    Johnny Appleseed Campground

    Looked like a ghost town

This small, well-kept Campground is a Fort Wayne city park surrounded by industrial & commercial businesses. The Park is clean with the most modern, clean shower/bath house I’ve seen. Unfortunately, the restroom is located across the street from the campground. The sites were occupied by large RVs but we only saw 2 people sitting outside - no campfires, no cooking, no campers. This was just an over night stopover for us so we didn’t care. I suppose this Campground is used by seasonal workers who just sleep & eat dinner there at the end of their workday. The Campground is never dark with streetlights and and the ambient light from surrounding businesses. I’m sure this campground serves a purpose, just not my purpose. This is definitely NOT a destination.

    Air conditioning in the bathrooms

Very nice campground with level sites and air conditioned bathrooms! That is amazing in the summer. They have trails that are a nice walk for the dogs and a pond to catch and release fish.

    Shipshewana North Park Campground

Nice campground in a convenient location

We were passing through and decided to stop for frozen custard at the stand right next to the campground. The first review for this place did not seem very inviting but a more recent one was a little more positive. After checking it out, I thought it could use a little reinforcement of the positives! I’m not sure if there have been new owners since the first review but I received a very friendly greeting, and the office is open from 9 am– 8 pm and clearly marked as the place to check-in.

There are many options here: back-in or pull-thru tent sites, w/e sites, full hook-up sites, camper cabins, and fully equipped cabins. The campsites range from $32-$46 per night and the cabins range from $69-$144 per night. Sites 47-52 are close to the road so you will hear road noise, but Sites 11-35 are farther from the road and are more shaded. The layout is RV park style but there is reasonable separation between the sites.

The restrooms have a code for entry, and I did not see the inside of these.

    Amenities include:

    - a community fire pit

    -  game room with television

    - guest laundry

    - dump station

    - gift shop

    - pet friendly options

     -WiFi

    - There is, of course, an ice cream/frozen custard stand that I dare you to resist.

While we would not consider it a destination, we would definitely consider camping here en route – the price is reasonable, and the staff is friendly and welcoming.

    Elkhart RV Resort by Rjourney

    Very pleasant

Hope, the owner, is always so friendly & helpful. The restrooms/showers are nice and clean. You can get an entire 4 wheeler dump load of wood for $20. It’s nice dry wood. When we’ve camped in the past during April & October, we got free firewood those months. There’s a nice little camp store. We were given a nice welcome packet at check-in with visitor guides for the area. They recycle also. Pool and small miniature golf course. We really enjoy camping here. We’ve camped on several different sites here. We’ve stayed on the deluxe patio sites a couple of times when they were available. They have patio table & chairs on extra wide concrete pad, gas grill, fire pit & seating area in back.

    Potato Creek State Park Campground

Big, clean and plenty to do

The park itself is rather large, and the camping area is pretty expansive as well. Bathrooms are cleanish…but they start getting a little wild as the weekend wears on. Perpetual mud and slop from the showers, but functional. The sites are roomy enough but they are a little close together. Some sites are shaded, some are open…hard to tell when booking. Not many trees to set up a hammock on site. General store was well stocked and the staff across the board were very helpful.

    Potato Creek State Park Campground

1st time, will definitely be back.

Our first time here with our pop-up. It's a beautiful park. So much nature to explore, so we'll have to come back again. Note that my four star rating is based on five stars being perfection, so I would still definitely recommend it.

Our site was purposely located close to a bathhouse, but was not too close to have any bothersome noises. The bathhouse was a bit dated, but pretty clean. Individual stall showers with inner and outer curtains. Curtains could have been a bit longer, because the inner one allowed lots of spray into the outer "dry" part of the stall.

Great playground on the east side of the first loop. Kids seem to play there for hours and enjoy riding bikes around the loops. Very well manicured grounds, including paths from the sites to the bathhouse.

Nice little store that had a little bit of everything attendants were friendly. Firewood available. Cheaper outside the park, but don't mind supporting the park. Was open till 9PM even on Sunday.

Beach was small, but seems adequate for the number of people there. Could use a little sand cleaning, but not bad. Swimming area roped off to keep boats out. Bathrooms have showers.

    Already planning our next visit!

    Tippecanoe River State Park Campground

Nice place to get closer to nature—be ready for plenty of mosquitoes.

Friendly staff, very beautiful drive underneath the canopy to the campsites, variety of sites to choose from. Our site (64) was both pretty spacious and right on the tree line, had a fire pit, grill and electric. Size of sites seemed to differ as well as sizes of the grills. Some sites were also more secluded than others. Overall was a nice place to visit, just beware of how many mosquitoes there are. Obviously we’re in nature and a wooded area so bugs are normal, however we were shocked to see how many mosquitoes were swarming our vehicle before we even stepped out. Lots and lots of bug spray being reapplied seemed to do the trick for me, but my boyfriend still got bit excessively. Definitely bring an extra can of bug spray if you’re staying here! That was the biggest drawback for us but park rangers also came around several times throughout our stay spraying mosquito repellent out of trucks to keep them at bay so that definitely helped. I also read that Tippecanoe river is known to have local river otters, however after getting there it was clear that this was more rare to sight otters here and that there weren’t very many (easily accessible) places to view the river. There was a boat launch/otter picnic area, but all the other access points to the river seemed to be through hiking trails, same as the fire tower and we just weren’t up for it with all of the mosquitoes unfortunately. That being said, we were visiting in a pretty humid time, the bugs could’ve just been really bad while we were there, hopefully others reading will have better luck! If bugs aren’t a bother for you, this is definitely a good campground to connect with nature, many different trails and lots of birds to watch.

    Pic-A-Spot Campground

Former pick a spot now it's jt's lakeside campground I think

We have a blast!!!!! Bring your boat or watercraft! Plenty of lakefront camping spots on the barbie chain of lakes. Several (deep, clean) lakes hooked together by channels. Also hook into that big bass or musky!! It's crowded, pretty quiet usually, no showers or running water bathroom facilities. But the view...

    Tippecanoe River State Park Campground

    Great Campground!

We had a great weekend camping at this State Park. From the front gate person to the camp host, everyone was very friendly and helpful. We were on campsite 13 in the electric campground. The site was clean and well maintained. There was a picnic table, fire pit, and a very level pad. The bathrooms were a short walk from our site and were very clean. The sites are well spaced apart so you don't feel like you are on top of one another. We hiked on Trail 4. It was well maintained and well marked. There is a camp host selling firewood and ice. We had a great fire at night. All in all an excellent campground. We will definitely visit again.
