One of my favorite spots

We try to get to Ft McAllister SP as often as we can. Not too far from Savannah and also close to the other barrier islands. Large, shaded sites, with breezes off the water to keep cool even in summer. hiking, a museum and boat dock. Nice seafood restaurant just outside the park.

Nice Park

park sites were good. trails along the creeks. fishing available with GA license. site floods during rain but quickly dryes up when rained stopped. nice museum and grounds sorounding the fort. we found some pottery in the marsh we turned into the park. would highlyrecomend

Established Historical Campsites

There is access to gorgeous views and awesome activities. Small hiking trails and bike trails make this a great place for families. Restrooms are available at the campsites, as well as stoves and sand areas for tents. RV and tent camping available!

Interesting place to visit

The sites were spacious and easy to maneuver around. Bathroom and showers were very clean and well kept. Visitor Center was really interesting and the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful.

Water and relaxation

Stumbled on this by accident! It takes a bit to get here but it is very nice. Had lots of deer and raccoons around…and depending on the time of year you might see a gator on the drive in. Very relaxing and surrounded by history and water fun. Mosquitos and gnats were a bit prevalent but it is a marsh area.

Great place !!

Nice peaceful place , friendly campers and staff , Love the sites , restroom clean .

Halloween night

Our first camping trip together, we thought Halloween would be fun. How much fun? The sites decorated for the holiday, and the kids trick or treated! It was so much fun to see them all dressed up. The fishing pier was nice, and there was canoes and kiacks for rent. The museum was amazing. Make sure you plan at least a half day or more to walk the outside that the confederate daughters have refurbished. The bunkers, the cannons, the ovens to heat the cannonballs are all an walk down history. It makes it come alive.

Fort McAllister
