Dockweiler Beach RV Park's oceanfront setting accommodates pets with designated pet-friendly sites throughout the parking lot-style camping area. Located in Playa Del Rey, this RV campground sits directly on the beach with full hookup options for campers traveling with dogs. Malibu Creek State Park Campground also welcomes pets at their tent and RV sites, offering more natural surroundings with picnic tables and access to hiking trails. Both locations maintain standard pet policies requiring leashes and proper waste disposal. Antfarm LA provides a more secluded pet-friendly camping experience with just two tent and cabin sites in a gated property where campers report barely seeing another soul during their stay. Most facilities have clean restrooms and showers, though amenities vary significantly between the beachfront RV experience and more primitive camping options. The RV spaces at Dockweiler are packed closely together but offer the rare opportunity for beachfront camping with pets in the Los Angeles area.

Hiking opportunities abound for campers with dogs at several locations near West Hollywood. Gould Mesa Trail Campground offers free primitive camping along a stream with pit toilets and no running water, accessible via an easy 2-mile hike on a level trail with stream crossings. Dogs can enjoy the water access during hot weather, though hikers and bikers frequently pass through the campground throughout the day. For those seeking ocean access, Dockweiler's beachfront location includes fire rings directly on the beach where pets can join their owners. Campers should note the constant noise from LAX airport flights overhead at Dockweiler, while those staying at more remote sites like Antfarm LA might encounter wildlife including rattlesnakes and coyotes, requiring extra vigilance with pets, especially at night. Mount Lowe Trail Campground provides another pet-friendly hiking destination with picnic tables and toilets, though it requires a hike-in approach.

      Waterfront RV Park

      Waterfront RV Park, CA

Located in Huntington Beach California. This site is right across the street from the beach. Be careful and aware when staying here. My husband and I had our mountain bikes stolen when sleeping. When we asked for camera footage the owners of the campground claimed the cameras were broken and they couldn’t share the footage. There are many homeless folks living in the area. The showers don’t get hot, but the area is clean. There is a pool and a hot tub and a small dog park. It’s expensive to stay here, but a beautiful spot.

      Hollywood RV Park

      Themed Park!

First of all, staff was amazing. We were originally supposed to arrive on a Tuesday and we’re not able to make it. Staff shifted our reservation instead of us eating the missed night cost. Also super accommodating allowing us to extend a day longer last minute. Park is tight quarters with 200 spots. Two laundry rooms/bathrooms with showers on site, plus a cute little dog park! We stayed for three nights. Every “road” in the park is themed with California or Hollywood themed decorations and murals. We were parked right next to a Mister Roger’s mural across from the laundry/bathrooms. My only complaint in the noise level at times which is not from the park itself. Helicopters would fly over randomly, sometimes at night and it could be annoying when trying to sleep. Otherwise, absolute GEM of a place!

      Hare School Park

It’s the sports fields parking lot

I’ve been here for a couple days and nobody’s mess with us. There’s other people that are staying in another parking lot attached that are homeless in their vehicles mostly cars and vans. I’m in a 25 foot Fleetwood RV. There’s a dog park kind of area with a big field they can run around and just clean up after them. There’s no public bathrooms, but there are trash cans so clean up after yourself please. It’s not tent friendly. I don’t believe.

Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

Rolling M. Ranch Campground — Chino Hills State Park

      Beautifully scenic area

Sprawling lush green hills? Can’t beat Chino Hills State Park.
The campground itself feels very close together and wide open compared to the space of the park. Gets loud at night if there are too many groups camping. No cell service. Super clean bathrooms and showers.

PET OWNERS BEWARE: Our dog munched on a frog at this campsite and started foaming at the mouth. We rinsed her mouth out with water and she turned out fine, but a smaller dog or a swallowed frog and she could have died from toxicity.

      Lake Campground

Acceptable last minute camping, not great, not terrible.

      Pros: Large campsites

                Clean-ish toilets

                Lake within walking distance

      Cons: Right near highway, noisy

Lots of flies during the day

                 tent sites are very flat

Last minute trip and decided to check out Lake Campground. There are 8 sites placed on this hilly area, with a vault toilet in the center of the campground. It is located right next to the highway, so it can be pretty noisy during the day as its a popular route for motorcyclists. The campground itself was fairly clean, and all the sites were very large and spaced well away from each other. The sites weren't very flat, so options to set your tent up were very limited. Some sites had some shade, others almost none. There were tons of flies, very active during the daytime, but went away during the evening. The vault toilets were the cleanest I'd seen (For vault toilets) and the staff came through the campgrounds several times a day.

