Several RV parks situated close to Brookhaven provide full hookup services for travelers. The Atlanta-Marietta RV Park in Marietta accommodates big rigs with both 50-amp and 30-amp electric hookups, water, and sewer connections. Stone Mountain Park Campground offers year-round RV sites in wooded settings with water and electric hookups. According to one visitor, "It's a nice spot for parking and set up but there is not really any privacy or separation between different RVs." Jones RV Park in Norcross features water and sewer hookups for RVs but has limited weekend availability, with most sites occupied by long-term residents.

Access to these RV parks varies significantly based on location and season. The RV sites closest to Atlanta experience considerable highway noise, especially those near major interstates. Most parks require advance reservations, particularly during sporting events and peak travel seasons. Stone Mountain Park Campground maintains gravel pads that may require leveling blocks according to some visitors. Many parks offer sanitary dump stations, but amenities like laundry facilities and propane fill service are less common. Pets are permitted at most locations with standard leash requirements. Several campgrounds have size restrictions and limited pull-through spaces, requiring advance planning for larger motorhomes and fifth wheels.

      Shoal Creek Campground

Beautiful lake front AND lake view camping spots; friendly staff

This was our first RV camping experience -- testing out a new pop-up camper during a two (2) night stay. Reservations were made through Campspot -- about $120 with fees. Communication with the main number for the campground went through the Margaritaville Campground nearby. Separate direct lines to the camp office and security were provided after arrival. Overall communication was good with both, and the staff were always polite.

We skipped our first night reservation due to high winds. We had concerns about damaging the pop-up roof during first-time setup. We decided, instead, to visit the campsite we'd reserved and pick up our paperwork. Site 56 was our first choice, and we were NOT happy with it. I selected the wrong size on the Campspot website -- a 20' campsite. It was not big enough to park both the camper AND the tow vehicle, AND the camper would've been facing away from the lake anyway with water and electrical hookups.

The next morning, we called to arrange for a different site. The camp office was very accommodating and blocked off four (4) available sites to choose from. We moved to site 55, which was a large circular pull through. Probably too big for our pop-up camper, but also probably too close to trees for a larger trailer or even a 5th wheel. The campsite was large, with the picnic table, fire ring and sand pit away from the camper. There was lots of room to set up and enjoy the beautiful lake views.

Electric and water hookups worked just fine. The camp office lent a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter free of charge. We had no issues with either service. The showers and bathrooms were about 2-3 sites down and up the road from 55, and they were reasonably clean for what they were.

I WAS disappointed that the main gate was broken, and the key code locks on the showers and bathrooms were duct taped shut. However, I did not feel that the campground was all that insecure, and there did not appear to be a lot of traffic coming through. Security DID come through overnight on Sunday morning -- probably due to some noise at 1-2 of the campsites across the cove from ours. Things quieted down after. The camp host was cleaning bathrooms on Sunday morning, and he was very polite when we talked. I saw him regularly coming through to check on campsites and clean up.

Overall, we liked this campground and will be going back. I will likely request to scout out some different sites in person before selecting one, as I don't want to be in a position to have to give up my spot when it's very busy.

Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground

      One of the BEST!

We were back at HLC this past weekend and, as always, top-notch park! We have tent camped for several years but recently upgraded to a new (to us) pop up and we had a blast!

We camped at site 26 (one of the newer sites) and it had full hookup (our PUP does not have a bathroom but does have a galley). The site has electric (50 amp and 30 amp service) as well as free cable TV!!

The sites at HLC are well spaced and the bath houses are spotless!!

The park staff is amazing and the camp hosts are always cleaning up and are available if you need anything!

HLC is our go-to spot for a weekend getaway because of the above-mentioned reasons and it is close to home!!

      Winding Waters RV Resort

      More vacation than camping

Winding Waters is a new, huge, and beautiful RV resort. This is not a campground, but a resort-style RV park with no shortage of amenities and activities. Nightly rate is very reasonable for all the bells and whistles you get. If you are just looking for a cheap, relaxing overnight with no frills, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a fun family vacation spot to bring the kids, look no further.

Just outside Atlanta, the location is prime and beautiful, along the Etowah river. You can fish, kayak, or just relax. There is no shortage of activities for children. The resort's pool is a huge beach-style pool with a hot tub and even a huge waterslide. There is a large playground and huge dog run. They have a large clubhouse and ball courts.

We booked one of their cheaper sites, a classic pull-thru site. To say the least, it was the TIGHTEST pull thru site we have ever booked. We have never had to adjust and shimmy around in a pull thru site before, the whole point is to pull in once and bam you're set up. We could barely even squeeze our tow vehicle (10ft bed dually) into the designated parking spot without sticking out. Even the back in sites would have been a little more roomy. But hey, for all the amenities (that we didn't even use since we were just stopping over for a night) the price isn't awful. For a bit more, you can get your own private dog run or patio furniture.

