Best RV Parks & Resorts near Centerville, IN

Several RV parks surround Centerville, Indiana, offering diverse options for motorhome travelers. Natural Springs Resort in nearby New Paris, Ohio provides full hookup RV sites with 50-amp service and is open year-round, featuring big-rig friendly spaces with gravel pads. Just north in Richmond, Grandpas Farm Camp Ground operates seasonally from April through November with full hookup sites that accommodate larger motorhomes. Thousand Trails Indian Lakes in Batesville offers water and electric sites with 50-amp service across its expansive property, operating April through November. Archway Campground in New Paris maintains year-round availability with electric hookups and water, though without sewer connections at individual sites. "Sites have 30A electric and there is plenty of potable water available around the campground, just not at the site," noted one RV camper about the region's state parks.

Most RV campgrounds in the area feature dump stations for those without full hookup sites, with Archway Campground and Hueston Woods State Park providing centralized sanitary dump facilities. Cell service varies by location, with AT&T users reporting "pretty good" coverage at Muncie RV Resort while Sprint users experienced weaker signals. Seasonal availability is important to note, as many parks close between November and April. Pet owners will find most parks accommodate animals, with designated pet areas at several locations. Pull-through sites are limited at some parks like Hueston Woods, where one visitor advised, "Stay in Loop A or B!" for the best RV experience. Dayton KOA Holiday, though pricier at $77 per night for full hookups, offers 223 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp service options, making it a reliable choice for RVers needing guaranteed hookups without reservation concerns.

    Winton Woods Campground

Great county park in a beautiful setting!

This is a great county park! It has a nice “campground” feel set in a large pine trees and wide sites but has 50-amp full hook-up sites. The campground is set in Winton Woods County Park which is about 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

There are 123 campsites including RV sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Most RV sites are back-in but there are 12 pull-thru sites. There is a myriad of sites here from 50-amp full hook-up with paved pads and patios to 30-amp gravel sites. Sites have fire pits, picnic tables. Campsites in the front section (1F – 25F and 1R – 12R) are big rig-friendly with paved roads wide enough to easily maneuver. All utilities worked accordingly and were well-placed in the site. Our 4G Verizon phone got good reception and we were able to get plenty of antenna television channels. The online reservation system is easy to use and gives you an array of sites/cabins to choose from. Be aware that lots of people use this park on the weekends so it can get quiet busy.

There are lots of amenities at this park. Within walking distance of the campground is Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails. There is a camp store, dump station, laundry, restrooms/shower house, boat/kayak launch, and fishing access. Located in the park is a golf course and horseback riding center.

You are within a few miles of everything … grocery, gas/diesel, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The park is close to I-275 and I-75 making for easy access to major interstates. One place you should not miss is Jungle Jims international grocery and market. This totally eclectic, sprawling "grocery store" has so much to offer. They pride themselves on providing unique foods from all over the world. I could spend hours in this store perusing the isles of which are sectioned off into country and region. There are entire sections on Indian foods, wines, cheeses that you have never heard of, and tanks with live fish ready for the filleting. Also within close proximity is Greaters -one of the country's best ice cream shops (according to Food and Wine). Just down the street is a new person favorite sandwich shop called Izzy's which is famous for their corned beef and delicious potato pancakes.

Loved this park because you have a very nice campsite with 50-amp full hook-up site with lots to do in the area. Our site was level and the roads were easy to navigate in our motorhome. The paved trail around the lake was great for walking/jogging and perfect for launching our kayaks.

We would definitely stay here again.

    Glo Wood Campground

    Peaceful and serene

The owners are very nice and keep up the grounds well. Our spot, like all around us was very long and nice, wide space between campers. We camped with a 38 foot travel trailer and a 20 foot Ford F250, and still had room(about the size of a golf cart). Very peaceful and serene camping out on their farm land. Most our neighbors were contract workers, so staying monthly. You can see some long term RVs in the wooded area nearby. They also provide storage so you do see RVs parked around the perimeter. We didn't use the bathhouse at all, so cannot comment on it. We had 50 amp with water and sewer at every site. Gravel drive and sites, with grass in between. Each space has their own garbage can and picnic table. Everyone we met was very nice. If you want privacy and space for a good rate, this is the place. It's close to many amenities, so location was good for us too. If it bothers you to see long term campers with their plants and gardens, etc. then look else where. Long term campers don't bother us. So we would definitely stay again.

