Fort McAllister in the fall

We love Fort McAllister and have been here several times. This time we were in ADA site 1 (which was the only available site when we booked). This site is right across from a bathhouse in about the middle of the campground. The bathrooms here are all private and clean. This campground is great because it is right on the Ogeechee river and there is actually a dock to fish from and to tie up your boat if you bring one. There is also a boat ramp and area for trailer parking. The wildlife in this park are one of the best things about it because deer and raccoons just walk right through the sites. There are also lots of squirrels and armadillos to be seen. Additionally this park has a museum and is at the location of a Civil War Fort which can be toured. I’m addition to campsites there are also some very nice cottages available for rent.