We were pretty overwhelmed with the sheer amount of RVs in this place. Mostly all big rigs too. It was packed and they have so many sites. So many kids running around, and our neighbor's dog was off leash and ran over to my dog when I tried to take him potty. There are no walking paths in the resort, so people (and kids) are forced to run around on the streets, which are pretty narrow, winding, and uncomfortable to drive a big rig on. Just in general A LOT going on, very busy place. Great place if you like resort style parks, but not fun for an overnight. Since it's new there's no shade at all, so I can't imagine how hot it is in the summer and with all the big rigs blasting their a/c, they may run into electrical issues. But they planted some trees which should alleviate that a bit.

The rules list is pretty strict and extensive, with a bunch of extra fees for weird things like early check-in and personal golf carts. Make sure you read through everything thoroughly before you book. Some rules might be deal breakers for some people. Staff was very kind to us and we wish them the best with their new RV resort!

      Twin Lakes RV Park

A place to park with no bath, no amenities and mostly long term residents

The 5 star reviews are perplexing. We're not new to RVing and have stayed in plenty of lovely mom& pop parks. This is a family owned campground, but it is basically a parking lot with hookups for people who live there long term. Our site was on the side of a road about 50 yards away from the Dump Station. It was referred to as a premium, pull through rather than what it is... a pull to the side of the road. There was no grass or picnic table. I'll post pictures that show the condition of our site and how close the spots are to one another. The pictures online and YouTube videos of this park are very deceiving. The grassy areas beside and between the lakes can only be accessed by walking though other camper's sites.

** Use caution navigating the park because the roads at the back have no way to turn around if you get back there.

      Talking Rock Motorcoach Resort

Spacious Luxury Resort with Stunning Mountain Views

This brand-new luxury RV resort doesn't disappoint. A large, spacious site, big rig friendly, with full hookups and stunning mountain views, creates a serene and peaceful park. Located in the heart of wineries, biking and hiking trails, and a multitude of things to see and do, not to mention an abundance of places to eat and shop, all close by. The park features a beautiful clubhouse, perfect for groups or individuals looking to socialize, chat, or participate in activities sponsored by the resort. Live music on the weekends and other social events, several pickleball courts, a nice pool and hot tub, on-site laundry, and more round out the amenities in the resort.

Moved to site 47(Pull-Thru) but due to road slope pull-thru is un-usable. Lower numbered sites(less than 30) appear somewhat better. Empty camp ground host side byhind 47 cannot be used unless site 47 is emprty due to sloping road. One single use dump station. One campground host presently in the park- their site was not marked. Appears that most sites are back-in and set sideways to a hillside and lakefront leaving very little level space for chairs. Fire rings are frequently located 12-20 feet away from picnic table and 3 to 9 feet below site level on a slope. Reservation Software used by office was down upon Saturday arrival with no IT help until Monday- two days away leaving office staff frustrated and using their own phone to access the reservation system customers use instead of management side of software. Staff stated it goes down frequently with no IT support on weekends. Six bathhouses in park. Bathhouse nearest beach closed awaiting replacement of fixtures after renovation. Shower has outdated fixtures- several shower heads had significant mineral deposits restricting flow. Men's side closed at another bathhouse. Many shower stalls had no hook or fixture to hang a towel or clothing. Several showers had broken shower valves making them unusable. Stayed 9 nights and did not see anyone working on bathhouses. Beach area parking is limited to 6 or 7 spaces and one handicap space however, there is a larger parking lot a little further away. Bathhouse showers have a pull string valve next to the shower head that had to be held down to get water with many strings broken, missing and too short to allow shorter people, children, or handicaped wheel-chair use. Some sites have precarious/dangerous sloping driveways for RVs to get into. Newly installed sites are near completion but they make sites very close together. Many sites do not have a fire pit and many do not have a grill. Many sites arer too small to park a second vhicle even if the camper is small. Parking on dirt or grass is prohibited by rules but appears to be selectively enforced. The campground has a boat ramp and reasonably large parking area. Extra careful site selection is warranted. Four docks in River Forks Park. Firewood is available at the office. CHECK-IN: 01:00 PM CHECK-OUT: 12:00 PM RIG: 42ft- 17,000 lb 5th Wheel"

      Margaritaville

      Fancy resort

We stayed here for two nights on our way from Virginia to Florida. It is a very nice family friendly vacation resort rather than overnight stay. But we enjoyed all the amenities. We had a pave site full hookup pull thru with lake view. Very easy to get in and out, private and quiet, we had a picnic table, fire ring and bbq grill. I was most excited about drink cart every evening!! We were here on Monday and Tuesday, extremely quiet. Empty beach/restaurant area and beach bar. You will have to drive around the resort or rent a golf cart. They also have a tram from rv resort to water park. There is a one time $20 fee per vehicle to enter, pay at gate. The weather wasn’t the best, wish we could have used the boat ramp to launch our kayak.

    Guide to Brookhaven

RV parks near Brookhaven, Georgia offer varying experiences from suburban conveniences to wooded retreats. Located in the northern metro Atlanta region, Brookhaven campers can expect hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and mild winters where nighttime temperatures occasionally drop below freezing. Most campgrounds in this area maintain gravel or concrete pads, with varying degrees of shade coverage depending on location.

