    Lava Hot Springs West KOA

    Great KOA

Great pull-through and the back-in spots are beautiful. Kid, pet friendly, walking distance to food and fun. One of the best KOA’s we have stayed at.

    North Bingham County Park

Nice Quiet Park - $45/night for Non Resident

The park is nice and clean, appears to be recently paved or resurfaced.  The spots are relatively level. Restrooms are clean and nice shower is large.  The 12 pull through sites have 20/30/50 Amp outlets and potable water and each has its own picnic table.  The dump station is just past the sites there is a seprate potable water fill 50' from the dump station which has its own hoses and water for flushing tanks.

There are two areas of grass designated as tent sites with in ground fire rings and there is one shared elevated charcoal grill.

As of July 2025 the nightly rate is $25/night for Bingham County Residents and $45/night for Non-Residents.  There are envelopes for payment (cash or check only) at the front gate and inside the envelope is an information sheet with the bathroom codes.

    - AT&T Service is 3 bars and bounces between 5G+ and LTE my speedtest showed 10.38 Mbps Download

    - Starlink is partially obstructed in all of the pull throughs with ~15 outages greater than 2s in 15 minutes but has download speeds of 157.93 Mbps when not obstructed.

    - T-Mobile is 3 bars of 5G and my speediest showed 310.58 Mbps download speed.

    Yellowstone Lakeside RV Park

Friendly owner and nice place to stop a short distance from Idaho Falls

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and having been fairly remote for a while, needed to hit a few big box stores to stock up in things. The CG is undergoing and expansion and is the area we stayed in, which got rather sloppy when it rained. We were in site W-5 for 2 days in late July. This area is all gravel and only a few of the sites were complete enough to be open. The sites all looked very level, but are open. All of the pull-through sites, existing and expansion, are oriented such that every other pair pull through in opposite directions and share utilities, which results in slide-outs only being a few feet apart in most cases. The new back-in sites along the periphery are roomier in between. There is a little road noise from US-20, but not excessive. AT&T coverage good, with 4 Bars of LTE with service up to 14.5 MB/s. They have a tower right across the highway. The CG WiFi was decent with speeds up to 1.8 MB/s, but generally in the 100s of MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were 13 OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

    Massacre Rocks State Park Campground

    Great little place to stay

This beautiful state park is located right off of the freeway about 7 miles outside of American Falls, Idaho. There is a little bit of road noise at the park because of the proximity to the freeway but it wasn't a bother at all. The views of the river are beautiful and the sunset was amazing. There are a lot of trails to walk on here, and since the park is pet friendly our three big dogs walked the trails with us. There is a disc golf course, although we didn't try it out. The camp host was great. The bathrooms were clean, although only half of them are open in the off season. The only draw back we could see is that the spots aren't very spacious, so if you're new at parking your rig, or if you have a really large rig, it could be a tight fit. We were in a 33 ft TT and the pull through spot (17) was plenty long, but kind of narrow. Spot has 50 and 30 amp hook ups as well as water if you camp during the summer-no water in the off season.

    Pocatello KOA

    Good for a quick stay

Campsites are a little close with no privacy and there are no sewer connections at the individual sites. There are two dump sites on the backside of the store. Pretty much gravel throughout with some grass at the smaller sites. Amenities: kids playground area with grass, a small fenced dog park, horseshoes, picnic table at each site (no fire pits at the pull through sites). Inside the store: pool table, table tennis, and a foosball table. Overall a good clean campsite to hold you over for a day or two.

