The Appalachian trails runs beside this campground. There is a camp store for firewood and last minute items. Sites are basic, bathrooms are clean, showers are available with coins by camp store.
This is a simple campground in Ozark National Forest. It’s about 20 minutes from I-40 up a windy road. The bugs are pretty bad in the hot weather, especially around the lake. The dumpsters were over flowing and the bathrooms could have been cleaner. There is no Verizon service. It is a good place if you want to get away for a day or two.
Basic Forestry setup! Main road is gravel with many dirt road off shoots. Very private, sites are separated and most have homemade fire rings. No amenities so pack in and pack out. I had a few bars with Verizon.
Camp Richardson sits in Lake Tahoe. It has paved pads at each campsite to park and the facilities are very clean.
Great location, great service, clean facilities, hassle free. They sell firewood and have a little store on site. There are also gas and small grocery stores close by. You can even get Verizon service in a few pullouts along the road, less than 1 mile south.
Friendly staff, clean sites and facilities, coin operated showers. This campground is located right on the hood canal which is filled with oysters beds. Many people were harvesting the delicacy. Town is 5 minutes down the road if you need something.
The sites are private and they are in the coastal forest across the street from the beach. The sites and bathrooms are clean and they have coin operated showers. There are also cool hiking trails along the beach. Friendly staff and civilization is close by if you need anything.
This is a small primitive campground nestled in the forest about 10 minutes from Mt Rushmore. The host sells firewood and the sites are clean and quiet.
The Boundary waters north of Ely Minnesota do not disappoint. Rugged portages and untamed nature!!! It’s absolutely beautiful. If you are going during the summer months BRING BUG SUITS!!!!
US forestry service road off of 180 right before Grand Canyon National Park entrance. The main forestry road is gravel/dirt and there are many spots available, but make sure you drive past the horse farm. You will see horses and all sorts of wildlife. Sites are clean, but there are not amenities so pack in and pack out.
This campsite is centrally located on the peninsula. Access to several roadside dog friendly beaches within minutes. The bay and the beach are within walking distance to campground. The bathrooms are clean and the showers are coin operated. Sites are flat and semi private. The staff is friendly and campground is large.
The road in is an enchanting rain forest, the sites are set back into the bluffs, and the facilities are simple but clean. There are many hiking trails within a short walk or drive. The beach is within 100 ft. There is wildlife including elk, quail, and fox roaming about. The market is about 15 minutes down the road if needed. They also sell firewood on site.
Forestry service! Off the beaten path and limited cell reception. Clean natural sites and vault toilets. Basic!
This is a really cool campground for tent campers. The sights are engulfed by giant redwoods and surrounded by ferns, moss and rainforest. Bathrooms are clean and service is great! Showers, laundry, little store, and arcade for kids.
This campground is right off 101 and has amazing rugged coastal scenery. There are several good hiking trails. The sites are clean and the staff is friendly!
This location was 6 miles from civilization down a windy road, then up a mountain side. If you like driving off road then the trip would be worth it, especially if you plan to stay a while. Ultimate seclusion, with normal camping accommodations. Toilets are vault, no flush but clean. The area was hit by the fire but regrowing. Paradise if you have ATVs etc. Cool spot off the beaten path.
