    Friendly, Clean

Good experience, this was the first campground we ever visited with our RV but it was smooth. Price was okay (I guess), front desk lady was very friendly, slot was spacey and the pool seemed nice although we didn't use it (what a shame)

Really enjoyed this spacious park. Great biking, easy access to boating, kayaking, and paddle boarding. close to beaches and shopping so there’s something for everybody to do.

    Stuck Without Options!

3 campers and two RVs crammed into overflow. NO full hookups as indicated over the phone. Showers NOT in the “bath house” adjacent to these crummy sites. The dumpsite is between the office and the fence. This requires you to back into position or drive down a narrow path and make 3 tight turns. Florida has NO dump sites at rest or service areas! What????

    Quiet and Beautiful

We stayed in one of the electrical sights along the river. We made use of the fire pit and enjoyed the sunset. The other guests were friendly and we saw a bunch of dogs around.

The property manager was highly responsive when we requested the gate code via email. The gate closes at 7:30 pm but with the code there is no issue.

We did not visit the on-site bathrooms nor did we use the dish cleaning station.

The glamping tents were just that - a tent built onto a platform.

We truly enjoyed our peaceful visit to the park and highly recommend staying along the water.

    Hurricane Ian Escape

The campground staff was great: while going from 15% to 100% occupancy in 24 hours, they still kept up the cleanliness support, and friendliness. It was a great experience in a trying time like evacuating for a hurricane. We did hear the lions from our campsite. Sites were decent sized. Some were gravel, most weren't.

    Mosquito Haven

When we were pulling in we noticed a train of 7-8 RV’s and trailers leaving. Didn’t think much of it. Went ahead and checked in, got to our camping site, etc. That’s when we noticed that it was literally swarming with mosquitos. Pulled out 3 thermacells but the swarms were so bad they didn’t even touch it. Couldn’t even open the trailer door for a split second without 10 mosquitos flying in. Ended up packing up and leaving within the hour and getting a nearby hotel for the night. Manager refused a refund, and suggested we go to John Prince Park in the future. Have never had such a terrible experience with KOA in the past. 0 stars if I could.

    Great Location

First of all, this was a great location to visit the lion country safari. We stayed in a tent site.

Pros: The facilities were well kept and nice enough for a campground. People were not too noisy. The lions were plenty noisy, and it was so cool to hear them in the morning!

Cons: There was no privacy whatsoever between sites and the sites were very close together. The lampposts were plentiful and bright which isn't so great when sleeping in a tent. Also, no fire rings.

    5 summer months

So, we were here a bit long term in the summer. Staying here in the summer is as bad as being in Vermont in winter. You need a reason to be there and sadly we did.
First off, waking up to lions roaring and bonobos scream in the morning was freaking amazing! I will treasure this memory for the rest of my life. The facilities are aging but are clean. The ladies in the front office were awesome and accommodating. We purchased a new RV while there and they had no issues moving us and making sure we were good with moving up from a 30 Amp to a 50 Amp site. At $99/night it is expensive and by not having the facilities of a KOA Holiday and being so far away from the Highway as a KOA Journey I can't give it 5 stars but, it is damn close.

Nice Park, Right next to safari park

Great location near the Safari park with discounted tickets available. I recommend staying here if you are going to the Safari Park and need a place to stay. Big Rig friendly with nice pull through sites and a wilderness feel that I enjoyed. :)

    Quick Overnight

Spent one quick night here. This is a campground with mostly full timers, but we got a nice easy spot to back in and get out easily. Staff very friendly! Very respectful of COVID as well. Always appreciate that.

    Real Lion Alarm Clock

We tent camped here. Site small and sandy but location is the key to this KOA. Right next to Lion Country Safari. We are used to hearing birds and frogs when we camp, but here it is lions...and other noises I was not able to identify. Weather great to explore park in late Winter. Kids loved it and we will be back!

Surprisingly Empty for the Start of Memorial Weekend!

I lucked into this hidden gem of a campground on my way north from Fort Lauderdale.

The staff at the gate was super friendly and I was pleasantly surprised by the availability of sites because I rolled in on the Friday at the start of a holiday weekend.

There is a fishing pier, bike path along the river, boat launch area, communal restrooms, laundry room (although washing machine was out of order), and outdoor dish pit.

I really enjoyed an evening stroll around the ponds where they have "glamping" tents set up.

This campground is built on the site of an innovative stormwater catchment and treatment area, so it had some interesting info to learn about efforts to clean and control stormwater flow in the region.

All in all, can't be upset about a campground with plenty of space and rainbow skies at sunset!

    Very Friendly Park Staff

This is an older campground with a lot of full-time RVers. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and will do whatever they can to make you satisfied. This is a campground in the middle of the city, so don’t expect a lot of quiet, as this is how it is in a city. We spent 14 months here sheltering from Covid, and it was extremely convenient to all of the Fort Lauderdale area. We never had a single issue during our stay.

    Great family campground

This campground that sits just outside of the only drive through animal safari with over 1,000 different types of animals, is great for families to enjoy. This has all the amenities as a typical KOA campground except you get a bonus by hearing the Lions roar in the morning. The campground is gated during evening hours with the gate closing at 10:00 pm, so you will need to get a gate key card with a $20.00 deposit which will be refunded when you turn the key back at the end of your stay. The staff are very friendly and the campground is very clean. They also do a great job with abiding by the CDC guidelines for Covid-19. The Raccoons like to come out in the evening, so make sure you pick up you garbage at night. The rabbits were having fun playing in the primitive camping area every evening and early morning hours. They offer cabin and platform tent rentals for slightly more than a tent site. There are many seasonal campers from the North along with weekend campers trying to escape the everyday stress in their lives. We live 1 hour south of this campground but we will definitely be going back fir weekend trips.

    Surrounded by water lilies...

Adorable, enchanting island camping amongst water lilies, turtles, white ibis’, blue heron and friendly folks. Each of us are seeking “home” in nature. A variety of camping choices here. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice paved and gravel trails throughout the small, but beautiful property. Near highway 95 for convenience. We brought our queen sized airmatress and it fits with plenty of space for changing clothes inside the adorable platform canvas tent home. We recently watched, “ Hell on Wheels” , a series on Netflix, about people who lived in a canvas makeshift tent cities who worked by day then found comfort in their tent homes and campfires by night. In the ole’ west, folks lived in canvas tents while they built the railroad. We are reflecting on the joy of tent life while discovering the USA. The canvas tents at Phipps Park, Martin County are perfect for group rentals and ideal for beginners. All in all, this is a well kept property, worthy of staying awhile if you are passing through.