    Lava Hot Springs East KOA

    Nice KOA-Poor RV Sites Design

The KOA is just off US-30, so easy to find. Our GPS and Waze did not have the exact address, but you can easily see the KOA sign coming in from the east. We were traveling with another couple and there were basically two marked check-in spaces. You have to pay attention to where you position your rig so you don't block office car parking. We had reserved a premium K-9 site and were assigned site 102 at check-in. Site 102 was 1 of 3 premium sites next to the office. The problem with site 102 was 1) there was a truck parked there with no owner in sight, 2) trees that would have scraped the top of our 5th wheel, and 3) a very difficult and tight back-in swing on this 90-degree site with our 40' rig. You need to be an expert backer, or very lucky, to clear the trees at the entrance of this site if you're in a larger rig. Sites 100 and 101 do not have these same obstacles and with the river view, are arguably the best sites in the park. We went back into the office to request a different site and were assigned a non K-9 premium back-in site, 200, in their new area. We would have enjoyed the original site as it does have a nice river view. Sites were under construction in the 200 area and each site is highlighted by 7-inch high and 6-inch wide cement curbs. Whoever designed much of this CG did not understand RVs. It was challenging to back into your site as there are also cement barriers to protect the sewer hookups off the curbs in front of sites on the adjacent pull-through sites. We almost tore off a snap pad getting too close to a curb as the curbs are not sloped to prevent this and based on the markings, a lot of tires have fallen victim to these curbs. Also, we had to be very careful going up and down our steps as you have the curb there as well. While we were getting into our site, a 45’ class A was trying to get into pull-through site 221 across from us. Just trying to make the turn onto this row, he ran his rear tires up on the curb around the shower/laundry facility. He still had his toad attached and had to disconnect it to avoid damaging his vehicle. Hopefully, the management of this park will mark that site for shorter rigs as he also had problems clearing the curbs when departing his site. Their free Wifi was decent. We got 3 bars on Verizon and no issues getting a shot to the north sky for Starlink as there are no mature trees in this new area. There are plenty of other CG options in the area, so we will not stay here again. The main positive of this CG is the staff. They were friendly and accommodating when we requested to change sites. They also credited us the diffrence in cost since we didn't get the K-9 site, without us asking for the credit.

    Caribou Highlands Golf & RV

    What a Find

We were in the Lava Hot Springs, ID area and when traveling US-30, we saw a sign for Caribou Highlands Golf & RV. We had to check out a golf course with an RV park. When you turn off US-30 at the sign, it will be a hard-packed dirt road and you go straight until you see golf course signage and follow them to the course. You will first come to the campground (CG) area where the 10 pull-through sites with FHUs (30/20 AMP). Check-in is at the clubhouse which is about 100 yards from CG. The pull-throughs are long enough for big rigs. A few of the sites have large trees so you will want to watch your sides and roof. There's a bathhouse building. There are no picnic tables at the sites. The cost per night when we were there was $42. During the week its pretty wide open but they do fill up on the weekends. Reservations are made on Campspot. The golf course is a 9-hole links style. They also have a driving range.

    Jefferson County Lake

Most beautiful RV campground near Rexburg

We just discovered this campground because we drove by it. I have no idea why it never comes up when you do a Google search for campgrounds near Rexburg. We are so glad we found it. It's by far the most beautiful RV campground in the whole area. Each spot has a concrete pad, a fire ring and a picnic table. It has water and electric but no sewer or dump station. However, Lakeside RV a block away has a dump station for $5 and there is a Sinclair nearby that also has a dump station for $5 and they refill propane tanks and I hear they have the best prices around. It's 10 minutes south of Rexburg. You can stay as long as you want but you can only book for 6 nights in a row in one spot. Then you can book another 6 nights at a different spot. We stayed for 11 nights. They have pit toilets that are surprisingly clean and don't smell, but no shower or laundry. We stayed in sites 8 and 12 and both were wonderful with shade trees and a beautiful view. I loved waking up in the morning to see a beautiful lake out my bedroom window. The lake is actually an aquafer (underground spring) so it's super clear and clean unlike most lakes. One side of the lake has a beach and my kids and I swam in the lake and they especially loved the big slide in the middle of the lake. We floated with tubes and noodles. They have kayaks and paddleboats to rent for $15 an hour. There is a walking path around the campground and a lovely little river that travels alongside the walking path. Each year in September they have Buddies Not Bullies event on the beach. We happened to be her for the event. They had lots of old cars and cool cars and you can vote on your favorites. My boys loved the burnout contest. They had music, a free bounce house for kids, food trucks, free HotWheels for kids, and the radio station was here.  My kids thought it was fun. The campground closes for the winter in October but they leave the walking trail open. $30 a night was cheaper than any other place around and this campground is far more beautiful than any other one in the area. Definitely will be back.

    Wakeside Lake RV Park

    Wonderful One night stay

It was a great location. Our site was large and shaded by beautiful mature trees. Very helpful and friendly staff/owners. We had a minor issue when we got there after hours. We tested the number provided and they were super quick to get back to us and help us problem solve. The only thing I didn’t love was that we had to share an electrical juncture box with our neighbors. So there was one 50 amp and one 30 amp on the box. They had already plugged into the 30 which we needed also. Neither of us had a dog bone attachment. I think maybe that just needs to be specified when booking and offering full hookups. We got the situation sorted because of kind neighbors and helpful staff. I would definitely stay again though. My kids loved playing in the lake.

