top of neighbors. We got a deluxe patio site. Very convenient so we did not have to pull out are grill and outdoor furniture for just an overnight stay. Had a fire pit and gas grill (that was remarkably clean and had all clean utensils inside for grilling!)

The store has fresh pizza and ice cream available, as well as some small grocery needs, and there is a big selection for Rv accessories/parts.

The kids loved the pool. There are 2 pools one circular one 3ft on sides 6 in the center. And a smaller rectangle one that is a kiddie pool. My son is 40 inches and he could touch the entire length. They have a gator pulling train cart, pedal carts, a jumping pad, basketball hoops that are adjustable and an outdoor ping pong table. Also a playground that could use some updates. And a fenced in dog park.

Overall a great stop for one night, and if I ever find myself driving through Kansas again I will definitely stay again.

Walt's Four Seasons Campground & Country Store

    Perfect Family E

I am thrilled with the amenities at this campground. The Wifi works great, especially after this is the first time I had wifi since leaving home. The pool, fishpond, kids playground, nature trail, and dog park are just some of the amenities. We all had some sandwiches made for us while we checked in. The bathroom and shower were exceptionally clean. My only concerns are the electric pedestal had a bulge below the socket, which wouldn't fit my surge protector. My electric went out, and I had to reset the breaker. I would have felt better knowing my surge protector was usable. Abilene, the boyhood home of President Eisenhower was right up the road and worth a visit.

What to do

Swimming and water recreation: Kanopolis State Park's Sandyshore Campground offers water access for families with pets. "Every spring I look forward to getting out of the city and relaxing peacefully at this beautiful Lake!