Jackson Lake is a short walk from the campgrounds. It has a nice day use picnic area with coal grills, picnic benches, and four vault toilets (in pretty poor condition). The lake was pretty small and had a stagnant smell to it. Lots of people were fishing, and a few people waded into the waters. I saw people in rafts / kayaks later in the day. The area was covered in fleas so careful with pets.

    Guide to West Hollywood

Pet-friendly campgrounds near West Hollywood offer access to both ocean views and mountain trails within an hour's drive. The region sits at the intersection of coastal and mountainous terrain, with elevation ranging from sea level at beach sites to over 2,200 feet at mountain trail camps. Summer temperatures often exceed 90°F at inland locations while coastal campgrounds remain 10-15 degrees cooler.

    What to do

Beach access with dogs: At Dockweiler Beach RV Park, campers can walk directly onto the sand. "Great spot where you are never alone. Depending on the season, the lot can be packed. It is accommodating for some different size vehicles and has direct beach access and some amenities such as fire pits on the beach," notes Amanda K.

Trail hiking with pets: Several trail-accessible campgrounds welcome dogs on leashes. "This is about a 15 minute drive then 30 minute hike from my house. The stream is great. If you have a filter there is no need to hike in water," Jamie G. reports about Gould Mesa Trail Campground.

Canyon exploration: Many campgrounds offer access to canyon trails. "The campground is tucked away in a beautiful canyon setting with lots of shade trees, which was really nice for keeping cool. The best part about this campground is definitely the beach access- it's about a 10-minute walk from most sites, and you can explore some amazing tide pools and caves once you get there," shares Alfred at Leo Carrillo State Park.

    What campers like

Rare urban wildlife encounters: Despite proximity to the city, wilderness experiences remain accessible. "It's a spot where you can truly be away. We spent 5 days and didn't really see a soul. I did see my first rattlesnake and heard the coyotes at night," says Bill about his stay at Antfarm LA, a secluded dog-friendly option with just two sites.

Mountain views: Higher elevation campsites provide scenic vistas. "Nice views of the Angeles National Forest Mountains. Definitely going back," James K. mentions about Antfarm LA's setting.

Oceanfront camping: Beach campsites remain highly prized. "The RV park has a hookup area and a dry camping area. The hookups are full of large rigs, very close one with another, in a parking lot style. The dry camp provides much more space, but only relatively small RVs. The park is right next to the beach, walk 1 minute and you're there," explains Ignasi M. about Malibu Beach RV Park.

    What you should know

Airport noise levels: Some beach campsites experience significant flight path noise. "We loved this spot next to the beach. We got used to the planes, but they are certainly jarring at first," Tyler G. notes about Dockweiler.

Limited cell service: Many canyon and mountain campsites have spotty connectivity. "Cell service is virtually non-existent in the canyon, but you can get signal up at the beach if needed," Alfred mentions about Leo Carrillo State Park Campground.

Fire restrictions: Fire regulations vary significantly between locations. "Check on camp fires permitted (last time I was there ABSOLUTELY NO FIRES ALLOWED)," warns Tom P. about Mount Lowe Trail Campground.

Water availability: Not all sites provide running water. "It has no running water but it does have facilities and tables (first come, first serve). Fantastic views on a clear day and quite a few hikers pass through here on the weekend," Tom P. adds about Mount Lowe.

    Tips for camping with families

Beach proximity considerations: Family-friendly beaches require planning. "Bring a wagon if you're hauling beach gear though, as the walk can feel long with all your stuff. The kids loved searching for hermit crabs and sea anemones," Alfred suggests at Leo Carrillo State Park.

Food storage precautions: Wildlife requires proper food management. "Squirrels are very aggressive and will eat your food if left unattended," Tim J. warns about Leo Carrillo.

Easy trail options: Some campgrounds feature accessible hiking. "This is about a 30 minute hike on a leveled surface with a few stream crossings. It's known for squatters but didn't encounter any unpleasant ones. Running stream at site so no need to bring a lot of water, just a filtration system and a jug," Tony C. mentions about Gould Mesa Trail Campground.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: For larger RVs, specific sites work better. "The RV spaces at Dockweiler are packed closely together but offer the rare opportunity for beachfront camping with pets in the Los Angeles area," notes one camper.

Dry camping options: Dedicated dry camping areas offer more space. "Review of dry campervan section of park only, which seemed considerably more quiet and less chaotic than the big RV area. Amazing beach front sites, expected noise from road and airport but you can still hear the ocean. Best sites are 125-128," recommends PJ M. about Dockweiler Beach RV Park.

Oceanview alternatives: Different RV parks offer varying ocean views. "Every spot has a great view of the Pacific Ocean from high upon a cliff! General store is well stocked and there's a park to lounge or play games on the cliffs edge!" Tim Z. reports about Malibu Beach RV Park.
