Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park Campground

    Awesome campground and facilities!

We stayed here a couple of years ago while visiting family and friends in Lake City, about 20 miles away.  I was very impressed with the facilities, very clean and well kept.  Site 19 is a long pull through with plenty of room for a big rig and tow vehicle.  Picnic table and fire ring available.  Beautiful trees with Spanish moss give the park that old Florida feel.  This is Florida, so expect humidity and some bugs.  Not a lot of breeze at our site but very shady.  Staff was very courteous and helpful, work campers rode by occasionally and would carry off trash if needed.  There is a nice museum and camp store/gift shop onsite also.  Cell service was good, didn't try the tv.  There is no big stores nearby, just a Dollar General in White Springs near the entrance.  Definitely a thumbs up.

    Perry KOA

One of the Best KOA/Private Campgrounds We've Stayed

The campground(CG) was easy to find. Check-in was quick and very friendly and we headed to back-in site E-27 for our overnight stay. This premium site is probably one of the most spacious in the CG, especially on the utilities side, where a swing bench looks out to a huge field. There was a nice patio, furniture, and propane grill that unfortunately, due to the January cold weather snap, we did not get to use. There’s a large tree on this site, so satellite could be iffy, but they have cable TV, plus you get a good amount of OTA channels. The sites in this KOA are well-spaced in comparison to others we’ve stayed in the past. They have a nice camp store that even has a humidor with cigars. They also seem to be the town’s“go-to” place for propane fills. Water pressure was good at about 50 PSI, and we got 3 bars on Verizon. We were in the far back corner of the CG and had to carefully plan our departure to avoid tight turns and other campers departing to get to the exit. Perry has your major amenities. Get a site in the back area away from the road noise. As this was easily one of the best KOAs and private CGs we’ve stayed in, we would definitely come back.

    Valdosta Oaks RV Park

    Great location, Awesome overnight

We stopped here in May of 2020 enroute to leaving Florida. The location was the perfect stopping point for overnighting. It is located close to I-75 so very easy to get off the highway and back on in the morning.

The Park: 100 very level sites, full hook ups, easy to get in and out of. Plenty of space for big rigs. They have WiFi too! They had public restrooms and shower houses at the office. The park is really pretty, very clean. Most sites were pull through sites.

The owner and staff were very kind! We occasional heard traffic and thought we heard 1 train at night. We really enjoyed our stay and we will stay again.

Due to the virus we are not using public restrooms at this time so I don’t have any photos of them.

    Suwannee River State Park Campground

Wonderful option for tent or rv camping

Electric and water hook ups. Camping sites are large enough for 2 tents. Shaded well. There’s a decent boat ramp with over flow parking for the truck and trailer. Great for kayaking and Small boating. Trails are great for hiking and a few for mountain biking. Neat cemetery back in the grass lands near ranger station, lots of tortoises to see. Pet friendly for domestic pets. Ranger station was very helpful and knowledgeable about trails for longer distance biking. Wood for sale. Hot water bath house as well. Site has picnic tables. Very clean area.

    River Park RV Park

    Visiting family

We chose this park because it was close to family we were visiting.

    Pros:

    Full hookups

    Laundry mat

    Showers

    Dog park

    Close to interstate

    Cons:

    Uneven sites

    Very close together

Tiny concrete pad, very little grass

No picnic table or fire ring

If you sit outside, your just looking at the side of the RV right next to you.

Lots of fulltimers with pretty rundown sites

Overly concerned about the grass while letting the rest of the park run down

Nothing worth getting pics of here

We will try a different park when we go back.

    Tallahassee RV Park

    Very Nice RV Park

We stayed nine days in Campsite 39, a gravel pull through with more than enough room for our 27' truck camper and jeep tow vehicle. We used 30 amp power and it was steady. The power, sewer and water connections were conveniently located. We were impressed by the cleanliness of this RV park; there are many pine trees and the staff worked hard to keep the sites and roads neat and raked. The laundry is reasonable at$2 wash and$1.50 dry and all the machines were clean and worked properly. We did not use the pool, restrooms or showers but they were all clean and in good condition. A Walmart Supercenter, Publix Market, Costco and Bass Pro are 4 miles away. Wakulla Springs State Park is 23 miles away and worth a visit. We enjoyed our time here and will stay again.

