Great Campground!

We had a great weekend camping at this State Park. From the front gate person to the camp host, everyone was very friendly and helpful. We were on campsite 13 in the electric campground. The site was clean and well maintained. There was a picnic table, fire pit, and a very level pad. The bathrooms were a short walk from our site and were very clean. The sites are well spaced apart so you don't feel like you are on top of one another. We hiked on Trail 4. It was well maintained and well marked. There is a camp host selling firewood and ice. We had a great fire at night. All in all an excellent campground. We will definitely visit again.

Best Fall camping around!

We had a great stay at Lowden State Park. We arrived later in the evening and the park host greeted us and our name was at our reserved site already. We were at site #21. It was huge and plenty of room for a camper and tent if needed. The fire pit was in good condition along with the picnic table. We were a very short walk to the bathrooms and water. The camp ground was very clean and quiet night. Huge trees were providing ample shade. Great family campground as it has two playgrounds, sand volleyball court and large open field to play soccer. The camp store has a small selection of camping supplies along with snacks and drinks. Fire wood is available also but a truck drives around in the evening selling firewood to campers. A great service if you are located at a campsite farther away. The bathhouse was clean and tidy. We didn’t use the showers so I have no comment on those. The best part of this camp ground is the hiking and the falls colors. We hiked along the river and saw the Blackhawk Statue. The fall colors were in full display and we loved running through the leaves and throwing them at each other. We sat by the river and had a picnic lunch. It was a great weekend to wrap up our season of camping.

Holy Stars!!

The best part of this campground is the stars at night! This is a dark sky preserve campground and the stars are the show. We stayed here at the end of the perseid meteor showers and saw several of falling meteors. This campground is semi modern with all sites being electric but there are no flush toilets or showers. The only place to get water is a hand pump right when you enter the campground. The sites are huge and private with tree growth separating each site. We brought our kayaks and went out on the lake which is big and quiet. The campground was quiet at night and we had a great fire in the well equipped pit. Apart from no modern facilities, we would stay here again.

Best campground in Wisconsin

We have stayed here many of times and always had a great trip. The campsite are big and spacious with plenty of room for two tents and a screen tent. The bathrooms are cleaned daily and always in good shape. The campsite comes with a picnic table and a good size fire pit for open grilling. There is so much to do in the area from hiking, boating, fishing, rock climbing and just relaxing. Something for everyone.

Not a campground

This is not a campground. This is a park district owned water park for residents. Do not plan on camping here.

Terrific campground and state park

We stayed here this weekend and had a terrific time. The weather was very hot but there is a river to tube and canoe in to keep you cool. We stayed at site #35. It is in a very quiet, off the main road, in a circle, in full shade. It’s is very close to the restroom but a distance from the camp store and dumpster. The site was clean and well equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. The site is very uneven. It definitely sloops to the back corner. It’s was difficult to level our camper but we got it in the end. The site was huge but given the unevenness it would be difficult for tents. The campground is family friendly and was quiet at night. There is a lot to do at this state park. We hiked the #3 and #5 trails and it took us about 2 hours. It was very busy but everyone was very polite. It was a great stay all around.

Great campground

This was our first time at this campground and we were impressed. We stayed in the Fox Den electric sites. The campsite was very clean and the fire pit and table were in good condition. Our site was very shaded and quiet at night. The bath house was very clean. There is a lot to do at this park from hiking to water sports to horse back riding. We did a nice short hike in area. We had a great time at this campground and would visit again.

Terrible campground

I would probably never stay here again. We stayed in the plum grove electric site because it was close to the lake. We brought our kayaks and were looking forward to this trip. This is a very busy campground and popular on the weekends. But we didn’t think we would have had so many issues. The site was overgrown and hadn’t been mowed in awhile. The fire pit had a huge hole in it and the hot coals kept dropping through to the ground. The bathhouse was dirty and it over flowed so the campground personal had to come out and fix the plumbing. Disgusting. The lake had a lot of green algae and smelled a bit but it’s a lake. There were a lot of boaters and the boat launch was very crowded. The campsite behind us partied all night drinking, smoking weed and playing music until 5am. The campground is in need of some TLC. The only positive remark I can say is that the lake is great for kayaking.

Great campground!

We had the best time at this campground. The site was clean and well kept when we arrived. The fire pit and the picnic table were in excellent condition. The bathhouse was clean. This is a very family friendly campground with a playground and swings. The beach is a short walk from the campground. South Haven is a 10 min drive. We would stay here again!