    Glo Wood Campground

    Good Location

We stayed here for 3 nights with a 33 ft. 5th wheel.  We had 50 amp/water and sewer. We attended 2 concerts at Ruoff Music Center.  Campground was clean and quiet, although needed to be mowed.  Sites are gravel and fairly level with a firepit and picnic table.  Not much shade at the sites and there are several long term campers.  Owner was very nice and helpful.

This is a great option for concert goers.  It was literally 10 minutes from the venue/Noblesville.

Winton Woods Campground Hamilton County Park

    Surprising City Campground

Winton Woods Campground was a clean and quiet campground that we were pleasantly surprised to find. The campground fills up fast and there were plenty of shaded electric sites close to the lake. There were also plenty of pull through sites for the big rigs. However if you’re good at backing, there were a good many deeper sites that you could use. Close by is Bass Pro Shops so you could pickup anything you forgot. Only one shower house for the entire campground though.

    S and H Campground

    Memorial Day Weekend 2022

Keep in mind it was Memorial Day weekend. Hancock County had 2" of rain on Friday. The campground (lower) sits at a low elevation. Our site was 70% flooded. Fortunately we have two entrance doors. Staff was friendly all weekend. There are essentially 3 phases to the campground. We were on the creek side. Honestly if you have a big rig or large TT don't go to that side. Ask for on the hill and backed up to the fun park. When you call to make a reservation, they won't give you a site # until you arrive. Bathrooms were decent size, but most of the time nasty. Miniature golf was free, pool was a little green (but we had a lot of rain). Stocked pond. Good bands throughout the weekend. The hill offered more space and had updated facilities, small market, grill, ice cream. The family fun area does cost extra. We were on site 86, 50 amp service, but when everyone started turning on their AC, my surge protector kept kicking due to voltage swings. We were on an electric + water site. The dump station on creek side were not functioning and we had to have our tanks pumped. Camp sites were tight. Majority were seasonals. If we come back in the future will be on a full hookup on the hill. Close enough to get to IMS. Happy Camping!

    Muncie RV Resort

Solid choice -- Near Mounds state park, city of Anderson, and I-69

I stayed with full hookups, but no cable (don't need it, so don't know if it's available) and we weren't close enough to connect to the WIFI (only close enough to occasionally see 1 bar pop up).

Friendly folks, catch and release fishing pond, and a pond with beach for swimming. Good size playground, jump pad, and off-leash"dog park" available as well.

On AT&T, I typically had 2 bars and no problem streaming music or browsing Facebook. My fellow travelers, on Sprint, said they had poor reception. I'm guessing 1 bar.

Worth noting that my wife said the water pressure in the shower house was fairly low. (I shower in the camper, so can't comment.) Water pressure was fine at our site, though. Also worth noting that many of the back-in sites can be pull-through if you get there when it's not busy.

    Jellystone Campground-pierceton

    Expensive

We stayed here because of the discount offered through Passport America, and somehow the price was still too high. We paid $42 for a FHU pull through site (that was after the discount). However, it was a nice park and it was nice to get caught up on laundry and showers.

You can pay for laundry with the CSCPay app ($5 credit when you first sign up, so your first load is free), or you can pay with credit card. No coins taken. Laundry was nice and clean and the dryers worked excellent.

There are FHU pull through sites, or back in sites with electric only (there is a dump station available). There are also cute cabins available as well.

There are lots of things to do here at the park, but the park itself is out in the middle of nowhere. It was a really eerie feeling when we were there, because almost every spot was taken, but nobody was there. I guess people pay for the season and leave their trailers on site and come in for the weekend.

There’s a nice tent area in the back, rolling grassy area where we let our dog run around off leash since nobody was around. The lake in the middle of the park was really nice, and you can rent pedal gokarts or golf carts, or boats for paddling around the lake.

The camp store is nice, lots of food and supplies and gifts available for sale. There are trash dumpsters here but no recycling.

Mounds State Recreation Area Campground — Brookville Lake

    Beautiful trails and Lake access

Mounds State Recreation Area located near Brookville Indiana is a beautiful location with camping for tents, trailers and motorhomes. There’s plenty of outdoor recreation available with trails and water access to Brookville Lake. About a dozen of the campsites have full hookups with 50amp power, water and sewer. These sites are big rig friendly. When booking online be cautious of site grade as many of the sites in the original loops have a moderate grade and are uneasy for motorhomes to level. The camp store has both ice and firewood available as well as souvenirs and snacks. Be cautious when making reservations as there is also a similar park with the same name located in northern Indiana.

