    Glo Wood Campground

    Peaceful and serene

The owners are very nice and keep up the grounds well. Our spot, like all around us was very long and nice, wide space between campers. We camped with a 38 foot travel trailer and a 20 foot Ford F250, and still had room(about the size of a golf cart). Very peaceful and serene camping out on their farm land. Most our neighbors were contract workers, so staying monthly. You can see some long term RVs in the wooded area nearby. They also provide storage so you do see RVs parked around the perimeter. We didn't use the bathhouse at all, so cannot comment on it. We had 50 amp with water and sewer at every site. Gravel drive and sites, with grass in between. Each space has their own garbage can and picnic table. Everyone we met was very nice. If you want privacy and space for a good rate, this is the place. It's close to many amenities, so location was good for us too. If it bothers you to see long term campers with their plants and gardens, etc. then look else where. Long term campers don't bother us. So we would definitely stay again.

    Mississinewa Lake Campground

    Good campgrounds for boating!

If you want woodsy, private sites, don’t come here. Most are grassy and sunny. There are many areas where the sites back up close to each other. 2 rows of full hookup. Plenty of 50 amp and many good tent sites. Beach in the park but not walking distance. Great mooring area for campers. Don’t try to pull-thru in any sites that are back-in. DNR will come around repeatedly and ask you to turn around...after you are already set up. Disc golf, trails, store near the beach, cabin rentals.

    Glo Wood Campground

    Good Location

We stayed here for 3 nights with a 33 ft. 5th wheel.  We had 50 amp/water and sewer. We attended 2 concerts at Ruoff Music Center.  Campground was clean and quiet, although needed to be mowed.  Sites are gravel and fairly level with a firepit and picnic table.  Not much shade at the sites and there are several long term campers.  Owner was very nice and helpful.

This is a great option for concert goers.  It was literally 10 minutes from the venue/Noblesville.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Plymouth

    August 2018: Meh

Please know this is mostly a mobile home park and long term rvs. It’s kept up decent but some shoddy add ons and sheds throughout. there are I’ve 900 sites and more than 95% are permanent. It’s between a very busy freeway and very busy railroad track. Cute little lake with lots of activities for kids and themed weekends. I was abke to run 3 miles aroind the park. Full hook ups are only up to 30 amps. Close to Chicago. We will not be returning due to noise but other than that, it’s ‘meh’.

    Muncie RV Resort

Solid choice -- Near Mounds state park, city of Anderson, and I-69

I stayed with full hookups, but no cable (don't need it, so don't know if it's available) and we weren't close enough to connect to the WIFI (only close enough to occasionally see 1 bar pop up).

Friendly folks, catch and release fishing pond, and a pond with beach for swimming. Good size playground, jump pad, and off-leash"dog park" available as well.

On AT&T, I typically had 2 bars and no problem streaming music or browsing Facebook. My fellow travelers, on Sprint, said they had poor reception. I'm guessing 1 bar.

Worth noting that my wife said the water pressure in the shower house was fairly low. (I shower in the camper, so can't comment.) Water pressure was fine at our site, though. Also worth noting that many of the back-in sites can be pull-through if you get there when it's not busy.

    White River Campground

    Quick getaway

Nice camp ground along the white river with several sites along the waterway. Clean, well maintained, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Paved road with level concrete sites, could be a little more spacious, but all n all laid out nicely with aluminum picnic tables, and fire ring, 50 and 30 amp hook ups along with H20, and several full hook ups. Tent camping also available. Well stocked camp store. The facilities up front by the office are very clean and have showers with hot water. They could use a bench in the shower stall for your clothing and a space To get dressed discreetly. The facility at the end of the campground dosent have showers and are adequate but not quite as nice. Campground is in a good location close to many amenities

    White River Campground

    Best campground ever!

I've traveled across the US and this is the best campground I've stayed in. First of all it's very clean which is surprising for Indiana. Back up to the river. Great views. Free hot showers! Quiet. Feels secluded though close to town. Good price too. Free wifi that worked so well we could both work online and stream TV! It does not get any better. Dog friendly. Nice playground for the kids. Fire circles and clean picnic tables at each site. If I lived here, I'd come here often. Great place. Walking and biking trails. Canoeing and kayaking. Historic bridge.

