Best Campgrounds near Grand View, ID

Grand View, Idaho provides both established campgrounds and dispersed camping areas along the C.J. Strike Reservoir and nearby water features. The Cove at C.J. Strike Reservoir, managed by the BLM, accommodates tent and RV camping with drive-in, boat-in, and walk-in access. Several Idaho Power campgrounds populate the region, including Scout CJ Strike Reservoir and North Park Campground, offering basic amenities for primitive camping. Just 20 minutes from Interstate 84, Bruneau Dunes State Park Campground provides developed sites with electric hookups and cabin options for those seeking more comfortable accommodations.

Road conditions vary significantly throughout the region, with some campgrounds accessible via paved roads while others require travel on dirt or gravel surfaces. Summer temperatures can be quite hot in this high desert environment, making spring and fall ideal camping seasons. Cell service is spotty throughout the area, with marginal Verizon reception noted at some campgrounds. Most Idaho Power sites limit stays to 14 days, while BLM areas typically enforce similar restrictions. A visitor to the Cove at CJ Strike Reservoir noted, "Clean and quiet. Most sites are spaced out well, there are some on the water that are closer together. Most sites have a shelter over the picnic table."

Water access represents a primary draw for campers in the Grand View area, with several campgrounds positioned directly along C.J. Strike Reservoir offering opportunities for fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing. Sites at Jacks Creek Campground feature camping "literally on the water's edge" according to one reviewer, who praised the "utility operated natural area by Idaho Power" as "very well maintained" with excellent Verizon service. While amenities at most campgrounds remain basic, with vault toilets and limited water access, the peaceful setting and reservoir views compensate for the rustic conditions. Campers should be prepared for potential wind, as the area can experience strong gusts with limited natural windbreaks. Bug activity can be significant near the water, particularly during warmer months.

    center point rv park

    Great place

I'm very polite up front. Nice individuals bend over backwards to help you. Even though they didn't have any spots available, they're more helpful, very kind

    Bruneau Canyon Overlook

    Beautiful view , no camping

Last 4 miles is on a washboard road. Magnificent views! Standard BLM toilet which isn’t bad. The area is basically a wide turn around which could accommodate maybe one camper in a B or C class

    Sunny Ridge RV Park

    Okay For A Short Stay

Sunny Ridge is okay, I guess, but the heat, no shade, the FLIES, FLIES AND MORE FLIES, are really wearing on my patience. It's good for those that are gone most of the day, like hunting or exploring. It’s also right off Hwy 95, right off the highway, my spot about 50’ away. It’s loud. There’s some shade provided to a few sites, but I’m not in one of those. Shade sites are few: 3, 4, 11, 12, 13, 14 and maybe 15, sites 2 and 10 are partial shade. There’s some green grass/weeds, but the site I’m in is dirt with some brown scrub. It’s dusty and muddy when it gets wet. The town is too small to support a grocery store but the convenience and small hardware stores have some basics. I paid$45 for a miniature hack saw and three ¾” x 3’ pieces of pvc pipe to fix my trailer pantry shelves. This entire area is geared, right now, for hunters; antelope season just opened and I’m sure deer and other game seasons will also open soon. Internet works well, no issues. T-Mobile works great. Restrooms/showers are fine but dated. Restroom/shower only allow for one at a time. Laundry room has two sets of W/Ds, but only one set is operational. Quail abound here, fun to watch. Full hookups, but the spot where I was (#40) only had a 50A connection. My 50A-30A converter fixed it quickly.

    Mountain Home RV Park

    Very nice and organized park

They greet you when you arrive and show you to your spot. All spots are paved with nice grass strip. Dog parks in two different areas. There are plenty of trees to keep the rv shaded. Walking distance to Walmart.

Frank C Jones King Hill Area

A Mad Dog and a Drowsy Owl

I arrived at the spot a little before sunset after getting chased down the road by a very unsettled dog, whose territory I had invaded off on the left-hand side of the road, presumably.

I’m not sure how many sites are actually there at the park. I saw only about three real proper spots to the right by the river that I could count, at least.

There was another section to the left of the entry road, which was barred off by a gate, but I decided to car camp for the night by the boat launch and not hike in with all my gear.

There was a perhaps 10-15 spot parking lot by the boat ramp (and the bathrooms) where two trucks with boat trailers were parked.

It was a Saturday night, and there was a little music coming from one of the boats close up to the shore. But it was a chill vibe, and I felt no apprehension about sleeping in the place.

The bathrooms were spidery but clean and pretty basic.

I woke up to the chattering of a crap-ton of birds. And I was not disappointed to find a large owl preening itself in the tree towering above my site.

The river, on daylight inspection, was great and somewhat enticing, but I resisted the urge to bust out my kayak opting instead for a quick breakfast and an early day back on the road.

I totally recommend, unless you want a shower and/or more services.

    KOA Boise Meridian RV Resort

    Love it Here!

We're permanent residents here because we love this place! The staff are wonderful, friendly, and work hard to keep this place as lovely as it is. In the clubhouse you can play pool, watch tv, swim in the pool or lounge in the jacuzzi. There's also a wonderful kitchen where you can reserve the room for a get-together-an island to prepare, plenty of frig space and lots of tables set up in a 1950's theme!   You can hear the speedway from where we live, and you can hear a train off in the distance.  We love that community feeling we have here, and can afford the price. Cheers to KOA! May you stay just as you are!   Oh yeah, there are plenty of places for one-nighters so they can enjoy all the nearby amenities- So many restaurants and burger joints, and other businesses right nearby!

    Fine

Lots of spiders by the volt toilet. Other than that, it was a decent spot for one night. There are two spots for a tent, but I would recommend a van/trailer for the rest of the parking/ camp spots. Be aware of the trains at night! They scared me half to death!