Guide to Centerville

Centerville, Indiana sits at approximately 900 feet elevation in east-central Indiana, characterized by gently rolling farmland with several creeks and tributaries feeding nearby streams. The region experiences warm, humid summers with temperatures regularly reaching the mid-80s and cold winters that see frequent freezing temperatures. Most campgrounds in the area offer a mix of shaded and open sites with varying levels of privacy.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Indian Lakes RV Campground features multiple fishing ponds and a lake with good catch rates. "Fishing is very good reasonable priceing," notes Cujo S. The park maintains well-stocked waters that attract anglers throughout the camping season.

Mountain biking trails: Several local parks maintain dedicated biking paths through wooded areas. "This park is amazing for mountain biking trail to go with water sport at lake," reports Ko L. about Hueston Woods State Park. Trail difficulty ranges from beginner-friendly loops to more technical sections with varied terrain.

Swimming options: Multiple campgrounds offer swimming in either natural water bodies or pools. "There are 2 pools, and a golf course," mentions Debbie S. about Indian Lakes. Natural Springs Resort features "a beautiful spring fed quarry with clean and clear water," according to Daniele M.

What campers like

Large, level sites: Many campgrounds provide spacious accommodations for various camping styles. At Grandpas Farm Camp Ground, "the lot was nice, level, had a small picnic table and wooden deck," according to Joe B. This makes setup easier, especially for first-time campers or those with larger equipment.

Proximity to water features: Campers consistently praise access to lakes, ponds, and streams. "The lake is awesome. We love going camping here. We go at least 3 times a summer because of how peaceful it is," writes Kimberly A. about Indian Lakes RV Campground. These water features provide recreation and a relaxing backdrop.

Family-friendly amenities: Dayton KOA Holiday receives consistent praise for its facilities. "Great KOA! had lots of activities, great pizza, really nice showers and it's beautiful. There's a large pool and a creek," says Stefanie C. Most campgrounds in the area maintain playgrounds and recreational areas for children.

What you should know

Seasonal availability: Most campgrounds near Centerville operate from April through November. "Indian Lakes Campground is 10 minutes east of downtown Batesville, an hour to the east of Indianapolis and an hour to the west of Cincinnati," notes Brandie B., adding that her family arrived "on April 3rd, the day prior to Indiana Covid-19 stay at home restrictions."

Road conditions: Some campgrounds have maintenance issues worth noting. At Hueston Woods State Park Campground, "traffic noise is noticeable, especially during quiet hours. While not excessive, it's disruptive," reports Dave V. Others mention specific access challenges.

Bathroom facilities: Quality varies significantly between campgrounds. "Bathroom stalls, like the showers, utilized shower curtains rather than lockable doors. In my tent area...antiquated wood shed pit latrines...that truly needed razed," notes Dave V. about Hueston Woods. Cleanliness standards and maintenance schedules differ by location.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Families appreciate dedicated play areas at several campgrounds. "They have a large kids playground and pool, very clean bathroom and the host friendly like part of families," writes Zu Y. about Grandpas Farm Camp Ground. These areas provide entertainment while parents set up camp or prepare meals.

Swimming safety: Natural water features have varying conditions. "Natural Springs Resort has a beautiful spring fed quarry with clean and clear water. Easy going fishing spots a pool, weekend activities and even a small camp store with grill/ice cream inside," says Daniele M. Always check water depths and safety rules before allowing children to swim.

Activity planning: Prairie Creek Park offers diverse recreation options. "Great fishing, clean lake," mentions Daniel, noting the park's affordable rates. Many campgrounds schedule weekend events specifically for children during peak season.

Tips from RVers

Dump station access: Not all campgrounds offer full hookups at each site. "They have 30 and 50 amp hook ups available. No sewer hookups but dump station onsite," explains Jeremiah G. about Archway Campground. This information helps RVers plan their tank capacity needs accordingly.

Site dimensions: RV campers should verify space requirements before booking. "Mostly level sites. Grass, trees, and a pond all very well maintained," notes James P. about Dayton KOA. Most rv sites near Centerville, Indiana can accommodate standard-sized rigs, but larger motorhomes may face challenges at certain locations.

Hookup reliability: Electric service varies by campground. "The spot we found was 30amp with water no sewer at 50$ a night I was disappointed 25$ would have been more realistic," reports Dale Y. about Indian Lakes. Comparing these costs helps RVers budget appropriately for camping near Centerville.