    Nice campground

The roads and sites are paved. The wifi is not bad, but no cable TV if that is important. The staff is nice. Grounds are kept up well. The trees are beautiful here with the Spanish moss. Kind of pricey for the limited amenities. The sites are also a little snug for big rigs, but doable. Would stay again

Madison RV Resort and Golf Course

    Enjoyable, quiet and well-kept

Very nice resort. We don’t golf (this was the closest place to our grandkids!) so I can’t speak about the golf course. The RV resort is wonderful! Friendly and polite staff and neighbors. Clean laundry and bathhouse. A large dog park. My only suggestion would be to divide the park into “little dogs, big dog” sections. Big rig friendly. We would most definitely recommend this resort!

Guide to Pinetta

RV camping around Pinetta, Florida offers year-round access with temperatures averaging 50-70°F in winter and 75-95°F in summer. The area sits at an elevation of approximately 105 feet above sea level in Florida's north-central region near the Georgia border. Most rv parks near Pinetta provide satellite reception due to minimal tree coverage, with overnight rates typically ranging from $32-$52 depending on season and hookup requirements.

What to do

Golfing opportunities: At Madison RV Resort and Golf Course, campers can enjoy the well-maintained 9-hole course with packages available. "We enjoyed golfing on their 9-hole course. Our nightly rate is based on the monthly rate and golf package," noted one camper who has returned multiple years.

Fishing access: The region offers several ponds for catch-and-release fishing. One camper at Long Branch Rest & Ride RV & Horse Park mentioned "a catch & release pond" among the amenities, making it a convenient option for anglers staying at the campground.

Day trips to Valdosta: Located about 30 minutes from Pinetta, Valdosta offers additional recreation options. A camper staying at Cecil Bay RV Park noted, "If you're a foodie or desire a robust touristy experience, this is probably not the destination for you," suggesting day trips to nearby Valdosta for more amenities and activities.

What campers like

Adult-oriented atmosphere: Multiple campgrounds cater specifically to mature campers. One reviewer at Madison RV Resort and Golf Course appreciated that "This CG is definitely not a kids' destination (big pro for us) as there is no playground nor much to do for the young ones. The CG is more adult-oriented with a pickleball court and activities such as group walks or special events like golf tournaments/leagues, karaoke, and potlucks."

Pet amenities: Dog parks are a highlight at several campgrounds. A camper at Madison RV Resort mentioned "A huge bonus for us was their large (about 2 acres) fenced dog park. This year they fenced off an area for small dogs."

Ease of access: Many campgrounds offer convenient highway access. At Eagles Roost RV Resort, a camper noted, "This is a great stopover since it has easy access to I-75 on the FL-GA line. The sites are shady and have many pull through concrete pad sites that are well maintained."

What you should know

Train noise considerations: Some campgrounds have nearby train tracks. A Madison RV Resort camper shared, "If you are allergic to train noise, a train track is adjacent to the CG. Trains run periodically normally during the day. Otherwise, this is a quiet park considering its size."

Highway noise levels: Proximity to interstates means traffic sounds at some parks. A reviewer at Cecil Bay RV Park mentioned, "Only downside - very close to the interstate noise, but we slept fine."

Cell coverage variations: Connectivity varies between campgrounds. At Madison RV Resort, one camper reported, "WiFi is better than normal for this sized CG and we got two bars on Verizon but put up our WeBoost for more capability."

Tips for camping with families

Limited children's amenities: Most parks have few dedicated children's facilities. A Madison RV camper noted, "The CG was definitely not a kids destination as there was no playground nor much to do for the young ones, to include they aren't allowed to operate the golf carts."

Pool restrictions: Swimming pools may have limited hours. At Eagles Roost RV Resort, a camper mentioned, "The pool closes when the office closes, which sucks because in the summer there is still 3 hrs of daylight left (a little disheartening)."

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Some campgrounds offer opportunities to see local animals. At Lake Park Campground, a camper enjoyed "Lots of ducks that roam the park that were friendly and other wildlife to see."

Tips from RVers

Sewer connection placement: Be prepared for varying hookup locations. At Lake Park Campground, a camper noted, "The sites are also a little snug for big rigs, but doable."

Site levelness varies: Prepare leveling equipment for some parks. At The Oaks RV Park, a camper noted, "Sites are level with picnic tables. Super nice couple owns and maintains this campground."

Big rig accommodation: Several parks can handle larger RVs with appropriate sites. At Valdosta Oaks RV Park, a camper reported, "There's not a lot here but doesn't matter as it's a great overnight stop. Even ground huge spots. Your neighbors are far enough away."

Satellite reception conditions: Most parks offer clear satellite access. A Madison RV camper mentioned, "We had a clear shot to the southern sky for satellite plus quite a few OTA channels."