    What to do

Hiking at Stone Mountain: Stone Mountain Park Campground provides access to numerous trails with varying difficulty levels around the 825-foot granite monolith. According to one visitor, "There's all kind of activities for the kids. They have free transportation within the park/campground area. Helpful staff too."

Fishing opportunities: Twin Lakes RV Park offers fishing in their small on-site lakes. One camper noted, "They have several swings overlooking the lake for a very relaxing view. You're allowed to fish in the lake, but no swimming or kayaking. They have a really cool trail that goes behind the lake that's a mile long."

Paddleboarding: Some waterfront sites at Stone Mountain Park Campground allow for direct water access. As one reviewer shared, "My husband and son enjoyed fishing and paddle boarding right behind our site. There was a lot to see and do at Stone Mountain."

Sports activities: RV parks near major sporting venues offer convenient access. One visitor at Atlanta-Marietta RV Park commented, "I use this park strictly for sporting events as it's close by and is relatively quiet considering how close it is to the highway."

    What campers like

Proximity to Atlanta attractions: Many Brookhaven area RV parks provide easy access to city amenities while offering quieter surroundings. As one camper at Atlanta South RV Resort explained, "This park is located just south of Atlanta and is a great place to overnight on your way to a destination, or for more long term stay for out of town workers. Lots of shopping and good restaurants nearby."

Wooded privacy: Despite being near urban areas, some campgrounds maintain natural surroundings. A camper at Stone Mountain Park Campground shared, "We camped with my parents in the RV section of the campground, it was beautifully wooded and offered plenty of space/privacy from other campsites and was still a short walk from the bathhouse."

Family-friendly amenities: Several RV parks offer specific facilities for families. A visitor to Winding Waters RV Resort reported, "There are plenty of things to do for a family...lazy river pool, pickle ball, etc. There are kids, electric scooters, electric everything flying around the park morning to evening."

Helpful staff: Customer service matters in many campground reviews. At Sweetwater Creek RV Reserve, one camper appreciated, "When I made my reservation, I could not get a 50A site so reserved a 30A site. I called Sweetwater Creek and with no fuss, they rearranged things so that I could have a site with 50A. Wonderful service!"

    What you should know

Reservation policies vary: Some RV parks near Brookhaven have limited availability for short-term stays. At Jones RV Park, a visitor explained, "Mostly long term tenants, but a handful of short term sites. We stayed due to the proximity to the city. It's cheap and safe, but not somewhere you want to hang out all day."

Site spacing concerns: Many metropolitan RV parks have limited space between sites. A camper at Sweetwater Creek RV Reserve noted, "Sweetwater Creek RV Reserve is definitely urban. The sites aren't much wider than the trailers. You definitely won't sit outside for the scenery."

Road conditions: Pavement quality varies at campgrounds. One reviewer at Sweetwater Creek RV Reserve reported, "I gave this four stars instead of five because the pavement is so deteriorated that it is almost moon craters."

Noise considerations: Highway proximity can affect some campgrounds. A visitor to Atlanta-Marietta RV Park mentioned, "There's not much to say about this campground. It was loud because of the road noise. No amenities. You're paying for location to the stadium and to Atlanta."

    Tips for camping with families

Pool access: Several campgrounds offer swimming facilities for children. At Winding Waters RV Resort, a visitor described, "The resort's pool is a huge beach-style pool with a hot tub and even a huge waterslide. There is a large playground and huge dog run."

Transportation options: Some larger parks provide internal transit. At Stone Mountain Park Campground, one visitor noted, "They have free transportation within the park/campground area. Helpful staff too."

Pet-friendly areas: Many campgrounds accommodate family pets with dedicated spaces. At Riverside Estates RV Park, a camper shared, "The park is very kid friendly, there is a dog pen area, there are dog waste bag stations."

Security features: Parents often appreciate campgrounds with safety measures. A visitor at Riverside Estates RV Park mentioned, "It is gated and there is a fob for everything for safety. It is a great place the manager here is awesome."

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Prepare for uneven pads at some locations. A reviewer at Stone Mountain Park Campground mentioned, "The only downfall was that the trailer needed a lot of leveling. But it was totally worth it."

After-hours arrival protocols: Some parks have specific processes for late check-ins. A visitor at Atlanta-Marietta RV Park shared, "We've used this campground few times passing through. It's a great midway point for us. Friendly nice staff and after hours box for late arrivals."

Narrow driving paths: Interior roads can be challenging at some resorts. A visitor to Winding Waters RV Resort warned, "There are no walking paths in the resort, so people (and kids) are forced to run around on the streets, which are pretty narrow, winding, and uncomfortable to drive a big rig on."

Site selection strategy: Choose sites carefully based on specific needs. At Twin Lakes RV Park, one camper advised, "We really lucked up on our site(#H) because it was right on the end and it was pretty close to the lake. The only downfall to our site was we were right next to the dump site."
