Prairie Creek Reservoir offers camping sites on both north and south shores of the 1,275-acre lake with elevations around 950 feet above sea level. Water levels fluctuate seasonally, with summer drawdowns sometimes affecting shore access. The reservoir's proximity to the White River watershed creates diverse camping experiences between the more developed south shore and the primitive north shore options.

Clean facilities: Prairie Creek Park maintains well-kept camping areas with good amenities. "Clean and friendly environment," says Brian M. The campground staff regularly maintains bathrooms and common areas throughout the camping season.
Affordable options: Both shore areas at Prairie Creek offer budget-friendly camping. "10/28/22. Campground is closing 10/31/22 for the winter. We stayed in the south shore campground (primitive sites and a handful of sheds/cabins), only here for the night. For $12.84 you really can't complain!" reports Adam O. about Prairie Creek Park.
Site variety: Summit Lake provides different camping experiences based on which loop you choose. "I hammock camp so I'm always looking for places that have trees and are pretty. When I arrived I was a little worried because the first loop was flat, grassy and open with very few trees in the camp spots good for hammocks. The second loop had what I was looking for. Stayed in 76, beautiful spot with lots of tree cover," explains Stephanie B.
