This park is one of the biggest we’ve been to really great sites that are all well-maintained. Beautiful park with beautiful nature trails the beautiful beach! Just absolutely beautiful! 😂 my one complaint is the park staff run that place like it’s for Knox. One night we had a park ranger searching through a car with a flashlight while we were parked near the beach charging our phones. We confronted him and he got all weird got right in his park truck and left
Great campground. Clean bathrooms with private showers. Laundry available. Two good sized playgrounds for kids and a really huge splash pad.
Pool is no longer open. Closed permanently.
Some sites are more private than others
Highly recommend staying here if you’re thinking about it.
Great private spots, concrete/paved sites, clean restrooms with hot showers, great on site nature trails leading to small river beaches, and just across from the campground is a 6 mile (each way) way nature trail that was so beautiful it felt like we were in a ferry tail
We’ve been living in our camper now for months and have stayed at state parks up and down the east coast and this was the worst of them.
The park itself is beautiful but terribly outdated and and need of major upkeep in my opinion.
The restrooms had prison like mirrors made of metal not glass making it near impossible to shave..
The shower layout was weird and not private to others. The showers themselves had broken handles, spouts and shower curtains/poles.. we just used the camper showers after using these restroom.
The rest of the park was beautiful as far as landscaping/nature trails and the quietness goes, but it desperately needs better upkeep. Broken benches, unsafe docks and playgrounds.
The sites themselves were great in size. Not very private, but better than some places. I would recommend a site on the water as it is beautiful to wake up to.
The city of Jackson has an opportunity to have a BEAUTIFUL city park but the funding/want is clearly not there.
Side notes about Jackson… Be prepared to probably blow a tire driving on the roads/highways there. Pot holes EVERYWHERE. We felt like we were driving in a foreign country. Had to stay an extra night to replace a blown tire and needed a suspension repair.
Beautiful spots on which I believe is considered an island. Wild life is everywhere!
We’ve seen deer everywhere who will walk right up to your camper. Campsites have electric and water and from what I can see are all pull-through and level sites.
My one negative review are the provided showers. The shower heads are low, and more of a stream like a hose. The bathrooms do seem to be cleaned regularly, but mud gets tracked in immediately on the mopped floors. The water was hot! So that’s a plus. I think I’ll shower in the camper next time.
We booked just two nights but as soon as we got here we decided to stay longer.
Larry the park ranger is extremely nice and helpful. Plus our dogs loved his dog treats!
Bathrooms are cleaned regularly and showers are HOT!
A nice spot to sit near the river and a short hiking path.
A little out of the way from things but not too far.
Great spot! Saving this to my list for if I ever travel back this way.
Nice open spots right next to a river! Water and Electric Hookups on site and a dump station off site.
Pretty hard getting spots here but we many to get one!
A great campground just outside of DC - Tucked into the middle of a park where there’s no noise out light pollution.
-1 star because we requested a site big enough for a 28’ trailer and 1 vehicle. The spot clearly is not big enough for a trailer and a vehicle. We managed to fit our car on the lot but had to back into branches. The park host told us the vehicle needed to be parked on the pad and that we needed to move the vehicle, but there isn’t any additional parking spots in the campground. I mentioned parking in the vacant spot next to us, but they didn’t want that. I mentioned parking in a cleared spot just off of the road across from us and they also didn’t want that.
I would recommend the park update their online map / camp spots so it accurately lets visitors know if they can or can’t fit the vehicle with the trailer.
This is a great campground full of amenities! Easy pull in spots with plenty of room. Really friendly staff too! We might stay another night just because we like it so much.
