This campground seems easier to book than other Custer State Park campgrounds and we aren't sure why. In comparison to other park campgrounds, it is wooded, has spacious sites, and is located near a gorgeous lake. The showerhouse was clean and the campground was well cared for with kind hosts. The walk around Stockade Lake was a great hike with some beautiful views, especially near sunset.

This lakeside campground is a gem. With 2 loops, one close to the river, and one a short walk away, it's a nice smaller alternative to other campgrounds in Red Feather. The lake is beautiful and great for fishing. The upper loop has flush toilets and power hookups and the lower lakeside loop has pit toilets and no hookups. The last few miles to the campground were dirt road but it wasn't too washboard-like on our visit.

This small campground is a beautiful spot on the river. Sites along the road have no shade but you can retreat to the river to cool off. Watch for rattlesnakes in this area- we heard the screams of hikers who encountered one ahead of us on a local hike. As this is one of the first campgrounds on 14, there are lots of people who drive through looking for spots so that is a small downside.

This was our second time camping at Colorado campground. It seems to meet the needs of campers of all types from the biggest rigs to the tent campers, they can all find a home here. The size of the sites, especially on the outer ring, can't be beat. We like the natural beauty in the campground and surrounding area as well as easy access to hiking.

This campground is a nice small size which keeps it fairly quiet. The trail to the reservoir is not easy or quick but it's worth it for the views and the fishing. The last 4 miles of road before the campground are dirt and a bit washboard so tighten your screws and make sure everything is secure.

Now we know why it's so hard to get a spot at this campground. Not only is the lake beautiful, the sites are well maintained, the bathrooms are clean, and the fishing is good!

Reverend's Ridge campground is one of our all time favorites. Even though the campground was fully booked, the campground was clean and quiet. We appreciate the big shower houses, recycling, and the site layouts that feel big with lots of trees. There is a trailhead right at the campground that offers a great hike with beautiful scenery.

If you don't like driving on washboard dirt roads, this isn't the campground for you as all roads in are dirt. We camped in the Witcher's cove campground in September. The campground was not crowded during the week but got busy Friday through the weekend. This is a beautiful place to camp and is perfect for fishing, kayaking, and other water activities but not great for hiking. The campground is not well maintained in that fire rings are full of ash and garbage, tables are dirty, and bathrooms are not cleaned. We only saw a ranger go through the campground 1 time during our stay. The lack of rangers may be a seasonal issue but it resulted in many campers not following rules which can compromise the experience of others. The campground is windy so keep your canopies weighted or don't use them.

This is our all time favorite campground. The hosts are friendly and helpful but also enforce the rules, the bathrooms are clean, the sites are a good size, and the location is beautiful. We camped in site A39 in a hard sided pop-up and used the electric and water hookups.

We had a fairly spacious site but beware back to back sites when booking. Some sites looked like a pull through that was split into two sites which is not great for privacy. Most campers had large RVs and came with their boats. This seems like a perfect camping spot for boaters since all the activities are on the lake but if you don't have a boat, you might want to consider another spot. We brought a kayak and it was not the best lake for kayaking as the water is rough from boaters who were frequently inconsiderate. The shoreline is very rocky and sharp so bring sturdy water shoes. The campsite is exceptionally windy so best not to pop-up a shade structure unless you want to watch it fly away.

What a gem! This campground has spacious sites like none I've ever seen. The pit toilets are the cleanest I've ever used and the campground is well maintained. We loved how close it was to Manitou lake which was great for fishing and birdwatching.

Wellington lake is a perfect family camping spot for anyone who likes to fish, kayak or otherwise play in the water. The sites book quickly but are worth it. We had 2 sites, one on the water and one off and that was a great balance. The sites don't have hookups and the campground doesn't have drinking water so bring all you need. The flies were miserable when we were there and didn't seem to respond to any sort of bug spray but citronella oil seems to help a little. Make sure everything in your rig is screwed down tightly as the 10 mile road to the campground is washboard bumpy beyond belief.

This small campground is great for those looking for a quick getaway near Denver. It's pretty quiet as they don't allow fires or alcohol although I'm not sure the alcohol is enforced. Great access to trails for hiking nearby. The shower houses are super clean which is a nice bonus.