Guide to Blackfoot

RV sites near Blackfoot, Idaho offer camping options throughout the year, though many operate seasonally from April through October. This agricultural region sits at approximately 4,500 feet elevation in the Snake River Plain, with summer temperatures often reaching the 90s. Local campgrounds primarily consist of RV parks with varying amenities, reflecting the area's status as a convenient stopover point between larger destinations.

What to do

Tubing adventures at Lava Hot Springs: Just 45 miles southeast of Blackfoot, enjoy river tubing right next to your campsite. "The river is not a lazy river float but an amazing short rapid filled 15 min rip through the towns river. There is a shuttle to bring you back to the drop in to do it over and over again or a short walk," notes a visitor at Lava Hot Springs Spa Motel & RV Park.

Hot springs exploration: Access thermal waters directly from some campgrounds. "At the back of the RV park is a trail you can walk along the river and will come to a place where you can enter the river right into a hot spring," reports one camper at Lava Hot Springs Spa Motel & RV Park.

Hiking and biking trails: Find accessible paths near camping areas. At Cowboy RV Park in Pocatello, visitors mention "Nearby hiking and biking trails" and "Great hikes/walks/bike path right next door."

What campers like

Proximity to urban conveniences: Most RV parks near Blackfoot provide easy access to town amenities. "The location is directly across the street from the hot spring pools. Our spot #6 was on the river. We walked across the street to the hot spring pools and a park where in the summer you can tube the river," explains a visitor at Lava Hot Springs.

Year-round availability: Several campgrounds maintain winter operations. Yellowstone Lakeside RV Park receives praise for its "Large, flat gravel park" and serves as "Perfect spot as a home base for a week" for exploring the region, though "Water off in most during winter."

Clean facilities: Bathroom quality varies significantly between parks. One reviewer highlighted Yellowstone Lakeside's "Cleanest and nicest bathrooms and laundry room ever" and "Beautiful, clean individual bathrooms like in a house, including tub-showers!"

What you should know

Weather considerations: The region experiences significant seasonal temperature variations. At Batiste Springs RV Park, a camper notes "The bad - it's a parking lot. It's real hot, no shade... Did I mention it's HOT??" while suggesting "the secret to combat the heat" is the nearby spring: "I got in! Bob said it was 52° and I believe it! But it made me so much more comfortable afterwards."

Site spacing: Many parks place RVs close together. One camper at Snake River RV Park & Campground observed it was "very crowded and the sites were too close together" and "We had reservations, but still ended up in an overflow area."

Dust and maintenance issues: Expect gravel lots with varying upkeep. A recent visitor to Snake River RV Park noted: "This place is very dusty and it's easy to see no gravel has been laid down for years. It rained the first night I was there, and the roads (and my site) were a muddy mess."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Some parks offer recreation areas for children. Snake River RV Park has a "Playground. Dog area. Cabins too" but one visitor cautioned their site "was next to the playground, and kids were out till after 10 pm."

Budget-friendly options: The City of Blackfoot RV Park provides affordable electric hookups at $20 per night with 18 spaces available. A reviewer mentions it's "a bike ride away from a very nice park on the lake with lots of play space for kids during the day."

Pool availability: Limited swimming options exist at area campgrounds. At Snake River RV Park, guests appreciate "all the amenities including showers, a pool, hot tub and playground" which was "nice having these amenities after several days without."

Tips from RVers

Full-hookup reliability: Most RV campgrounds near Blackfoot provide complete services. At Idaho Falls Luxury RV Park, "The concrete pads were level, long, and wide, and the sites were very roomy, with great tables and green grass. Each site had its WiFi, which was a nice touch."

Site leveling considerations: Finding flat parking is rarely an issue in this region. Batiste Springs RV Park offers "Full hook ups and a pretty creek to walk the dog along" with "easy pull through sites" according to one reviewer.

Cell service quality: WiFi varies between parks, but cellular coverage remains consistent. A visitor to Idaho Falls Luxury RV Park praised the "Excellent wifi" while another at Snake River RV noted "AT&T coverage good, with 4 Bars of LTE with service up to 14.5 MB/s."
