Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park is managed cooperatively by the National Park Service and the California Department of Parks and Recreation, along with Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, and Redwood National Park.
Reservations are needed at Elk Prairie and Gold Bluff Beach Campground year-round. Gold Bluffs Beach campground is cabover camper- or tent-only; no trailers of any kind are allowed on Davison Road.
Gold Bluffs Beach campgrounds is close to anything you want to do within the park. I enjoyed the smell of the redwoods and amazing views. There are ferns everywhere and you can start to feel like your in the PNW. It is cool in the evening so you will need some warm items. The drive and hiking trails are AMAZING! I cant wait to go back!
Redwoods, Elk, Seals, Beach and now Water and showers and reserveable sites from may-sept. Wow, it has changed a lot in 10 years but it also has gotten more beautiful.
Redwoods State Park is beautiful with campgrounds that are basically next to the trails, secluded and surrounded by trees. There is nothing not to like about this place. Worth the drive.
The road out here is rough!!! But we did it in a Honda Fit so if you have a SUV you will be fine. Right next to the beach it gets cold at night bit you are super close to Fern Canyon one of the most amazing places I have ever seen, straight out of a movie.
What a beautiful place to wake up- right near the beach! The sites were large and it was somewhat private due the the sites being spread out. There isn't much as far as facilities go- just a restroom with running water. The drive here is a bit tricky, but well worth the location. There are some great hikes in the park as well. This place is on the list to visit again!
