Playground access: Walnut Grove RV Park and several other campgrounds offer play areas. "Kids loved playing on the playground in the morning while we packed up," shares Delci L. about her stay at Deer Creek Valley.
Recreation options: Look for campgrounds with multiple activities. "There was a store which had a pizza place inside, playgrounds, swimming pool, outdoor games, a game room, volleyball, trails, and even golf carts for rent. Very family friendly place," notes Shannon G.
Site selection: Request sites away from long-term residents when possible. "We visited Basswood Country RV Resort in October 2020. All in all our experience was a positive one, but prospective visitors should know that there is a large section of long term renters that you must drive through to get to the short term sites," advises Drew S.
Tips from RVers
Premium sites: Consider paying extra for better located sites at Atchison, Kansas rv campgrounds. At Walnut Grove RV Park, "We stopped here for the night and had a great stay. Only 10 minutes away from Joe's original Kansas City BBQ (super delicious). We did pay for the premium pull through site, so we had more room," recommends Mary.
Hookup positioning: Check utility locations before setup. "The utilities are at the far backside of the pad and based on our rig's configuration with the wet bay towards the front, we needed 25' or more of hose and electric cord," reports MickandKarla W. about their stay at Love's RV Hookup.
Storm protection: Some facilities offer weather safety features. At Deer Creek Valley RV Park, "The showers double as a storm shelter so they are huge and cavernous, but very clean and nice," notes Jim G.