    Wabash & Erie Canal Park

    Great Little Campground

Heading south out of Elkhart, we happened on this great little campground (CG). We called two hours out and they had a site that would fit our 39’ 5th wheel. We followed our RV GPS and Google maps instructions to the city park and CG area. When we came down the road to the CG we were unsure of the CG location, but it is located right behind the interpretive/conference center building. We were in FHU site C, which was technically a pull through. However, you have to turn in front of the interpretive/conference center and go around the building to be able to pull through the site at the back of the building. But, there’s a pine tree that is overgrown and could have scratched the side of our fifth wheel. Since we had already drove past the interpretive/conference center and were in front of site C, we just backed in to the spot, which was an easy back in and easily fit our rig and F-450. We got 3 bars on Verizon and 4 OTA channels, which included CBS and CW prime channels. We walked our pups along the canal and enjoyed the historic displays and buildings in this small park. We were soon joined by the campground hosts who arrived for their 4th season and they were very nice. There are 4 FHU sites of which A is the camp host. All the sites will take rigs up to 40’. There are also electric and tent sites as explained in the CG picture attached. There are walking trails and other interesting exhibits to explore. This CG is definitely a hidden gem. Too bad we only had an overnight stay.

    Glo Wood Campground

    Simple but good

Definitely a little dated. Picnic tables cracked plastic. My site was missing fire ring but many had them. Most sites really wet but gravel pads were close to level, needed to raise one side 1”.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Kil-So-Quah at J. Edward Roush Lake offers excellent eagle watching and fishing access. According to Erica A., it's a "good bird watching spot. Lots of eagles," though she notes "there is gunfire noise from the range across the lake. Not bad though."

River access: Tall Sycamore Campground provides direct access to the Wabash River. Jennifer H. mentions, "I love staying by the Wabash River at Tall Sycamore. It's a true community where everyone helps one another and the carry in dinners are fun and delicious!"

Swimming: Prairie Creek Park offers lake swimming during summer months. One camper notes it's "loved by local boaters and anglers. Nice place for an overnight stop." The park includes a clean lake with fishing opportunities, as Daniel mentioned: "Great fishing, clean lake."

What campers like

Community atmosphere: Many campgrounds foster neighborly environments. At Prairie Creek Park, Sharon T. experienced this firsthand: "We had a 10 person tent that we had no clue how to put up. We left to get more supplies and upon returning we found 10 guys waiting to help us put it up! We had no idea who they were, but they put the tent up and refused to be paid."

Affordability: Kil-So-Quah - J. Edward Roush Lake provides electric sites for just $15 per night. Shawn confirmed: "Electric for $15. Lots of traffic in and out though." While the sites may not have lake views, the value is appreciated.

Peace and quiet: White Oaks RV provides a tranquil atmosphere with convenient access to amenities. Whitley S. shared: "Great get away with perfect access to the lake. Close to town within 15 min for stores and restaurants."

What you should know

Self-service systems: At Wabash City RV Park, Don H. explains their unique check-in process: "You MUST check in at the Water Treatment Plant by 4PM. You do not need to have picked a site yet. Complete the typical paperwork and you'll be given keys to unlock the electrical box and a key to turn on the water."

Seasonal considerations: Most campgrounds in the area have limited availability between April and October. Tall Sycamore Campground specifically operates from "April 15th to October 15th" according to their listing information.

Cell service: Connectivity varies significantly between properties. At Muncie RV Resort, Michael L. reports: "On AT&T, I typically had 2 bars and no problem streaming music or browsing Facebook. My fellow travelers, on Sprint, said they had poor reception."

Tips for camping with families

Local assistance: Prairie Creek Park has staff that look out for campers in need. Sharon T. shared her experience: "The park staff found the very last spot after hearing our housing dilemma and checked on me everyday while my husband went to work."

Seasonal crowds: Plan for busier conditions during holidays at Kil-So-Quah, as Sadye H. advises: "I've camped here every season but if you don't like crowds, make sure to avoid the summer holidays."

Tips from RVers

Power connections: At Wabash City RV Park, electrical hookups may require adaptors. Don H. explains: "Our electrical pedestal had no 30amp receptacle. If you have a 30amp plug, bring a 50amp adapter. There are two 20amp outlets available."

Site selection: When visiting Kil-So-Quah, Darrell B. recommends arriving early: "During the weekends it gets packed. Only 60 sites so show up early if you want one. No reservations so first come gets it."

Amenities: Some parks like Muncie RV Resort maintain consistently positive reviews for their upkeep. Dan B. shared: "This a a very quiet, clean campground. They directed us to our side and the staff was very friendly. Although we didn't use it, the beach looked nice and a good play set for the kids."
